I think this is a great card. the 4/2 is obviously great weapon stats and while the elemental stat wise is not that strong if it gets a single target removal used on it or a minion trade you got that trade from a free deathrattle minion. Or even better you force them to use a stronger AOE removal spell because your elemental along with you most likely removing one of their minions with the last charge of the weapon creates a board swing that necessitates using the AOE when you would not have wanted to. Having the elemental die to aoe or even single target removal is not a bad thing, it is a plus because those now cant be used on your actual decks minions
Seems mediocre at first. Why would you want to play this instead of Doomhammer?
This is a weapon that counters harrison jones. As odd as that sounds. Seems absurdly strong imho, but it is 5 mana and there may be a lot of 4/5 and 5/5's in the meta at turn 5. On the other hand, Doomhammer being countered by Harrison is game losing.
The biggest problem with midrange shaman used to be that by using doomhammer to kill opponents minions you would mostly just kill yourself. Since shaman didn't have a reliable way to heal and extend the game
with the introduction of the new shaman legendary might make doomhammer stronger than previously. However you would probably still run 2 of these and then even also 1 doomhammer.
Why play over Doomhammer? Because it's way better at gaining tempo.
Sacrifices:
-Burst Potential
-Longevity
-Effectiveness dealing with small minions
Gains:
-Easier to deal with big minions
-Way less risk against weapon removal
-Able to make better tempo plays like Fire Elemental on following turn
Yes, this is a Tempo card and a very good one. Doomhammer is a finisher and I honestly don't think it will get nerfed because Blizzard knows Shaman needs the finishing ability and there are ways in the game to deal with weapons (seems people forget this). I wish people would stop comparing the two, even though I know it makes since because they are both 5 mana but they are very different cards.
P.S: you forgot one of the gains is #NoOverload ;)
A lot of people are saying "a 4/2 is easy to deal with" but forgetting, you do have to deal with it. And with 4 attack, it ISN'T easy to deal with, without losing resources, by mid-game minions (unless you're running a zoo deck). I would even be happy if it baited out AOE.
Would be amazing at 4 mana, not so good at 5 (it's the most crowed spot in Shaman) :/
Is 5 mana the most overcrowded spot in shaman. Now i rarely coment on idiotic posts but this statement is so far from reality that it is not even worth replying to
Definitely not worth the mana and/or the Epic status. Death's bite, Truesilver, Doomhammer, Assasin's Blade are all better than this.
Do you actually realize how insane death's bite and Truesilver actually are? This is about on par with Assasin's blade and serves a completely different purpose than Doomhammer. This is a fine card especially considering Shaman can only play one of the other weapons you mentioned (and rarely ever wants to play that weapon outside of an aggro list).
This weapon is not that good, compared to doom hammer not enough damage and compared to power mace or stormforged axe its not that strong. But the thing about weapons is that there are so few of them they do not need to be good to be played. The deathrattle is meaningless on this weapon. compared to the warrior 5/2 it is amazing. Also it needs you to be ahead on board, if behind killing small minions with this is terrible and will be very terrible vs zoo on the other hand doom hammer is amazing against zoo. Think about this weapon on turn 5 attack turn 6 fire elemental and attack that is a huge tempo swing over 2 turns. The problem with shaman is the lack of healing. Yeah the new legendary is great but it needs other cards to heal. I think cards like healbot will be much better, lets see if the woG meta will let shamans actualkly use weapons.
This weapon is good because there are few good weapons that dont overload and will need reliable healing or a slow meta game to see a lot of play
This card is much better in midrange and control decks than Doomhammer. Doomhammer honestly is not that good if you're using it to control the board and not just Smorc every turn. Also, Doomhammer costs 8 mana overall for only 4 instant damage, which is a huge price to pay if you're playing a midrange or control deck that likely doesn't run lava shock.

It curves out perfectly with Master of Evolution and Fire Elemental
Looks like a corrupt mailbox
5 mana Death's Bite 2.0 for Shaman
Ok so comparing this to doomhammer.

I think... this is really good.

At least no overload, so that aspect is better than Doomhammer. The overload was a big issue for Shaman as a class

Oops...
This is The Hammer of Twilight. Not Twilight's Hammer
Martillo do Crepúsculo - The Hammer of Twilight
Martillo Crepuscular - Twilight's Hammer
Turn 4 coin this, turn 5 doomhammer 6 dmg not bad
there are is no innocence only degrees of guilt
People should know that:
Doomhammer is Good for face and killing small minions
Twilight's Hammer is Good for control game
2 different architectures

"Hey Pal, Trade Prince Gallywix here!"
All Classes Golden - 11/5/2016
Martello del Crepuscolo - Martillo do Crepusculo
Martello Crepuscolare - Martillo Crepuscular
But as long as the Twilight is a cult in WoW lore, it is not supposed to be spelled like that, so it is definitely goin to be Twilight's Hammer
The end is coming!
