I like the design on this card. It is certainly a great roadblock and has potential for synergy with pump effects, which seem to be a theme which Blizzard are pushing further in this expansion (see Grimestreet Enforcer, Grimestreet Outfitter, Meanstreet Marshal).
If further previews continue down this route then we may see a spot for Wickerflame Burnbristle in a pump deck, although Blizzard have been encouraging this for years now without success. The problem is that a pump deck pretty much needs to be tempo-based or you will just get out-valued as your opponent goes 2-for-1 with his or her removal.
Of course, in such a tempo deck the lifegain on Wickerflame Burnbristle is less relevant as. However, Zoo decks have taught us that Taunt can still be very useful in fast tempo decsk, so there is hope for this yet.
The card is solid. I think those comparing it to Silent Knight should realize the two cards serve different purposes. Silent Knight gains Stealth just so its shield doesn't get pinged. It's a card that's slow to gain value and it's effect sucks if you have initiative on trading anyway, plus it does nothing in the late game.In general SK is no better than just a generic 3/4 at best... meanwhile Burnbristle is very good at slowing down the game, healing small amount of early game face damage and forcing the enemy to slam two bodies into it. In a slower Meta, he's not as useful in the early game but not as bad in the late game either. You can play him just as a cheap miniature Sun Walker with a heal built in.
The main problem I have is that he's Legendary, so you can only use one... and I'd prefer if the Paladin Legendary for this expansion was more... impactful. Also, the card art and effects don't really make sense. Why does a pyromaniacal dwarven warrior have Divine Shield and heals you when he deals damage? He looks like he has a flamethrower or cannon stuck to his armor that apparently does nothing but suck out enemy lifeforce? Why does he have a fiery name and art when he doesn't do anything with fire?
Even if he's a Divine Shield / Taunt minion, instead of healing shouldn't his effect be something like, "Also deals 1 damage to the minions next to whoever he damages." Then when the effect takes place we can get some fiery special effect.
Honestly why...Buff cards are too resource heavy, let me know when a paladin deck that runs 3+ buff cards becomes Tier 1, even a Tier 2 deck (protip: it won't)
Yes please waste those hard removals on my garbage 3 drop that is only meant to stall the game and half of which dont even ignore divine shield, ill enjoy you having nothing against lightlord
Most of those "hardremoval" spells i listed besides deadlyshot gaintempoadvantadge. Thats exactly what they are ment for ,to gain tempo or to stall the game until the point they grind you out or OTK you or whatever. None of those spells is a waste or used to do facedmg.

I wonder why people think you get healing from this card per se. Mages , Priests , Druids and Rouge will kill him more often than not by spells .

Predicting this guy could be very powerful if there are more decent to strong +1/+1 to hand minions in the set (new Grimestreet archetype).
Suddenly this card seems so much better
12 wins in ArenA with: Mage and Paladin, first time legend with Rogue
I shouldnt reply but ok ,here we go.

Don't look at this card on its own.
The whole set of new paladincards is made for buffing your cards in Hand.
So this minion can easy be a 4/4 with taunt, divine shield and Healing ability.
Even more you can also buff him more to play him later in the game.
The best summoning intro of the expansion.
