So, I don't remember correctly, but did Gigafin use to trigger deathrattles when devouring? The mechanic doesn't say "destroy" so should it act similarly to a "Poof!" mechanic?

Yes,the wording may not say so but he technically destroys them.

They should buff Gigafin and Twisting Nether (again).
To "Poof!" the minions, like the Twisting Nether from Sargeras.
