Wild isn’t more expensive then standard. There are several cheap decks (around 4-5k dust) like secret mage, token druid, odd decks in general (mainly paladin), odd warrior, odd dh, aggro pala, handbuff pala, libram pala is cheap if you have the standard cards, big priest (vargoth is the only legendary), darkglare (no legendarys required), apm mage ( only stargazer luna, Mozaki version is worse then wakers ), murloc shaman (if you have the standard cards, btw you don’t need the quest it’s bad), quest rouge, discard lock, new cute zoolock (both need only Solarium and no epics), pirate warrior (quite expensive, needs rokara, patches, Leroy (patches is a good craft for rogue aggro (odd/kingsbane) and token druid with minions). Most expensive slow decks use the same legendarys (Reno, kazakus, zola, zilliax). Raza priest isn’t as expensive as you might think plus the highlander cards see play outside of it. Very expensive are greedy renolocks and control warlocks, reno lunas pocket Galaxy mage, things like Reno shudder shaman (in general all greedy decks, but they tend to be bad:D)
best decks right now should be apm mage (if played right), handbuff pala, darkglare, secret mage -> all cheap.
if you are really interested in wild you should look at the vs data reaper report for wild. You will see that it isn’t as expensive as you would think, many standard cards see play, and keep in mind that dust cost on websites don’t take the cards you have got for free in the core set into account (e.g. the 5 cost 3/3 divine shield tutor)
Someone else has already explained in a different thread that not everyone just wants to hop on with a cheap, effective deck and climb.
I've started playing wild and don't give a hoot about climbing. This discussion isn't solely about competitive wild, it's around the fact that there's clearly a gap for a good amount of players and it's how can we make wild more affordable for people who want to experience old cards but not necessarily try hard at the ladder side of things.
As long as you only see this through the lens you've posted above, you're just going to be talking past people. Not everyone wants a cheap, OP deck. A big part of the appeal of wild is getting to use those expensive, cool cards that you maybe weren't around for when they were in standard. Cards like the death knights, kazakus etc are cards that some people have just never been able to experience. Telling people to craft a secret mage deck isn't helpful at all, they may not want to grind out wins with a single cheap deck.
Basically you're responding to a very narrow part of the overall issue.
Not to mention that we now have modes like duels and even some brawls which lean into the wider collection. Crafting a secret mage deck and grinding ladder does nothing for you if you enjoy duels.
1. experimenting in standard is expensive too since the game itself is expensive. A new deck with some fancy late game is about 40 packs if you need most of the cards
2. if you want to play the cool high cost cards like deathknights than Go for it but it won’t be fun. Expensive cards are bad in wild unless cheated out early, the only playable dks are shadowreaper and bloodreaver, the others are horrible. Value games are almost non existent because even the slow decks kill you way before fatigue or you get outvalued by Dk guldan plus tickatus
3. of course you can play for fun and experiment which I do, but greedy decks won’t be fun to play unless you accept to lose around 70% of the games
4. I recommended some good decks to start with, and many of them aren’t Brain dead. Aggro in general is only easy to play on lower ranks, and especially in wild were aggro mirrors are the most common thing it’s quite challenging. Furthermore, you can easily craft multiple of the recommended decks with a moderate amount of dust. And many people enjoy climbing. Of course it’s expensive to get a big wild collection. Because again, the whole game is expensive.
5. why should you get the cards for free / cheaper for which other people (like myself) spent time and money because they decided to play wild long time ago? Then you need to refund Every Single wild card someone owns before changing the cost (at least the difference)
6. when you start playing hearthstone, it’s not like you have many decks to play, you have to grind/pay to get them.
7. my post was only about the false claim that wild is expensive. It isn’t. It is expensive to have many wild decks, but so is having many standard decks. You would reward the people who dust there stuff every rotation because they wanted to play standard only and now aren’t satisfied with it anymore.
8. I am not against making the game cheaper, I would prefer making everything cheaper. If wild gets cheaper - nice. But then we need a dust refund (I mean the difference between old and new cost) for all wild cards. Other way, it’s unfair.
5. why should you get the cards for free / cheaper for which other people (like myself) spent time and money because they decided to play wild long time ago? Then you need to refund Every Single wild card someone owns before changing the cost (at least the difference)
While you are correct, it is nothing new with stuff losing value over time. I used to play mtg, and old cards lost value, and some gained value (physical cards so a different I know). I personally do not understand why the fact that someone spent resources to get something a long time ago means that they are guaranteed the same value a few years later. It's not like the cards are disappearing from the players that already has them or that the stats are changed. So why should they even refund? They will do it because the player base would get mad otherwise, but there is no logic behind it.
No this shouldn’t happen. Y’all are so entitled it’s ridiculous. Why should old players that kept the cards they invested in be fucked over because new players want to get everything immediately for free? Wild isn’t even that expensive anyway unless you literally want to play every deck in the format! Which is just absurd but i wouldn’t be surprised that’s what some of the people here think they deserve...
why don’t you idk work up your collection like everyone else had to?

