Just came back after a about a year long break. I was able to get to diamond 5 in about a day, but would love to try and climb to legend and am stuck in the rank 3-4 range. I'm about 3 expansions behind in cards, and my god, everything is so much faster now. The majority of my games seem to be against Renolock, Razakus, Big Priest and a billion secret mages. Are either Zoolock or Pirate Warrior more effective for climbing? Would love to get Legend for the first time, and that juicy extra pack for rewards. I would say I have about 30% winrate vs mage and 40% against priest with pirate warrior, havent tried out zoo yet, but fear I might be missing a few too many cards.
Discolock (Zoo), Darkglare Warlock (Painlock) and Pirate Warrior are all viable aggro options in the Wild Metagame at the moment. You need Wrenchcalibur for Pirate Warrior though, as the bombs help shut off Reno decks and reshuffle decks set up by Lorekeeper Polkelt.

i hadnt considered Wrenchcalibur seriously before, but that is a smart idea. only weapon im running is Arcanite Reaper, worth swapping out or adding it in place of something else?

You should run wrenchcaliber as well as Ancharrr. Pirate warrior hasn’t run arcanite reapers in a while.

current lists also run Nitroboost Poison, Sharkfin Fan, Skybarge, Cutting Class. No arcanite reapers, frothing berserkers, or korkron elites. The lists I looked at don’t run wrenchxaliber so that’s more of a tech, not sure what the change would be, but could probably find a list if you search the site

swapped the Arcanite Reaper for Ancharrr. surprised about the lack of Frothing Berserker, that seems to be my best card against odd paladin, pirate rogue/warrior and token druid. if I can protect it for 2 turns and it gets to face I usually just win.
Not sure about Sharkfin Fan, but the others seem pretty useful. I'll see about putting them in, but I think Frothing Berserker is just too good. it also makes Hellfire a lot weaker in my experience so far. my problem with warlock is once you get to turn 7 they just play multiple waves of taunt if they dont have a turn 5 Voidlord preceded by Defile and Dark Skies.
One day d5 with zero bonus stars? My god how many hours?
i got quite a few bonus stars from bronze 10 where i started, often jumping 2-3 ranks per win. i wont lie, i played like 10 hours or so total, but once i switched from miracle rogue and midrange warrior to pirate warrior most games only lasted 3-5 minutes anyways so climbing was quick even when i would get blown out sometimes. if priest and warlock cleared my board multiple times by turn 4 i would just concede and move on to the next. secret mage was usually decided by turn 6. surprisingly the games against odd paladin, odd rogue and token druid were usually the longest because those are entirely about board control and could go 10 turns. i ran into a lot of people who went face only, lost the board around turn 5 and could never come back though.
I don't play the deck so I can't tell you for sure, but I think that the skybarges help control the board enough that you don't need a giant burst from berserkers.

i can definitely see that helping against secret mage, odd paladin and token druid. not sure if it helps against big priest, reno priest and warlock, but frothing doesnt usually do anything in those matchups anyways because they have so much removal.
a big thanks for the advice, I think some of them will really come in handy.
