The never ending thread about "competitive hearthstone" this and there....
Just because people make little tournaments with HS in strivewire and other places, and because there is 1 magic world coup, doesn't mean the game is properly designed to be competitive, it means people WANT it to be competitive. But the game as it's is a joke from a competitive stand point. The card draw is around 80% unreliable (and if you play any kind of reno is 100% unreliable) I would say a third of the staples in standard are filled with unreliable RNG effects (like yogg is, but let me tell you, it's coding was modified in silence, I'm sure of this, it's effects changed a LOT after the pre-karazhan patch) being able to draw a third of your entire deck is just WRONG, that delutes your need to strategize when you can just draw so many cards allowing to ignore card drawing chance, and finally, the fact that the active player can not be stopped and he decides everything during the turn is just horrible design (good for the sake of gameplay though, but horrible for the matches themselves).
Everything points at a game that wants to be casual and just fun (and for the sake of entertainment) even half the playerbase want it to be even more casual with montly/weekly cards rotations for the sake of "shaking things up", that is just INSANE from a competitive point of view, unestability is the least competitive a game can be, jesus.
So, either people accept HS is a casual card game with a couple of swingy competitive events every year, or force the hand of team5 to actually make the game competitive eliminating all the casual aspects of it (wich they won't because being casual give a lot more money).
Simple Fix : Yogg doesn't cast the spells from the player's perspective. They should be random, so secrets should be able to be played for both parties.
that would be something at least. Some "fairness".

Then make it good spells have 60 % change to be used on yourself and 40 % of the bad spells have the change to hit yourself.

In any reasonable developer mind this should be the only possibility, when I saw yogg I completely wondered why overload affected the player (was this changed from the time it was releaved as such? I dusted him so I have no idea right now if this happens), is just plain out lack of sense. It's a yogg's ability, not yours, is just stupid that the spell yogg-saron are casting, are seen as YOU casting it, is like the C'thun bonus, it's fine if it's attacked to the player, is like a (magic reference here) experience counter or an emblem, but why on earth does it takes effect if you don't even have the C'thun in your deck? that simply doesn't makes sense, the creature with the battlecry enters, tries to activate the BC, but has no possible creature to give the bonus, to the BC fumbles, is that easy... anyways.
When Yogg was revealed I asked why was HIM casting the spell instead of ME to make it: 1) Not punishing you from the negative effects of spells 2) being able to cast spells for your enemies, 3) avoiding it to kill itself (this should be real whatever is casting the spells, what's the point of playing a bomb if it takes itself down?), 4) Preventing ANY possible thought of "so, yogg's spells adds to a second yogg cast?!"
and people on this board flamed me for saying that, there you got...
Let me start by saying that I don't like Yogg. Playing or facing. To each their own. The point op. Missed and why tournaments with yogg included in can stll be recognized as letgit is that that losing finalists had the option to ban the yogg deck... But chose to take the risk of facing him.
Great idea.....create a card that counters yogg........ A card that reset board to last turn conditions... But eats up your turn.. What you think..... Good or bad idea.

something more simple and flexible: A neutral trap (yeah yeah.. maybe a minion with "hexproof") that read "channeling: Cancel the battlecry of the next casted enemy minion" (it needs to be a new keyword because once it happens it never happens again).
or better! (this won't happen in a loooong time)
Let the player react in real time! with a counter creature, a dekoy "instant casted" ("flash") creature that eats all the enemy spells, *another hundred of possibilties*
Thijs lost a game solely because his opponent got an amazing Yogg, after that he tells about how much it frustrates him that he has to prepare so much for Blizzcon, yet, he can still lose a game simply because his opponent got a better Yogg.

I had a priest play 3 spells, Reno Jackson, and then Yogg. I had 7 minions on board. It pyroblasted my face then killed all of them.

Here's the clip: https://clips.twitch.tv/thijshs/SpotlessOkapiKappaRoss
He does talk more about how much it frustrates him, but since twitch clips can only be 25 seconds and I wanted the part where he says "This Yogg.."...
