Argh, tough call. This nerf is obviously because of worgen OTK. Anyway, people are whining like worgen OTK is some braindead draw and answer until you draw combo deck, while it's one of the hardest decks in the game and NOT BROKEN imo. The funny part is that according to statistics some of the people who say this play decks like midrange hunter and aggro shaman.
Anyway, while I do aggree it wasn't fun and interactive, RIP another deck that actually takes skill. You go visit old patron in heaven.
I'm sick of this "it's the only skilled deck that exists" bullshit. That's what people say about Freeze mage, old patron (new patron!) and FoN + SR decks. If you want to play a "skill" game, go play priest. You can toot your own horn when you beat zoo with the perfect hand of clears. At least you can say then that you arose to the challenge and came out the übermensch that you claim to be.
About time someone said it!
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Start of Year: Provoke the failure of 3 expansions, force nerfs on otherwise balanced cards, bring deckbuilding to an all-time low and get rotated one year earlier for being such a threat to the game's health. - Genn and Baku's historical entry on the White Book of Shit Design, shortly before retiring unpunished
I feel like they could've kept the attack increase and mana cost (or dropped it to 2 mana maybe?) and people still might have played it as a tool for trading up. Honestly, I think they just need to change the charge mechanic altogether. Either improve the stats of charge minions and make it where they can't attack heroes at all, or keep the stats the same and just prevent them from attacking heroes on the turn they're played.
A lot of people are focusing on the fact it kills OTK which personally I'm happy about. Not a lot is being made about its now only 1 mana and will buff something permanently by 2 att and allow you to drop a fat minion and trade it right away. Now don't get me wrong it's probably still bad. But I'm calling it now this might actually see play in midrange and control decks.
edit: also noticed lots of people worried about blizzard not sticking to there word about combo support. Combo decks and OTK decks aren't always the same thing. OTK is only a specific type of combo deck. This change actually opens up more combo possibilities.

You start off by calling my comment ''it's the only skilled deck that exists bullshit''. Where did I say that? Nowchere. And old patron and freeze mage are tough decks to pilot aswell yes (FoN SR druid was notoriously easy to play by the way). And no the game doesn't involve more skill if you simply go play a crap class and get the good cards, but in general the OTK decks do require the toughest decisions. Go ask any pro.
And you end on the note that I claim to be an ''übermensch'' (I know it's an intentional exaggeration but still). Where did I ever in my comment state anything about my skill level? Hell, I'm pretty bad at Worgen OTK warrior.
And I stand by my statement that decks like midrange hunter and aggro shaman are retardedly easy by the way.
Wow they should honestly just remove this card from the game at this point when would anyone ever want to charge a minion just to trade it. I don't even play OTK decks and this nerf just pisses me off there is no thought here other than completely removing worgen OTK or any other combo deck as an deck type
Honestly I only play this game nowadays because of how much I like OTK decks.
Otk Frost Giant Warrior, raging worgen otk Warrior, Alex + gorehowl warr , anyfin paladin and so on. Is my winrate great? No. I could simply play Curvestone like most other people and call it a day.
Unless they release new combo cards in the next expansions I'm probably out. If somebody could recommend me card games where combo decks actually exist please point me in that direction, thanks.
Probably an unavoidable nerf in the long run. Still I dont feel like it was 100% necessary. After this we will have lost the last competitive combo deck.
This, strictly speaking, isn't a nerf. It's basically replacing one card with a different one. A nerf would be making charge 4 mana or reducing damage by 1. This is just totally different. It's kind of a buff if you wanted to use it to combo with patron warrior, and a nerf for OTK worgens/giants/etc.
Love it or hate it, I don't think "nerf" is the right word here.

Correct, this is more of a card redesign than a nerf.
In my opinion the should just remove the charge mechanic completely and redesign all the affected cards, charge is the less fun effect on HS since day 1.

I agree. I would be OK with charge against minions but the whole "face is the place" meta needs to go away for some time.
2 cards, 9 mana 8/9 minion is far from an op game turning play.
Now with Sylvanas on the other hand, this so called nerfed becomes scary.
The Sylvannas play existed already with the pre-nerf version of the card. Nerf doesn't really increase the "scariness" of that combo.
The Boogeymonster combo can't be done from a clean board with the pre-nerf version of Charge but can with the post-nerf version.
There are other examples of combos now available with higher cost cards that weren't available from a clean board before.and the implications are still being worked out.
"While we enjoy seeing players explore combo styles of play and will continue to support it in the future" Biggest bullshit they ever said, there will never be strong combo decks in this goddamn game, blizzard will make sure of that, curvestone is the way to go.
OTK is not the only type of combo
EDIT:
ok probably should've finished reading the thread before reply to that guy, because there are a ton of people making the same mistake.
1) OTK =/= Combo. There can be decks that use combos to build a board or buff a board so that it out tempos or out values the opponent allowing them to win.
2) This nerf does not destroy the "entire OTK/Combo Archetype." That would imply only Warrior decks could be OTK ever and only if they had Charge. Yes it destroy the only popular OTK deck there is currently, and Blizzard seems to be moving away from OTK in generally, but that does not mean there will never be an OTK deck again. Maybe one day we'll find a way to have an OTK deck that doesn't feel like it was completely uninteractive.
I still can't believe they killed worgen OTK who wasn't even that strong (tech in a single taunt minion and it's fucked) meanwhile they see nothing wrong with Alexstrasza mage (I refuse to call it freeze mage, it's misleading) which is uncounterable if he draws like a god and you're not control warrior.
What they should have done for Charge is just keeping the cost and effect but without the +2 Attack. This would make worgen OTK lose 4 damage which is a big deal and the card would still be powerful and playable. I agree with 5 out of the 7 nerfs but this and the rockbiter one are retarded.
After playing the deck for 2 season, i know that worgen deck is hard to play and not op of couse. Ice block is a counter in a way also freezing trap

Fuck cubelock
I'm very excited about the change. Since I never played Worgen, I look at this change as a pure buff for warrior.
They could make it cost 0 hmm maybe patron will want this card now as a 1 off.. to activate the everyone get in here!
Well that puts the final nail in the coffin for warrior OTK decks.

People are talking about Worgen OTK and i am thinking this change will make Warrior stronger in Arena
Charge + The Boogeymonster will be out of control.
You should've put another option.
Liked it except for Yogg nerf.. That guy just needed to stay out of tournaments
