Holy crap. My Reno Hunter deck got me to D5 but I cant win a single game now. The amount of obscene buffing, board filling every single turn is unbelievable. How in the world can these decks have like 25/25 worth of stats by turns 3/4? Even if you wipe the board.... too bad. Its coming again next turn. You have a taunt do ya? Yeah - good luck. Reno? Worthless. Zephyrs? Useless. Holy shit. And Im sorry but these decks are not deep in thought here. They are flicking cards and buffs out there faster than you can say WTF, LOL.
Is it even worth trying to use Highlander decks at this ranking? Doesnt seem to with Hunter anyways. You gotta "join them to beat them"? That sucks. I hate playing aggro. Do you have to resort to fun-killing Res Priest or crap like that? I hope not. Geesh.
Oh it does..... for ONE turn. The problem is on the next turn they reload 100% and usually even worse. Thats what happens when cards cost too little and are way too powerful. Especially the buffs. Its stupid at this point.

Reno Hunter, really?
Playing the meta is just a part of the game, if your deck stops working at a certain rank, it might be time to switch it up...
I tried really hard to get legend with even mage this season, but was stopped by the same decks you have issues with. There are ways to counter them, though! I switched to a tried-and trusted companion, and made it to legend fairly easily after 5 last bosses missed with even mage.

I understand being rigid in your deck choice, but ultimately you're playing a very very fair deck against the top echelons of what Wild has to offer. Wild is an inherently unfair meta - it wasn't meant to be balanced well at all. Hunter has never been good in Wild (believe me, I'm hurting for it, it's my favorite class) and probably won't be until it can be as unfair as Token Druid, or Mage, or Rez Priest.
You should be proud you've gotten this far with Highlander Hunter. I've only made it to Diamond 7, and that was with Even Hunter a few months ago, and Even Paly this month.
I took Reno Shudderwock Shaman and Celestial Druid deep into Legend this month (I think max rank was #275).
Not sure what Reno Hunter is or is not capable of doing, but there are certainly non-aggro decks that can make it thru the Wild meta.

I know, it’s ultimately my fault for being stubborn, LOL. It just seemed like I was making headway up until D5 and then my slightly above 50% win rate turned into around like 10%. Geesh, I suck! :)
If a meta is 100% something it should be the easiest thing in the world to counter deck, I just don't understand people who don't want to adapt to the opponents they are facing, it is a core component of this game, you can either be the meta or counter the meta.
In Wild, any deck you play should always destroy at least two of the meta decks, doesn't matter if it's meta itself or tier 4 or whatever as long as it can counter popular T1-T2 decks. I say two, because if you only target one deck, the matchmaking system will punish you and you will rarely see that deck. (We have all seen this, don't try to argue with me that this is just a bias or low sample size, you get a different pocket meta based on what deck you play and what cards are in your deck, and that's how a game so unbalanced can keep its balance)
As a hunter you even have Flare...if you struggle with APM mage you could use Pressure Plate..they run only crucial mionions. With Stitched Tracker you can double cards that you need in matchups.
Use Hungry Crab in your deck. Its perfect against shamans and all buff decks that run Crabrider. Also Freezing Trap is great against buffed stuff.
Some good advice here. I can probably tech better. I just hate when you do make tech changes and then inevitably never face said deck again. Dead cards hurt your other games a lot. I managed to get to D4. That’s good for me. Try to go a little further this season. Going to tweak the deck a bit.

If a Zephyr can't save you then nothing will.

I hit legend with renolock just fine everymonth
I did it some months as well, but this month might be impossible with all the mages around and the nerfs, if any may not be enough. :(
I dont know about hunters atm. Last month i reached legend with HL Shaman. Good cards against mages are Eater of Secrets, Dirty Rat, Loatheb, Cult Neophyte, Zephrys the Great...These are all neutral cards.
Use Sphere of Sapience if you want to fish quicker for crucial cards.
That would be my approach. Than there are 2 important things in your game:
1. Mulligan in the start..know what you face and what you are looking for against it in your deck
2. Timing...you need to use your counter cards in the right moment. If you waste it, its gg...
It cant work always, but small things might have a big impact on your win % :).
