lol you are forced to use this card in the silence priest used in the class battle. the deck includes moat lurkers, so that's another interesting combo for the deck. sadly, the deck just won't be top tier, but it did fairly well against that plate deck.
Purify is overly fine. Not all cards serve the single minded purpose of ladder play nor should they. A good player would see value in this card and a great player would understand its value but simply not play it if they didnt need to. There are PLENTY of cards that dont see meta (i.e. Arcane Shot) with wack cost/value ratio that certainly don't give card draw. So what? Priest doesn't need better cards, what it needs is better deck builders. Unfortunately 99% of the hearthstone community just netdecks so until the top 1% makes Priest work, these threads will just stay the way they are. I hope the last game of worlds is decided by this card. Please game Gods hear my prayers.

I can't tell if you're insulting the top Priest players or the community as a whole. Oh wait, it's both.
The problem is not the players, it's the tools we have and the meta.
It's only half of an insult. Some of those players in that 99% are amazing pilots but they don't build decks. They tweak a card or two maybe.... priest needs a new build. Shake uo the meta. The tools are there and purify might be an asset.

I would really love to see a documentary about the design process of this card. Even if they are trying to push a new type of deck they are doing it in the sloppiest way possible.
Ok...so the 1 mana version still silenced friendly minions, so that makes it sound good, it kind of is, but any situation you would play a 1 mana-purify, you would get more flexibility from playing the 0 mana silence.
That's basically it, the simplest way to explain it, sure, if you build a deck around purify it isn't a bad card, but you would have more flexibility by playing the 0 mana silence...you are basically paying 1 extra mana for a cycle, is it worth it, if you use it on the right target it is, but in most situations, no.
You would run both. A silence priest archetype has never been possible as silence in general is kind game breaking so, like charge, they have to limit it and in light of the nerfed owl, silence priest would probably never happen. But now, with purify coming out with cards like Barnes and Volazj, ancient watcher and eerie statue become runnable. Stuff the deck with taunts, shadow words and play smart and purify could very well bring a new priest archetype to the ladder. Purify is certainly FAR from the worst card in hearthstone but everyone has jumped the band wagon like always...
This card is playable only in wild mode, with the Wailing Soul and the Ancient Watcher in the Silence Priest (or the Unicorn) but I think it's actually unplayable in another deck.
Even there you rather play the 0 mana silence than this one.
Not all values are black and white like that. The synergy of the deck as a whole raises value to each card. Of course that play wouldn't be optimal but I could say the same for a turn four faceless that gets a deadly shot next turn leaving you overloaded. Did it matter he was 7/7? It's how the cards fall...
A one cost draw-a-card with the bonus ability to silence the drawback of an otherwise OP card? Still sucks?? Please do tell me more....
Sadly there is no Op card that has such a drawback, Ancient watcher would be a 3 mana 4/5 for 2 CARDS! And Earie would be a 7/7 for 5 mana and still 2 cards because youll need to have both in hand and its getting you closer to fatigue thats a huge drawback. So yes Goblin Merch is already better but its still way to bad.
But we dont even have to argue this since this card costs even 2 mana.
And Carddraw is not worth 2 mana and the class already has a 0 mana silence that has no drawback so this would be a 3,4th card without any viable target in a deck.
So either your trolling or you dont know much about cardgames but its one or the other if you realy think there could be anything close to be playable with this.
Id even argue itll be a sign of intelligence to not try to build a deck around this. You can play with your obvious Dog Turd, try to wrap it in tin foil, try to wear it as a hat. You can believe its a magically enchanted item of heroic power.
But in the End your playing with a Dog Turd and I will laugh.

you have to be joking... in what universe is silence (almost always reactive) game breaking like charge (always proactive)? since standard was introduced, the game has been always about tempo, which charge minions play into and silence never does. if blizzard really wanted to push a silence archetype, they wouldn't have said that they tried to limit the impact of silence... and volazj would be the worst card in a silence deck: you need a board for him to work, and would have to silence every token you create in the same turn. how would you do that without wailing soul? I appreciate the sentiment to try and come up with some deck in which purify would play a substantial role, but in the reality we suffer since the introduction of standard every possible inclusion of the card is gimmicky at best.
it might not be the worst card in the game (excluding it from arena might be a hint that it is), but it sure is the worst possible card for priest in the current meta.
You sound like you know the game well so no insult but... in this case, you're only seeing the obvious gimmick everyone else is talking about. To make Purify (or silence for that matter) work you do not need to stack your deck full of cards to silence. If you have a statue or a watcher sitting in play your opponent has no choice but to play around them or remove them. Priest is a pass-the-turn deck for the first 4 turns on a pretty consistent basis. The class is in the worst need of a two drop than any other mana slot in the game. That said, 22 cards in your build can be removal and late game threats (Priest can utilize neutral cards better than most other classes)... as for Volazj, 22 cards is more than enough to can get you there with death-rattles like the shade, twighlight summoners and more. Widen the scope of the build is my point. It doesnt have to be a gimmick.

HAHA I dont know card games? Fair I guess... but you think linear af. If you think the only value in having a sleeping 7/7 on the board is to silence it once you draw a purify and swing to the face than we both suck at card games. Forcing your opponent to deal with a potential threat might be a tough concept to wrap your mind around but you should try. Would you blindly holy nova if there was an egg waiting to drop a 4/4? maybe. Depends I suppose but the 7/7 is worse cuz you arent sure if they have the silence. Gimmicks rarely work. Dont play silence priest like a combo deck and it could work... if youre good enough at cards games I mean.

I still can't believe this was put in a an adventure mode and not a major expansion like TGT or WotOG.
Dust it into permanent oblivion.

Ben Brode tries to put Purify in a better light, tells us that we almost had a 1 mana version and a version that silenced anything.
Still sucks.

Ancient Watcher? Okay, two card four mana combo that gives you a yeti. Seems good.
Anger is the punishment we give ourselves for someone else's mistake.
