You still do not get it . You are only calculating the draw option. There is a healing option as well. You are drawing a card which is 1 mana usually plus a 5 mana cost 5/5 + 1 mana for the versatility of choose effect.
Ps. I love seeing druids cry about this , in my eyes alwasy was a very overpowered card.
But the heal wasn't used 90% of the time - versatility means nothing if the second option is near useless. Now the problem with that is the reason the heal isn't used is because 'Draw 2 Cards' is way too strong and made the card overpowered.
Good thing it's trash now eh. This is not intelligent game design.
But you see fact is Blizzard wanted you to consider the choose one ability when evaluating whether to include this card in your deck or not . This was auto include because the card draw was insane . By reducing its card draw you now include this in your deck only if you value some healing as well. As you say ''90 % go for the card draw'' , then they should look at other options . I think that is what they wanted with this nerf.
At least make it a 6/6 or make it cost five T.T that would be balanced. This is just madness, madness I tell you! As we can see from most seven mana cards, like dr. Boom, 7 mana is apparently worth about 18 stats. I see most people on here saying 5/5 for 5 plus two for draw a card, choose one makes up for melding them into one card. However, as we can see, that's not how the card works. we're losing 8 stats, which is almost 4 mana (I'm even ignoring the boom bots effects), and 8 stats is worth about 4 mana. Draw two cards is worth three mana, which is also worth seven stats. Put them into one card and we can call it 4 mana, or 8 stats, and we have Ancient of Lore. so now with draw one card we have found ourselves at a one and half mana deficit. what's worth about 1.5 mana? 3 stats. We could easily make this a 6/7 for 7 draw a card, so a 6/6 shouldn't be a problem.
I guess this is valid if we add in the fact that the "choose" keyword is maybe word 0.5 to 1 mana? Gaining 5 health is worth 2 on top of the 5/5 for 5. idk I agree with some other posters here, should maybe be 6 mana now, though the 6 mana slot is already oversaturated.
Sorry, but what? Which 6 mana minions does druid have? Sylvanas Windrunner . Emperor Thaurissan is not really needed any more, since the Combo is gone.
For all you guys comparing this to Azure Drake, seriously, you purposely forgot that it has a choose one option, which itself is around 1 mana . Well done Blizzard ,well done .
Do you realise Azure Drake has also spell damage +1, is a dragon, and is a neutral card?

Go for Azure then and lose your aggro matchups like everyone else instead of having the versatility to heal with LoA
I think everyone is forgetting the fact that you also have the option to heal with it as well... Druid cards tend do sacrifice value for versatility and this card before the nerf was amazing value and very versatile. Seems like a balanced nerf to me

And do you think that having the versatility of healing for 5, instead of spell damage +1, is worth 1 more mana?
Spell damage can be devastating sometimes (especially if you use it with a druid spell like Swipe), don't pretend it's something irrelevant. This card is clearly overcosted.
Seems like a fine nerf to me. People seem to be forgetting that Druid's "choose one" cards are supposed to be weaker than comparative cards for the cost because of the versatility. AoL was not weaker than comparative cards; it was stronger. And Blizzard wants people to actually use the other effect now and then, not always feel drawing is the best option.

They could have made it a 6/6 with this effect.

Yeah, either they should have reduced the cost to 6 as well, or keep the 2 cards and increase cost to 8. This is typical nerfbat overkill.
Free dust.. The card is dead now.. Blizzard nailed it.. Is should be at 6 mana or a 6/6
AoL was really "card for draw", not "card for heal". If they nerfed draw they could at least make heal to 7-8 (and for hero only).
still okay-ish maybe? hmm
You talking to me ?

and yes this cards is dead with those stats.
My favorite card in the game just got destroyed. The deforestation is real. Rest in piece, AoL.
hmm, but yet Paladin card draw in Divine Favor doesn't even get a glancing blow? ugh

better :D

So for two more mana, we can do what azure drake does for -1/-1 and we don't get spell damage +1, or we get a worse antique healbot with +2/+2.
Really Blizz? You could have at least made it a 6/7 or something.
not broken anymore i think its now finally well balanced
