... and you paid 4 mana for a 2/4, while he paid 6 mana for a 6/6.
You STILL lost the game to his tempo.
Situational and overpowered counters are not the solution to overpowered cards.
That's the irony of it all:
This card is too slow to stop Mysterious Challenger -- even if it's practically useless versus non-secret classes.
The status chance for each secret destroyed, if 3 then you have a 5/7 or a 7/9 for maximum effect, this card is the perfect response for MC and the only thing bad about it is release too late.
Blizzard would never release a card that discards something from your enemy hand or deck.
Quick question and the answer might not be known. Does this just mean the secrets in play or does it include all the secrets in the deck? So would this just be like an all class Flare or just the secrets that are on the board currently? Thanks!
Thanks so much! I could see a few people throwing in some lesser secrets in as bait to get that card out before walloping them. Good plan.
Kinda sad that this will make Freeze Mage (one of the best / thoughtfull decks in my opinion) disappear as well, just because they needed to make a card to compensate for Mysterious Challenger being op as fuck...
This card will never see play because it doesn't need to be in your deck to stop people from playing secret paladin. It's a psychological deterrent.
This card is more likely to see play then a lot of bad cards from this expansion that'll come.
Simply enough, this card does something in the right circumstances. It's a tech card you know.
And how many Kezan Mystics did you put in your deck? And how unplayable was Freeze Mage because of it? Teching in Hearthstone for certain decks just doesn't work. Secret Eater is only playable when over 50% of ladder is secret decks, something which isn't even true currently.
Well little boys and girls you finally have your own Squidward Q. Tentacles in the game
As a mage secret player i have to say that what kill mages secrets in standar is mad scientist retire, more than that card.
is a good tech card for wild. Not that i personally like it but reconize it. Will almost not see play in standar unlest meta makes a secret deck "cancer" as some say.
And as someone posted before cheering this card. Fair is FAIR. So i still want to see more tech cards that broke boring, abusives gameplays. As a neutral minion that destroys enemies armor, or destroys all demonds ( yes jaraxxus included) so that someone cant make a game only to push armor up careless and clearing board, for example
Is this card even healthy to standard though? I know Mad Scientist was op, but with him gone eitehr Blizz wants to destroy secret usage or they`re planning secret synergy even worse than MS and Mysterious Challenger.
Was Kezan mystic even truly good for this game? I remeber the time she was being used was a time when mage and hutner were very prevalent and there was not much you could do about them but play counter decks(which newbs couldn`t afford), and it was`nt very fun to play gaisnt her, and it also wasn`t very fun to play against face hunter and Mech mage either.
Secrets might never be viable( depending on this expansion) and they release a pretty unfun counter to it while Secret paladin is dead in standard. I don`t think that should`ve been the correct design choice(I`m not really a designer though)
See a card that changes the game even though it will see no actual play. The fact it exists is enough to prevent secret decks from being developed in the new meta. Card is garbage compared to Flare, but whatever.

Just hoping someone shares my point here.
heres how the thing goes... they wont stop releasing secrets. and you can guess some of them will be pretty damn good. so standard aside to keep wild balanced you have to create a counter like that. cause if you dont a certain secret archetype can be OP for a really long time or forever. this cards keeps in check all the secret decks only by existing. so i believe it is a smart move. secret decks will surely exist in the future butthey wont be 90% of the meta cause of this card
I have mixed feelings about this card. The secret mechanic is fun and this card literally kill that mechanic and kick out from game. Im done with secret paladin but this card is like nuclear weapon.
"We need to give people options to deal with Secrets"
"Bring in the Nuclear Option"
Right? This is absolutely ridiculous. This card would've been perfectly balanced without the buff considering the huge potential it has to waste your mana and your cards. What the hell, Blizzard?

Not only that the meta will change dramatically, but I am sure that people are missing the point of this card. Not only its a way to balance the Wild format as you mentioned, but it gives other classes an option because Kezan Mystic is being rotated out. Furthermore, this card definitely makes you think about how to play their secrets in a smarter manner. With Mysterious Challenger being the victim of this card; this card will allow you to make the decision of how many secrets to play per turn. Do you really want to give your opponent an 9/9 or 10/10 creature? or do you just want to give him a 5/5 or 6/6? Keep this in mind, there are only TWO COPIES, why the fuck is everyone making a big deal of those card? If the meta is secret heavy, then people will play two of these just like right now with Zoo people are playing Mind Control Tech. I don't think people are going to go out of their way to put two of these in anticipation that people are still playing Secret Mage or Secret Paladin. This card feels like it will be like Loatheb (RIP) , you play it to get the most value out of it, or to use it as part of a win condition depending on the board state.
Mysterious Challenger : "Who am I? None of your business!"
Eater of Secrets: "Oh, I believe it is. You see, you are now my bitch!"
Wowza. Well there ya go. We can't bitch about secrets anymore.
Now, if only we had actual matches with sideboards where cards like these can be used effectively...
I like my competition extraSalty.
I think this card will be run about as much a kezan mystic is run now.
Because against non secret classes... its pretty bad.
So... ya. Cool, but its a niche tech. And, against freeze mage, kezan is better. I'd rather steal the ice block rather than just destroy it.

Most people yesterday: "The new cards are crappy", "The new expansion sucks", **whine whine whine whine...
New Card - Eater of Secrets: **sigh of relief** "Thank you Blizzard"
Everyone just needs to to calm the fuck down, have some fun with the old cards, and enjoy the next few weeks that come.
Also, nice card Blizzard. Keep them coming!
