Those are 2 different classes. You cant compare it directly.
For example, Whirlwind would be a near unplayable card in paladin - while its defining in warrior.
Im not sold on this card beeing good, but this isnt rogue - and mage doesnt need the tempo like rogue does.
Actually you can directly compare this to FoK. This cards is like a really really really bad version of FoK, because FoK actually has synergy in rogue with cards like Teacher, Maly, Prep, Spell Power, Auctioneer. Yet still, even with all these synergies making FoK so much better, it is still considered borderline in Rogue.
Most experienced players will tell you that Whirlwind is really not a good card. It only sees play because of the overpowered synergy with Inner Rage and Patron. Whirlwind will disappear into the darkness in a couple of weeks time.
I think this card is better than most people seem to give it credit. Sure if the meta slows to a crawl it will be very niche but I still think there will be enough aggro and zoo decks out there to make this a great card to play.
What's with the little black strip at the very top of the art? It looks like somebody made this with Hearthcards.
Hearthpwn staff creates confirmed cards to get them here in English ASAP. They show up in different languages (and different places) and for example this one was in some Asian language (don't remember which one). The majority of Hearthpwn users can't read that, but can read in Enlish. That's why they put them here - recreated with Hearthcards - in English.
This card is getting a lot of crap for not being like the end all of 3 drops. As many pointed out, it's a nice middle finger to tokens and divine shields and murlocs and that alone warrants a spot in my tempo deck. I've got 8 spots to fill for Standard so unless I see some better stuff, this will probably have 1 slot.
Not sure why all the hate, card is a good solid anti-aggro tool. It's only "fairly" statted though (because built in arcane explosion) so it's not an auto include. Could have been a 2-3 without being OP.
But, ok, let's see where this is good. Against face hunters dropping Worgen, Abusive, Leper. It deletes the shield for both Argents. Amazing against Stand Against Darkness, but unsure if that card will see any play except as a Turn 8 Lul with Darkshire.
Bad: It actually enables Imp Gang Boss on the same curve, but does wipe the Imps at mid-point/late game shenanigans. Bad against Possessed Villager. When there are x/1+ minions on board. When there is no board. When they have a minion that can both survive the battlecry AND deal 2 damage.
Seems there are far more general and reasonable Bad scenarios to me. Would rather run Arcane Explosion for synergy. Outside of the questionable Demented Frostcaller, mages haven't gotten much of that.
After playing this card i can say it's underrated it shits all over the current meta with the Aggro Shamans, Aggro Warlock and Divine Shield Paladin that runs nothing but 1 health guys. In basically every game it's proving to be useful also top notch in Arena as well. My personal favorite is Forbidden Ritual board fill then say bye bye.

Literally every example you used to criticize this card was retarded, just speaking some truth here. You drop this card when you need double ping/multiple pings and finishing. I run 2 of these in my deck currently and every game it's hauled it's weight. Overall great card. It was one of the sleeper/Dark Horse cards that's awakening.
paladins hate this card
Arena mage. Guess they'll be keeping their T1 spot with the good cards being commons.
Like the design. And it seems valuable..

Disappointed.

Purely a meta card. Near useless in control metas, amazing in aggressive ones.
Favorite class: keeping all 9 of them equal in level.

Definitely underrated in the current meta. If you have Brann Bronzebeard on the board and you drop this guy, it wrecks your opponent in tempo mage.
