Good card combos are good (or at least decent) on their own, and become very powerful when used together. Shrinkmeister was a very good Priest card. You could use it on it's own to keep the board, or even just as a 2 drop if you needed to and it was fine. Or you could combo it later with Cabal to steal Ysera and GG. It was designed with symmetry to other Priest cards and other cards in the meta. Needing 2 cards to make a minion that can't attack be able to attack, otherwise either card are absolutely dead cards is complete trash and should be killed with fire.

People had this reasoning with Discard warlock and now it works and they look dumb. And judging by this comment I can tell you have no idea how silence priest works.
That's because they added silverware golem which is a much better discard target than fist of jaraxxus and is also not as bad if you have to play it out of hand. Also imp of malchezaar might mitigate the running out of cards issue. And we still don't see it much on ladder. You also have to understand that a soulfire discarding silverware golem is 1 mana deal 4 damage and summon a 3-3 which is insane value, way above normal, while a 2 card 4 mana 4-5 draw a card is just normal or slightly below normal value.
...a 2 card 4 mana 4-5 draw a card is just normal or slightly below normal value.
Why is everyone so hung up on the ancient watcher combo? Its like the first and OBVIOUS use of a card is what everyone weighs its value on. Anyone playing the game for 20 minutes can see that purify would work on a watcher or statue... enough already. That is not the only purpose of running purify. Widen your build scope people. And having it removed from arena was ridiculous. You choose from 3 cards; if you didnt draft any cards worth purifying PICK SOMETHING ELSE. There are so many other cards that are useless in arena but they stick around. Blizzard had to make an unnecessary apology to their community and I dont think its right. What about a mage faced with the choice of a silithid swarmer? Or how good of a value is a starving buzzard if you got screwed on beasts (5 for a 3/2? no thanks)? or when the heck would you ever take an angry chicken? or or or... makes no sense...

What??? I don't see any currently existing card to be a good combo with purify other than watcher/statue and if you get a big body minion out of barnes but good luck relying on that. What other card did you have in mind? Sure, they can print a card that would be good with purify but there's a chance that card would also be just as good or even better if you put silence instead of purify. Blizzard removed this card from arena on purpose, the only combo is with watcher/statue and it's not even that good. Brode admitted in a video it's just a for "fun" card. They practically built half the class as a "fun" class, see mindgames, thoughtsteal, forbidden shaping, confessor paletress, herald volazj etc.

First off, when Team 5 spends the better part of a year developing cards, they don't release the ones they don't believe in. That said, when the players react poorly to a release, they have to reply publicly... the community really gave them no choice. They play tested the crap out of Purify along with hundreds more before releasing it... the apology was most likely obligatory. (Im not them so I could be wrong.)
As for Purify only working with statue/watcher/corrupted Healbot/Icehowl/Mogol's Champion//// I would say its irrelevant to proper deck building and gameplay... silence is clutch in many situations, mainly reactional of course, but most of all its the bluff that is its strength. Your opponent playing around a card you may or may not have can help control the match's tempo in your favor. I would never run a deck that relied on a combo to win. Ever. They should be used to help set up a proper win condition and nothing more. Which is why Force of Nature was the best nerf in Hearthstone history.
As for the arena nerf? There are at least 20 current arena cards that could benefit from choosing a purify. If you didnt draft one or two of those, that just dont draft the purify, why is that so hard to understand? There are two other cards to choose from.
Cause purify would be in the common slots and is a class card plus it's the lastest expansion card so you have ahuge chance seeing this card in every drafted.. and a 2 mana draw a card of you have a minnion and potentially make the minnion worseis terrible in seems..Imagine getting magma rager am'gam rager and purify.. wtfyou so with the drafted?!
Instead you can gets another priest common.. like priest of the feast for example.

