Aggressive decks are stronger than we would like right now, and Abusive Sergeant is in virtually all of them. We like that Abusive Sergeant is available to players using minion heavy strategies, but neutral cards in the base set should be narrow enough that they aren’t showing up in such a wide variety of circumstances. We’re changing Abusive Sergeant to be a 1/1 so the battlecry becomes the clear focus, rather than the card being a reasonable turn one option for all aggressive deck types.
Rating: 5/5. Love this change, Abusive Sergant was always too strong for it's effect. The card is still playable with this change, but no longer an option on turn 1 for it's body itself.
Who did they hire for the balance team that actually can balance cards without completely destroying them? Give this man a medal!

What is Hearthstone to you? A fun and semi-competitive game with wacky effects and crazy RNG outcomes or just a card game you wanna grind as many wins you can get as fast as possible in?
A step in the right direction, actually nerfing a problem card, problem is: the issue was always its ability to give 2 attack not its stats, just like Knife Juggler.
When a card is too present in winning decks, you don't need to nerf its strongest aspect to balance things. The same decks with the Sergeant will now win slightly less times than before and that's exactly what we need: a reasonable nerf (not a huge massive nerf that would have made the card unplayable).
The problem was the value of the "+2 attack", not the stats. Missed shot. But maybe enough for see it go away.
Maybe, but at least it can't make another card trade up AND trade into a 2 drop.
Exactly and that's actually a huge nerf, a nerf people don't understand. The +2 is a problem yes, but blizzard don't want to remove all problems aggro gives us. So the Battlecry is still very good and the card viable and that's actually a good thing. But you can no longer use it to kill of a 3/2, and that's a huge change.
For example: Museum Curator can now trade with him and stay alive, against zoo this is actually a huge buff for Priest. So even if it still give +2 attack and that's actually still quite good, the effect for 1 mana on a 2/1 body was too good!
Very good change it's actually balanced now it was like old Leper Gnome but Abuse Sergeants effect is more versatile so i don't think this nerf will completely kill the card like what we saw with Leper Gnome it will still see play. This is the very first time Hearthstone team has done a good job balancing, making changes without killing cards.
Brings it in line with Leper Gnome. Still mostly playable, but not auto-include in every single aggro list now. I predict this will still see some use in Zoo and Totem decks which almost always have a big board of minions to trade away. Good change.
Sergeant definitely needed a nerf, but this is arguably the wrong one.
The right nerf was on the bonus given.
With 1/1 +2 it will stay staple in any aggressive deck.
<snip> This just means that Aggro will replace with another card. People thought that leper gnome would still be played but it's dead and now this card will be as well. I can honestly see divine Aggro pally being the Aggro deck of choice or zoo returning now that shaman, hunter, and warriors are now at their weakest.
Abusive Sergeant is receiving a nerf!

I like it, and will probably continue to use it.
Should have been +1 attack and 1/1. This is still going to see a lot of play

They want to nerf the card but still have it be viable, not make it completely trash in one change

It will still be used, because you mostly use him for his battlecry.

+1 for this nerf!
I have an opinion on almost everything. :)
Yes, Blizzard this is how you nerf cards. Glad you push faggro a little bit more down the ladder.
Although you should've made it give a minion +1 attack imo.
Fuck cubelock
as a 1/1 it's probably gonna see less play but still a card that s going to be used frequently.
A glorious bundle of salt.

Nice work. Unlike the Leper Gnome nerf, this one leaves the card in playable condition.
Lol all of those who hate this nerf must be zoo deck users.
