Never found this to be a particularly broken card, only ever used in Handlock (and the old charge Warrior), but I suppose that it may be with the silence and BGH nerf. This feels like a really hard nerf though since most of the time you want to play it in multiples and with Sunfury/Argus, which now is really expensive/risky. It would have been fine at like 22 if it was such a problem.
Well no why I know why they made a card like Renounce darkness. When I que up with my lock deck and after a play a few turns and realize I miss all the rotated cards and my cheap giants I can say fuck it and be something else.
If BGH had been nerfed in a legit way I could see this nerf to molten as more fair. But since everyone is going to run BGH still and likely two when old gods drops, it makes this giant nerf really bad.
One of my favourite all-time decks was that Echo of Medivh deck with the echoed moltens. With this change, that deck could still function well enough. The other molten deck I had a tiny bit of fun with was the old warrior deck with Mortal Strike--also seems like it would still function well.
The only deck this really affects is Handlock, and deservedly so, I feel.
Atm aggro and control players need to think if they want to put a handlock (or giant mage) below a certain life threshold. It added an additional layer of decision making. Now no one has to care about that... just go face. Now at 13 life a molten giant is a generic 8 mana 8/8. Good job Blizzard.
Quick question: If summoning three things in one turn and adding effects is OP to some (Druid combo for example) then how is dropping two free Giants then playing Defender to add effects not considered OP by those same people? A lot of cards that were iconic and "must have" in a deck were nerfed as well. Before this nerf was announced, could you imagine a handlock/renolock deck w/o a Molten Giant or two? Now cards like Mountain Giant will see more play and we don't even know the extent of all the cards introduced in Old Gods yet. And to everybody crying about Antique Healbot, there's a new heal minion that heals based on the number of minions your opponent controls. It's different but it's an option in Standard. If you really want to use Darkbomb and Healbot, just play Wild.
I think that's just it. They couldn't make Mountain Giant weaker without making it unplayable. (doing nothing for 3 turns is already a pretty big drawback) So they made the deck that uses it weaker by nerfing another card that actually DOES remain playable by nerfing it.
Edit: misread the point of the comment, but yeah molten giant is easy to play around. Mountain giant isn't though, and I still consider this to also be a nerf to that card.

they had to based on the big game hunter nerf.
makes sense.
both cost more, can you imagine this staying at the same cost and BGH at 5 mana? no way.
5 is way way way way too much. 2 or 3 would have sufficed.
Put your faith in the Lock. *Desideratus Bellum*

Do we receive full dust refund? If so, I will get 1600 Dust since I got one in a pack FeelsGoodMan
Dumb nerf and I don't even play hand lock.

It would have been better as a 22-23 cost.

Bad nerf, just bad, it makes it unplayable, especially in the meta where aggro shaman will dominate.

maybe to much mana now... hm
I pretty much agree in other nerfs but this...this hurts a lot
The end is coming!
