They don't have to be identical to have similar effects. They, in their own way, create one or more 1/1 token(s) of a friendly minion. So claiming Barnes is an original idea is just silly. It's like claiming that the portals of this Adventure are not "four pees in a pod". They do different things but their essence is the same.
I believe you don't know much about "essence".
Herald and Shadowcaster both interacts with your board. Essentially, to extract value from them, you have to set up a nice board or combo. Barnes doesn't. He doesn't gives you the opportunity to battlecry again, for instance, but he does create a opportunity to combo with Shadowcaster (for instance as well). Barnes is a deck filter that creates a possibility, a disruption field, and if that's not insanely good, it's well designed, way better designed and creative than Herald.
You just want to trash talk on the expansion and go ahead. Rofl.
No one understands my favorite card. It just shows that Blizzard does care about Wild. I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just saying it's tricky to build a deck around, which is why everyone plays Wild, and definitely not because their favorite class is bad in Standard, which is evidenced by how good Unicorn Priest is. Their essence isn't important when their effect is similar. Barnes' effect is a recycled, albeit slightly changed, effect. So to say it has originality is just plain wrong, any way you put it. It's not like summoning a minion from your deck is a new mechanic either. It is less creative than Herald's effect as it's kind of just a Herald/Shadowcaster 2.0.
Well, it deserves thrashtalking. This is the worst batch of cards an adventure/expansion has ever given Hearthstone, in the least from a design perspective as the cards haven't had their playability tested by the players yet. If you're too big of a fanboy to see it, that's unfortunate.
Now that Purify's been released a few days, maybe some of the ones voting for it would wanna take the opportunity to give a serious vote instead of making a joke on this card? Only 7h left now :P

What is Hearthstone to you? A fun and semi-competitive game with wacky effects and crazy RNG outcomes or just a card game you wanna grind as many wins you can get as fast as possible in?

Si vis pacem, para bellum.
Corvus oculum corvi non eruit.
Barnes hands down. Mini Malygos, Archmage Antonidas, Blood of The Ancient One, Tirion Fordring, etc. All sorts of viable and non-viable plays that I can make tons of crazy decks around and some might even work out. He can easily go into any Deathrattle deck or you can build an entire deck around his interaction plus he has synergy with Shadowstep, Shadowcaster and Brann Bronzebeard.
