Toshley can give you spare parts that you don't want to play on a specific turn, e. g. you don't want to stealth your flame waker. Bananas on the other hand are pretty much always useful.
Overall this guy is very similar to Toshley. You get 5/5 + 4 total (banana) stats for 8 mana and you get the same 5/7 and 2 total stats for the stats spare part or the chance to have some cards that offer utility, Reversing Switch, Emergency Coolant, Time Rewinder and Finicky Cloakfield are situational cards but their effects can have greater impact than bananas. Toshley rarely sees play on tempo mage, I think it's going to be the same with this guy.
Did you ever get an answer to this? Seems like the bananas from tavern brawl could be really powerful, but if it's just normal +1/+1 bananas then tyrant of the vale goes down in value.
I could see it getting played. It has weaker health than Toshley, but Banana is more consistent than a Spare Part. And it's a battlecry. With Sorcerer's Apprentice in play it's a 7/7 for 6 mana.
It depends on how tempo mage adjusts to standard. There might be room for it in some decks with the cards that are getting lost (especially secrets) and if the meta shifts towards mid-range.

Ibn Fahd.
For only 8 mana you can have a 7/7! Think about it guys.

Well got it in a pack.. currently testing on my tempo mage, good results honestly, but my deck is clearly not refined enough yet..