Now I'm convinced you're either delusional or a very bad player. First off blizzard does indeed print cards that are intentionally only for fun/crap cards, look at renounce darkness. Also there is not a single purify combo right that is not a really, really bad value and tempo play, none of these so called 20 cards that could benefit from purify, actually bring you value and tempo that's even equal to something you get with another, better cards. Spending 2 mana to draw a card and MAYBE negate a small downside like corrupted healbot (because you're not sure it will live a turn) is so much below some insane plays the decks have today it's unbelievable. While you're sitting there with a 7 mana 6/6 cycle a card, shaman already punched you 3 times with a 7/7, hunter is ready to play double call of the wild and warlock used power overwhelming on a 2-1 to clear your minion with 1 mana and has 6 mana remaining. Purify is crap, end of discussion. Just compare it to slam, which cycles and card AND does 2 damage to an enemy minion, infinitely better. The mere fact that you need to have a minion on board (as a priest) already makes it pretty conditional since you almost never have board control.
I've been experimenting with various Silence Priest builds, and they're far from terrible (they're just underperforming slightly at the moment). I've tried approaching the Purify card from a different angle, namely: Let's assume that this card works - what were the developers thinking?
Trying to answer that question:
There are already other minions that silence, and a spell that silence any minion, for zero mana. There must be some benefit in running lots of silence.
Purify draws a card, so it could support an archetype that needs draw.
So, assuming (with an open mind) that this card could be playable, it would suit a deck that promotes many smaller spells, with many minions to be silenced. Relying on a combo is not as risky when a combo is almost guaranteed. For example, if half the deck were silence, and the other half were Ancient Watcher, it would not be difficult to get the right combo, most of the time.
It's not top-tier, perhaps, but it's fun to play, and you get interesting results. In recent testing of a Silence Priest (of course still pre-Purify), I've had people suiciding against my Ancient Watcher before I even had the silence in hand.
But my point is, Purifyis not a card to play outside of a carefuly constructed deck, but it certainly can be played, and by increasing your silencing by 33% (6 to 8), it makes playing a Silence Priest that much more viable - creating deck viability is greater than how it (dys)functions as a tempo play; it also lets you play your other silences against an enemy minion (i.e. you're not wasting one of your few silences on an enemy when you want to save it for yourself, since you might have 3 in hand). Although I would certainly like to see it reduced to 1 mana, or (better) silence any minion.
...and since when did Priests care about tempo outside of the Arena, anyway? (I agree that it's a dreadful card in Arena)
It boggles my mind why they didn't make the card this:
Sure, it's not that much better, but it's much more versatile and it makes perfect sense given the theme of the card. It's certainly not too powerful when you consider Ancestral Healing.
I don't see the big deal about the card, I mean it is Priest we are talking about. Maybe if Priest was relevant at all, then this would be a worthwhile discussion over a card from that class. But as many people, including the pros of the game, believe, a Priest card is just about irrelevant as the class itself.

This is precisely the reason for the discussion. If this card were given to say Shaman everyone would be like "yeah whatever" but so many people love priest (including myself) that for Bliz to make such a stupid card in an adventure set for the worst class (by far) when people are paying for this garbage is bad business and a bit irresponsible. Priest should have had 3 good cards to help bring them out of the gutter. The only one that's any good is priest of the feast meaning Priest was royally screwed yet again.
It just really irritates many priest players who were hoping for a decent board clear and a couple really good minions we can play before turn 4.

Sure this is slightly better because it has an extra effect but think about the situation? Normally when your healing a minion it has a powerful buff or effect which is the reason your keeping it alive. The silence neglects this advantage and is really contradictory. I think its someeeething to help purify but not quite there...

Remember when Priest had decent cards and was actually viable in constructed??!?! Neither do I.
Wild uses cards implicated in nineteen-tickity-two. I would appreciate seeing some fresh, interesting cards come out of priest.
I think it's still playable.
HOW IF :
Turn 4 : Doomsayer and then silence with Purify
Turn 5: 2x Divine Spirit and Inner Fire
Miracle Priest confirmed?

I think if you don't agree that this should've been removed from arena, you've not tried to play Priest in arena.

LOLOLOLOL PRIEST
I thought this was a joke card when it first revealed.

So if you play with 8 silences (Ironbeak Owl, Spellbreaker, Silence, Purify), along withBarnes, and a few meaty, bad minions (at a cheap cost), with Sunfury Protector and Defender of Argus... And you add to that Onyx Bishop and Priest of the Feast and a slew of small spells and buffs, a Holy Champion or two... And that's before we add in any legendaries.
It's not top-tier, perhaps, but it's fun to play, and you get interesting results. In recent testing of a Silence Priest (of course still pre-Purify), I've had people suiciding against my Ancient Watcher before I even had the silence in hand.
