I'd rather play Voidwalker. This card is a little too situational for me. What's dissapointing is that a card needs to be discarded in order for the effect to occur. So if you Doomguard with 0 cards in your hand, no draw.

A 1/3 is pretty decent in zoolock. Discard-lock will probably never become an all-in thing, but discard synergy might find its way into other warlock decks. In the "normal" Zoolock deck we already have synergy with Soulfire and Doomguard. This card might justify putting in Darkshire Librarian as well. Probably won't justify Fist of Jaraxxus or Succubus.
This is what I am thinking, except I don't think Zoo is where it's at.
Right now Zoo is really refined as a deck list and I don't think this adds enough. Given the nature of the deck Zoo cannot afford to run too many situational cards: it needs to have the ability to curve out and play something meaningful every turn, only floating Leeroy Jenkins or Doomguard until the end. I could be wrong but I think the taunt on Voidwalker is more significant than the possibility (not even a guarantee) of drawing an extra card or two throughout the game.
I don't see discard decks becoming a thing simply because they have anti-synergy with themselves: it's a "combo" deck that discards its own combo. Anybody who's ever had two Doomguards or Soulfires as their last cards in hand knows this. That said, this is the kind of card that would fit in a slightly slower midrange-ish Warlock deck. I see Imp of Malchezaar as a tempo tool in those decks. Discard cards are already high-tempo given their tradeoff, but of course come with a hefty price that functionally has to be paid later with Life Tap when you run out of cards. Zoo doesn't mind tapping because it can usually play whatever it draws, but if you're running a slew of 5+ cost minions then having to tap could really bite you trying to play on curve as midrange.
As such, this is why I think if we do see Imp of Malchezaar played it will not be on the back of another discard card (although that wouldn't hurt). It will be when they give Warlocks a solid 5-6 cost midrange minion that encourages them to go beyond Zoo. Another spell to use with Cho'gall wouldn't hurt either, as he is just below playable due to a lack of deck archetype.
well... I think that could bring a new variation of zoo/demon warlock. We can abuse with card advantage with the drawback of discard cards. Might be a new archtype between zoo and demon, also in aggro or midrange configuration. This imp have a great resistance to get value in board control in the early game
IDK if its good enough to finally create a viable discard deck. I can tell you how the deck supposed to look. Its supposed to be super aggressive, explosive tempo deck. Where you use buffs to preserve minions from removal for rush and explosive potential. Blood Imp, Wrathguard, Demonfire are some of the cards that imo should be used in this kind of deck.
Also this card pretty much guarantees 2nd neutral demon legendary in Prince Malchezaar.
It has decent stat-line and very interesting text, that potentially could even let you build a deck around, but... You won't. You'll either end up having 2-4 discard cards and a low probability of using them when MI is in play, or you'll have to use cards that are actually bad when MI isn't in play.
Though this card is actually good enough to be used in zoo and maybe it will spawn some sort of more aggressive, demon-centered variation of the deck, that runs double Soulfire, double Doomguard, though I don't see that being very likely.
Surely it will see some experimentation. But this card is far from being meta-defining - unless Blizzard reveals two other discard-synergistic high quality cards
this card is a shame looking at warlock what he lost and what he gets instead. and it didnt stop at wotog it still coming from this "adventure" and i guess the next expansion wont be much different.
I don't really think discard warlock will be a thing, IMO this card won't make it through the experimental phase, it's a good 1 drop, but that's where it ends, we'll need to see the full set to correctly evaluate this card but I don't think the synergy will be enough.
Discard is a very strong drawback and I don't think blizzard makes their discard synergy powerful enough for the archetype to be at least playable... Perhaps if there was a card that shuffled back the cards into your deck it'd see a rather at least an experimental phase...
Obviously really strong if discard warlock becomes viable. If not, then it probably won't be played whatsoever. Looks to be an okay card though I'm not sure if this card alone will be able to push discard warlock into the spotlight.
You're only "paying" taunt for the ability, if you compare it with voidwalker. 1/3 for 1 is comparable to argent squire, which is played in some zoo builds.
The ability could be amazing with the right support, but it needs 2 drops that you really want to play immediately after it to work. It is unlikely to stick around to fire off a Doomguard unless you cast it the same turn on t6. Succubus and Darkshire Librarian are not good enough cards on their own, but maybe we'll see a viable partner for it in the new set - it needs an analogous pairing to Trogg/Totem Golem to be broken. Something like a 3/5 version of Succubus would do nicely.
I can't see this being a thing, solely because of how crippling discard is a drawback. It really wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't always random, but blizzard refuses to let the player choose what they discard, so it ends up an unusable mechanic. The only thing I can think of that would make this card, and discard by extension, usable is a card that reads," Battlecry: Discover one of the cards you discarded this game."
this card would work pretty well in a face lock with discard cards like Doomguard and Soulfire. no i'm not talking about the "discarlock" you always dreamed, that's a shitty and unplayable kind of deck since you can't control what you discard, I'm talking about a serious aggro face lock.

This card is amazing for zoo, 3 health for 1 mana is great.
The added effect is a plus, u cn play much more aggressively with this on board when u have discard effects in ur hand.
Turn 5 doomguard wont feel bad with this on board, soulfire tempo plays wont feel bad. its not like u r loosing key cards in ur deck. zoo is a "zoo" of cheap cards.
Now the cards this synergizes with are succubusSoulfireDoomguardDarkshire LibrarianDark Bargain. There rnt many cards unfortunately or fortunately but hey, if u want to make an all around discard deck there are some other cards that synergise with discard as well.

Pretty good card. Might see more play if it's a 4/4.
yeah and malganis is nowhere close to this. this is why i love blizzard they renovate but still keep value

It is repeatable card draw on a 1 drop with a decent body, not easy to set up like priest but still strong.

And where do warlock needs card draw seriously? because if you have to discard a card just to draw another sorry its just silly unplayable crap.

But sometimes, against a capable opponent, you cant really afford to lose cards off a soulfire on turn 2 or a doomguard on turn 5 / 6.

People will ignore it at first as they did with Fandral Staghelm n Brann Bronzebeard and they will learn the hard way.
