A trip down memory lane, a few interesting things. I was a midrange Shaman main on the Blizzard forums at the time, wheen the class had been dumpster tier for the better part of 2014-2015 (seriously not even Totem Golem was able to bring Shaman out of tier 4, it was that bad) and WOTOG expansion marked the most optimistic time for our class community forums, so I'll be able to comment on the differences in opinions between Shaman players and other players in the days leading up to Shamanstone. From what I recall, most of the Blizzard forum opinions were similar to the ratings here.
A lot of these rankings assumed C'thun decks would be tier 1, so they make sense within context, I wouldn't consider the cards overrated since C'thun Druid and C'thun Warrior saw a good few months of play.
I got a lot of heat for saying Eternal Sentinel was overrated. The reasoning being most overload cards overloaded for 2 anyway, so the 2 mana you spent on this means you'd still make the same play you would've that turn anyway but develop a 0 mana 3/2 at best. Also unlike Lava Shock it didn't affect the board. Turns out I was right, 3/2s just aren't impactful enough mid game.
Genuinely surprised that the evolve cards never turned out. They saw a little bit of play with cards like Dopplegangster, but they never really found a spot in the top tier decks like every Shaman main expected (especially in the case of Master of Evolution).
Kind of like with Caverns Rogue right now, the card everyone in the non-Shaman subforum complained about nonstop the first month or so was Flamewreathed Faceless, but most Shaman mains had figured out by week 1 that Thing from Below was the most powerful card Shaman got by a country mile and FWF would likely be relegated to aggro decks only. As it turns out, the players who actually play the class know more than the filth spewing morons who don't know how to tech against the 6 mana 7/7 and cry when it destroys them. Go figure.
Hallazeal the Ascended flopping was another huge surprise. We all thought that it would be the healing Shaman had needed for ages. Turns out you don't need healing when you're the aggressor and are better off developing undercosted minions, limiting Hallazeal to just control decks.
Other notes: Am'gam Rager: should've been rated at least at 95. Steward of Darkshire: what a fail, turns out 3 mana 3/3s suck. Princess Huhuran: ended up being overhyped which was unfortunate cause it was a well designed card. Deathwing Dragonlord: People thought the slowest card in hearthstone history was gonna be good? Call of the Wild: People didn't appreciate how powerful getting 3 minions undercosted even at 3 mana individually, for a bargain price of 8 mana was gonna be, turns out the card needed a nerf. Shatter: Okay unlike Am'gam Rager this isn't as obvious of a troll card, but I sure hope the people that rated this highly weren't serious... N'Zoth's First Mate: comically underrated even before patches existed, this thing was a mini Muster for Battle that could serve as curve filler. Possessed Villager: How was better Argent Squire (which saw lots of play in Zoo pre-standard) rated so poorly? Darkshire Councilman: boy we fucked up on this one, I was guilty of thinking it sucked too. Malkorok: People tunnel visioned so hard on the fact that it could give you Cursed Blade and forgot there was 17/20 good outcomes or whatever it was. Forbidden cards in general: we didn't properly value how useful flexibility and curve filler was. Finally, Yogg'Saron: I think I speak for anyone that played under the Aggro Shaman/Zoo/Yogg Druid/Casino Mage meta: fuck this card.
It looks like some people were trying to be funny with their voting. This is not a good list.
