the more i thin about this card, the better it seems in control deck like control mage or control priest.
both decks s has a low creature count but their win condition are high end high impact creature that you are running or you stole. and many of the time, they don't have a battle cry effect. the fact the RNG of this card is easily manipulated makes it seem betterand and rather than a card you just throw into a ramp deck , i think the slower you can get this card out the better. this is not a card you want to play sas soon as possible but rather when you know you have a lower chance of getting devastating low drops like doomsayer or acolyte of pain or if you do ultimately play it in ramp, darnassus aspirant or any other low end drop you have that you don't want to hit mid to late game. this isn't a card you want to stick into your deck without consideration, like reno, it requires a very stally late game deck that requries you to hit the RNG at the right time. for the listed reasons, i do believe, this is a contender for control decks like maly shaman, freeze mge, andcontrol priest.
I'm really tired and disappointed in people being skeptical about his effect. "Oh, he's not even as good as Varian, he can pull out any crappy minion, he's removed super easily!"
First of all, Varian is a class legendary in a class that can't make extreme value out of him yet. If Varian was a neutral, it would be insane in some decks. Y'Shaarj can be INSANE in some decks.
Second, it's clear this isn't for a midrange deck, it screams only heavy control and combo. For instance, in a Rogue deck where you have tons of spells, Y'Shaarj becomes extremely strong because you can play your early game minions, which you'll be mulliganing for anyway, and with Gang Up to cycle tons of strong late game minions into your deck, and with mechanics like Stealth, it just becomes ridiculous. Y'Shaarj is a card that many who currently see it as weak will quickly hate when they lose to it, as it enables a lot of new things not quite possible before.
And of course, removal is seeing nerf. BGH is a huge target, and it just so happens to be the most OP problem for many WOG cards so far. That said, Y'Shaarj is meant to close a game out anyway (imagine playing Y'Shaarj + Prep + Gang Up and immediately summoning a second Y'Shaarj--the chances are actually pretty damn reasonable).
This card is huge for control decks that don't have game finishers like Grommash Hellscream. The fact that it's a neutral just makes it all the more unexpected when played. It's a good thing to see when a card like this comes out in an expansion filled with Midrange and Control cards.
P.S. Not to mention, Y'Shaarj can enable the Ancient One, especially when combo'd. Gang Up Y'Shaarj, Gang Up Blood, and your opponent has basically a timer to win if they don't have the several, several tools for removal (aka theyre not priest).
Blizzard should stop adding more removal with each new expansion, because this is going out of control. Soon people will play only minions with charge, deathrattle like summon a kopy of this minion (kappa, yet sad truth), or some endofturn effect like Rag or at least Ysera.... Just retarded dude wtf.
Just build the board to counter enemy minions not by no-brainer spells like Shadowords , hexes, etc. Just passive reactive plays. Thats what i meant. Play the card trading game you know, where "even single point of damage could mean difference between victory and defeat"@LorewalkerCho.
I don't get why people think this is a good card. You could be winning then play this card and die from getting hit in the face with direct damage spells, heal your opponent, or give your opponent a way better board then before you played this card. Yes this card could work in your favor but that doesn't always happen. If this card is playable which I doubt it will be it will be a very toxic card because it requires very little skill to play and is way too random. I honestly think that this card was made to be a gimmick rather than a competitive card.
Late game decks don't want big lategame minions on board? Now granted I don't think this is the most efficient way to do that aside from Ramp Druid who has ways to handle a significant portion of large minions, but I'm pretty sure saying this is an effect universally unusable by lategame decks is incorrect.
I think so far this is the most fun Old God, and honestly if a Resurrect Priest running a significant portion of its control front end as spells becomes plausible I think it would make for an interesting win condition. Analyzing a card in the context of the current meta and deck lists being run is a poor decision, which is why people do have a point when they say "we have most of the set left to see".
People get caught up on the loss of Battlecries, but depending on BGH's new incarnation and the loss of Lightbomb (one reason Varian was bad) having even one big guy and a smaller guy is going to be worth the 10-mana cost with an effect that will snowball a win if left unchecked.
If you can close a game out by creating a massive board (which I would argue is the goal of this card), Fatigue is a pretty irrelevant. Fel Reaver operated under a similar premise and saw a good amount of play, it just did it earlier and at a significantly more punishing cost.
Sorry for burrying this out, but your comment made me laugh.
Comparing Yshaarj with Fel Reaver is pretty damn awkward. If you run Fel Reaver, then fatigue and lategame are the very least of your worries. Because you most likely play an aggro deck which kills the opponent before turn 8. Yshaarj however costs 10 mana and not 6, and you will probably have only a few cards left in your deck when you play it.
Another crappy legendary I got. In 100 packs I got: Y'Shaarj, Herald Volazj and Hogger, Doom of Elwynn. Hogger is the only one that is playable and it isn't even good. ''Hurr durr but Y'Shaarj is good in an ancestral communion deck''. I don't care for playing a deck with terrible consistency. It's not even fun when it works because it takes 0 skill and it ruins your opponents day. Fun and interactive.

Yours isn't that bad at all, I've opponed a bit less (80 packs)
And I have Herald, Boogie Monster, Zerus, Soggoth
Soggoth isn't that bad, but you get the idea... No N'Zoth, no Yogg-saron, No Emperor, no good class legendary. and I rather want Y'Shaarj than any of the legendary I got.
I made a high control Rogue with a very consistent Y'Shaarj/Gang Up combo. It works surprisingly well and would recommend it to anybody that doesn't know what they want to do with their Y'Shaarj.
The key is to combo early and keep the board controlled long enough to get a Y'Shaarj/Prep/Gang Up combo going. Or just reduce the costs of both cards with Thaurissan. More times than not, you'll end your turn with two 10/10 bodies on the field.

Okay, I'm having a ton of fun with this card. Hands down the best astral communion card, and along with forbidden ancient, communion druid is a real thing.

is there any use for this card outside astral communion since i cannot afford crafting 2 of those in any near future
i got this legendary from a pack and i dont know what to do with it i need dust for yogg saron and im feeling kinda bad about disenchanting this card
Pretty fun on Barnes Resurrect priest. He among with high threat cards like rag, ysera, pulled by barnes are immediately taken care of by your opponent... Just use you rez to bring them back..

... Wouldn't a Yshaarj'd Forbidden Ancient just be a 1/1?

I got this in the release packs, but I still haven't figured a good use. Anyone?

It works lol. Trust me. I have consistent 60% winrate, but I definitely feel like this deck could be made much better.
I smell good
Astral Communion Druid anyone? I find it to be very good in such a deck with very high top end and a small bottom end.

Ramp Druid. You can try synergy with Naga Sea Witch.
Card is very slow for other decks.