In what way would old players get fucked over? It is not affecting your cards.
I wondered when this kind of comments would start pouring in.
We bought those cards when they were new, we enjoyed them when they were new, we've enjoyed these cards for years and somehow you feel that if they become cheaper now you lose value?
No, that's not really the point. You may try to pretend that it is, but the real reason you don't want these cards to be cheaper is that you like having a larger collection than other people. It makes you feel special. That's petty, but you'll never acknowledge it.
P.S. i own the entire classic set and 80-90% of all older sets. I've been here since the beta but unlike you i understand that people who started later than me had less time to expand their collections organically. Making older cards more accessible will be great for the game and it might mean than modes like Duels won't be DOA in the future.

It’s a major “fuck you” to the time and investment i made in the game. I just don’t see why new players can’t work to get a wild collection. I started playing during the witchwood so I didn’t have all the old cards before then either. I decided that i wanted to play wild so that’s what i started working towards. It was actually very rewarding slowly getting cards like loatheb, thaurrisan, malganis etc. what I’m saying is if new people all of the sudden get those cards much easier than i had to simply cause they want it now: then it was all just a big fucking waste of time.

No one is proposing to take your cards away. Also, you already have years of enjoying those cards. It is something new players can't get unless they invent a time machine.
Dont get me wrong I would like wild to be cheaper but only with dust refund. Otherwise it’s unfair
No. It isn't. You had those cards for years. You used them for your enjoyment. If someone else will get those cards yours won't disappear. There are no reason for any refund if Blizzard will decide to lower the price.
BTW, Should I demand a refund for cards in the upcoming purchasable decks because I kinda crafted those cards... It would be cheaper for me to not craft them and just buy those purchasable decks! Now some entirely new player can install Hearthstone and buy most control Warlock cards for a way cheaper price than I did. By your logic it is unfair.
Also, nowadays, new players get A LOT more packs than when I started. Is it fair? Should I demand all those packs, too? And those lazy players that skipped few months (or more) get pack quests and a FREE DECK for doing nothing? IS IT FAIR!? Yes, it is absolutely fair. Them getting more doesn't hurt me.

That isn’t true at all. You can get those cards. The wild card pool is massive yes but the OVERWHELMING majority of them are shit. You don’t need a full collection to enjoy wild.

Well i guess we gotta agree to disagree then lol
i could settle for a compromise though. If new players get free shit than i want free shit too. Half dust compensation for my wild collection! >:) that way it’ll be easier for ME to get into standard. Fair?

Yea sure why would i not want you to get dust. I doubt Blizzard will want to but why would I not. Most people would probably see it as a positive thing that players get it easier, instead of being frustrated that other people get stuff.
Yeah and those of you who want it to be easier to get into wild and tell us to don’t „whine“ for refunds why are you exactly against refunds? You want entire sets for free/cheap, but other people who spent more dust on it (and no, not for years, there are wild cards I crafted this month), dust that they could have spent on more cards to not get it back? If you are against that, fine - no more refunds for hof/ nerfs /anything. I bet there are people here arguing against the refund who whined for ysera refund (an unplayable card, regardless of the dream cards) even though they got a new one that’s strictly better or kargal refund (a card which wasn’t nerfed directly (there wasn’t a kingsbane refund or a baku refund after leeching poison / nitroboost nerf although those cards got significantly worse)). I wasn’t against those refunds, don’t get me wrong. But why on earth should anyone here be against the wild refund unless they get paid by blizzard?
easy example: wild epics go to 200 dust in a month. I crafted an epic today for 400. with the new cost, i could have crafted two additional rare cards, which the people who get into wild after making it cheaper now can. So, they clearly habe an advantage. Let’s go further: if I would craft secret mage today, and all cards get their dust cost reduced by half next month, then anyone entering wild can craft secret mage and another deck like token druid/ pirate warrior for the same amount. It’s not like we all have those wild cards for years, you constantly craft new wild cards for new decks. That would be just unfair. Especially if someone spends real money now to get the dust (because, in reality you never get the cards you want from packs) that would be extremely unfair.
and there is another thing: even if all wild exclusive cards would be completely free (then there would not be a need for a refund) the majority of people will still play the best decks, just not one of those, but all. Yeah, in the beginning they would experiment a lot, but most people like winning more than losing. And in wild, off Meta decks tend to be a lot worse than meta decks. People will start with playing greedy decks, and then start to lose against darkglare on 4 and big priest on turn 5/6 or secret mage on 6-8. Or Reno priest on 9/10. and then they will play good decks, because losing 70% of your games (which is realistic if you really experiment and not just put one card in and call the deck homebrew) is no fun
and third: blizzard doesn’t want people to play wild, because it hurts them economically. People playing wild need fewer cards and thus fewer packs, unless every new expansion is complete powercreep. Which would destroy standard and wild.
Yeah and those of you who want it to be easier to get into wild and tell us to don’t „whine“ for refunds why are you exactly against refunds?
Because Blizzard won't give that much dust for nothing. Thus, it becomes impossible that we'll see such change. Also, it is quite... disgusting that some people want to be compensated while losing absolutely nothing. If, tomorrow, crafting wild legendary will cost 800, players who already have those legendaries will lose nothing as long as dusting cost will be the same. Their digital property will not go anywhere.
If they craft a deck today, and tomorrow it’s half the cost they could have crafted two. And all of you who want to get into wild will then just craft two meta decks, which punish the people experimenting now and spending their dust on it. With the refund, they at least can craft those decks too to stand a chance.
