Well, I don't play Blackwing Technicians in my Dragon Priest. I use Dark Cultists instead. So, I think you are patently wrong that every Dragon Deck uses Blackwing Technicians. I certainly don't. And I suspect a ton of folks don't. There are better options at 3 mana than a 2/4 that can conditionally become a 3/5.
No, it's true that Blackwing Technicians are very popular - and rightly so - in dragon decks. It's a concrete advantage that is being provided especially due to the fact you choose the dragon theme, and one that doesn't go away without a silence (btw I've never ever seen a silence wasted on one). Dark Cultists can very often provide zero advantage, and they take up mana space out of Blackwing Technicians. How does this translate into the synergy theme? It's very easy to see, not only due to the appeal that it has on players that like synergy decks, but also due to the basic fact that it helps the viability of a specific deck built around it. C'Thun is indeed one of those, and one deck type that players will be looking into to replace their formerly strong decks that were phased out of Standard.
Nothing wrong with this card. It's good to great stats. But, I think it suffers from being buffed by C'thun instead of the other way around. I think C'thun decks are going to be best using C'thun as a finisher. This does nothing to further that strategy. I think folks will rather play something in the 4 slot that buffs C'thun than this.
Its' a little bit like Blackwing Technician to me. Blackwing Technician would be fantastic if it had teh Dragon tag, then it could feed into your dragon strategy instead of feeding out of it. As such there are usually better options. That being said, a Naked Amberweaver is a better card than a naked Blackwing Technician, so maybe I'll be wrong. But, my guess is that folks will choose a 4 drop that buffs Cthun instead of this in Cthun decks, assuming a good 4 drop option exists.
From this C'Thun cards we saw till now, it is clear that C'Thun decks will be played as Tempo/Midrange decks with strong minions on curve and C'Thun as a finisher.
People are still trying to make the Silence argument with EVERY CARD that is previewed?
I will be quite pleased if you waste your Silence on this instead of the Validated Doomsayer I'm going to play on turn 5.
(And no, if you play an understatted Silencing minion now, you probably will not have enough Attack to kill my Doomsayer for free, especially after I trade my 4/5 into your junk.)
I can't imagine it'll ever be all that easy to get to 10 atk by turn 4, which will make this card not all that great. I guess we'll have to see the rest of the set though.
This card is insane. A 4-mana 4/10 with absolutely no draw back when requirement not meet or silenced? A 4/10 is impactful even on turn 10, on turn 4 it is insane, and with the ramping ability of Druid makes it really REALLY INSANE. I think C'Thun Druid will be viable just because of this card, regardless what other cards in the expansion will be. It has a potential to grow to MC's overpower-level, depends on what we get in the expansion.
PS: We can even use this card in a non-C'Thun deck!
C'Thun affecting your other minions in addition to the other way around? Now we are talking about an interesting deck archetype. More of these kinds of effects please.
Since we didn't saw enough cards from set yet, I can't craft a Druid deck revolves around C'Thun in my mind yet. But when I look at the current Midrange Druid list, in standart format there will be empty places. Combo , Ancient of the Loreand Big Game Hunter is getting (expected to be) nerfed. Shredder, Shade and Loatheb is rotating out. So thats 11 slots. C'thun and this occupies 3 slots. If you put this card in you will also want to put in Beckoner of Evil just for the potencial combo. If Blizzard releases followers that will fit into spare spots well, I can see this working even in Midrange Druid.
So the real question for me is this - does C'Thun [/card] need to be out for the [card] Klaxxi amber weaver to get the buff or just have ten attack in the deck? Because if its the latter that is hugely powerful. Coin out a Beckoner of Evil turn one, play a second one turn two, a Twilight Elder turn three, and then the klaxxi as a huge minion turn four. If its the former its still good but less broken.
interesting card, but i dont think it will be viable.
druids usually play wild growth turn 2, and if you play something like beckoner of evil, you ruin your ramp, which leaves turn 3 to play your cthun buffing card, which at most would give cthun 2/2 and make this card dead.
Druids play Wild Growth early if they have it, but very frequently they don't, and if they get it after turn 7 they just continue to play on curve and leave it for turns 10+ for the card draw. So instantly ramping into it like this guy says...
...is a rather poor decision because it will remain a 4/5 & you will lose its buff, unless you need to get something on the board immediately to deal with aggro. Even in that case, the stats are very decent.
Pretty Solid.
Love this card and will be playing some sort of Druid C'thun deck to use it.
Pumped for this expansion.
Solid stats, nice upside if you complete the condition, good card SeemsGood

...There is just no way that happens...
(It happens)
I didn't browse all the replies, but I need to ask: do you think this card's battlecry will ignore whether cthun has been played or not?
Is there a hidden "wherever it is"?

Why am I sticky?
Looks pretty sweet.
