I know this has been posted a few times but I'm adamant that thoughtsteal is bugged to copy higher ranked cards.
3/15 games I've played this morning have been priests. Out of 3 games they've copied.
Grommash, Cairne, Gorehowl, Shield Block
Grommash,Ragnaros, Slam, Execute (I know he stole Rag because he played 2 of them)
Grommash, Grommash, Ysera, Sludge Belcher
The 3rd game was the tipping point for me that made me rage quit for the day. In that game he was on 10 hp and I had 17 damage next turn while I was on 25 hp with a fresh sludge belcher on the board. He had potential for 8 damage next turn (Ysera and fresh Grommash) and I had the belcher who would have to be traded with 3 times so I went face. He then played a secong grommash, ysera awakens, ysera traded with my ooze taunt then went 20 damage to the face with double buffed Grommash for exact perfect lethal. I don't think I've ever been more salty after a game of hearthstone. This was play of the week stuff and I hope the guy I was playing against streams/recorded it cause it was soooo BS.
The RNG on that is completely fucked. How can Grommash have been stolen every game and twice in the last game? This isn't just specific to today I've noticed both playing as a priest myself or against other priests that thoughtsteal tend to draw more epic/legendary cards than commons/rares. Surely this can't be just RNG and there has to be some loading on the cards it draws?
Am I just being a whining bitch who should take off his tin foil hat or do others feel the same about the loaded "randomness" of thoughtsteal?
Sorry, but that's incorrect. If a sequence of numbers has a nonzero chance of being generated, eventually that sequence will appear, however unlikely it may be. I can see where you're coming from, but what I don't see is this being any more than just the RNG screwing you over.
Presuming a priest uses thoughtsteal turn 3 and turn 4 (25 and 24 cards left in opponents deck), the chance of getting 2 of the same legendary from the opponent's deck is 0.64% or should happen once in every 156 games. I got well and truly RNG'd.
However, I can understand your frustration. People can argue all they want but the RNG on cards like Deadly Shot, Thoughtsteal and Lightning Storm often decides a game.
Considering the price pool of some Hearthstone tournaments I don't think this is an acceptable situation. It's okay for just playing ladder but when something is decided based on a small amount of games, the additional RNG introduced by these cards really hurts Hearthstone.
i play priest with thoughtsteal a lot cause it is so much fun, but let me tell u ... when im vs rogue then like 95% of times i steal Deadly Poison or Blade Flurry ... sometimes even twice :D its my curse :D
I played in the Friday Night Dust-Off tournament last night, priest as usual, and I thought-stole at least once each match and didn't get a legendary. Though I did get a webspinner which gave me another webspinner which gave me a king mukkla, I thought that was kind of funny.
But really, it seems that way because most legendarie's that fit in decks (cairne, grom, rag, ysera) are mid to late game cards that are mulligan-ed back into decks and have a decent chance of being late in the draw, meaning by the time thoughtsteal is used there is a higher chance the priest will snag a legendary. Most people keep 1-3 drops in their opening draw, so chances are using thoughtsteal in at least the midgame will yield late game oriented cards, which are usually legendaries or high quality epics/rares.
As a druid, if a draw a AoL or a Ragnaros vs a priest, i will keep it. The game wont end early and i dont want to add chances to backfire them. I play priest a lot, i only steal legendarys, all the time, it could be true.

personaly id rather rag to be thoughtstealed then mindvisioned :D and one less "dead" card in my starting hand to get early advantage ;-)
In my exp, before when i mulliganed agresive for early game cards it was pointless, priest allways last to late game cards vs me (i play ramp) and i risk to dont draw then later. Btw nobody use mindvision, rly.

There are legitimate statistical reasons for why Thoughtsteal is more likely to get a mid-late game card.
It all goes back to the mulligan. Thoughsteal can only take cards that are still in your deck. If you're running a deck like Control Warrior (which it looks like the OP is), that means you've probably got 6 or 7 legendaries and a goodly number of taunts and removal as well.
Moreover, during the mulligan someone playing Control Warrior will be actively looking for good early-game cards and tossing their good late game cards back into the deck. So, not only is Control Warrior concentrated on Legendaries and the mid to late game in the first place, but the process of mulliganing actually increases the density of these cards in the deck that remains.

Of course, but that is not what he is saying.
He's assuming that if his deck only contains two Argent Squires, a Ragnaros and a Grommash, that his opponent's Thoughtsteal will somehow be weighted towards stealing the two legendaries over the Argent Squires. Which is not the case at all.
I agree that the RNG in this game isn't completely random. Elven Archer for example. I've never seen Elven Archer do anything other than 1 damage, out of all 167 games in which I've seen the card on one side of the board.
you got it wrong op. thoughtsteal copies golden cards only thats why my only golden cards in warrior control are shield slams. just yesterday opponent priest shield slamed my rag 4 times before he did him in.

Legendaries in a control deck tend to be more lateplay cards and thoughtsteal steals from the remaining deck when used so it isn't THAT unlikely.

Another 2 games against priests - Grommash stolen in both games............
It has to be bad luck.

I assumed as much but was that ever confirmed?
Let me show you some real probabilities:
Odds that a priest player would make a thread complaining about Thoughtsteal stealing too many too good cards: 0.003%
Odds that someone complaining about randomness of Thoughtsteal have lost to a priest recently: 98.7%

Sometimes you get godly cards from thoughtsteal, other times you get cards you can't even play.
Curse you deadly poison!
Confirmation bias.
Confirmed.

That's a bit unfair @PoeticStanziel.
