I must be missing the hype? Raven Idol better in every way its 1 mana and gives you versatility ie spell or minion depending on the situation. This should have been a 1 mana card too same discover effect but instead of versatility of drawing a spell the pally gives buffs. Then it would be great now its mehh. at best in a meta where CALL OF THE WILD is a thing.
The only thing that scares me is the fact that usually discover mechanic is better when attached to a body, a spell is meh but still, has the potential to be really good especially in control
I'm shocked how well received this card has been. I can't see much reason to play this over Jeweled Scarab. They are both discover effects on 2 mana cards with a 1/1 perk attached. The difference is with Jeweled Scarab you get the 1/1 immediately and the discover effect is more consistent.
It's also way worse than Raven Idol, paying 1 extra mana for a +1/+1 boost is a poor trade in most cases, especially for minions over 6 mana. Raven Idol is also far easier to weave within your curve when you were otherwise going to float a single mana.
Anyone have some post-launch thoughts on this card? I've been trying it out in a slower paladin deck, just to see, and it seems like the +1/+1 added to whatever minion you discover is rather more powerful than I had initially thought it would be. It doesn't always give you good choices, though.

Pretty much this. Sometimes I've gotten great stuff from it (+1/+1 on a Sunwalker is very good), but other times you're just taking something that fits where you think you're going to be on curve in several turns.
I've found it useful as an activator for Pyromancer, so the card definitely has its points. Like a lot of this expansion--good in the right deck at the right time, but not tremendously or obviously powerful.
Yes, I have been trying this card out in a variety of decks, dragon themed, nzoth, healdin etc.
It's very fun since it often gives you a second tirion or even a tech card vs what you are facing.
However my final conclusion is that the +1/+1 is irrelevant, I never encountered a scenario where it mattered, and sometimes you just get horrible picks.
In a slower paladin deck you very often have 2 mana to spend, so it's not a question of tempo but luck of the draw.
therefore I say it's very fun, but I would not risk a tournament on it.
I originally voted the card as very good because I thought it would add some versatility to a rigid class, but in the end Paladin is so rigid because it is probably the class with the least amount of RNG. I changed my vote to bad for the time being.
I've been testing this card lately, in N'Zoth Paladin, as a means of grabbing more Deathrattle minions (similar to how Raptor Rogue uses Journey Below); however, I seem to be getting more legendary cards in the process instead. At this moment, I'm getting a legendary about 75% of the time, which is insanely good.

Welcome back, Unstable Portal. My, have you become more stable.
I think this is for the midrangey/controllish decks.
Also inb4 A Light in the Darkness Tavern Brawl/Class Challenge. I still wonder why there was no Raven Idol class challenge, maybe next adventure, with the A Light in the Darkness Class Challenge.

This card is way worse than Unstable Portal. 3 mana discount >>> +1/+1.
Depends on rng but overall its worth to have it

The end is coming!

discover=value/concede
If evolution is outlawed, only outlaws will evolve.

I play for fun. I don't rank very high.

I'm here to kick ass and play cards, and I'm all out of ass.
