The problem with wild is that they are always the same decks that are played, it has a permanent meta that changes very little with each expansion. Another problem is its variant in casual wild, it doesn't really feel casual because they play the same ladder decks but casual. On the positive side, you can create a lot of archetypes and crazy combos, but the problem is that the same decks are always played. Could the new game mode help old cards make them playable?
Honestly wild does change up every now and then, as well as a lot of old decks still being more than usable. Secret paladin made a surprise comeback for a bit, after being out of the loop for years. It you want to play against old decks, good luck. Popular decks are popular, and in wild they stick around. But if you want to play with old, or different decks, you can often get some good mileage, especially if people don't know what it is you're doing.
I also see a lot of meme or fundecks or just old ones with some new cards. They often perform well, cause the opponents don't know the deck and so don't know what to expect. Just play till you are at a rank where you can't fall down anymore and play some of the good old funny stuff. As long as you don't expect winning all the games or have a winrate over 60% and just having fun everything is ok.
And that was just Scholomance, its not a full list just some cards that came to my mind. And I wasnt even talking about meme decks. So yeah, with a new expansion there is always a chance for old cards to enter or return to the meta.
í mean beside of all u can also challange friends (or create a thread and ask for interested ppl) and make specific rules. Since blizz introduced the share deck option this shouldnt be to difficult to realize.

I already saw some play of Raid Leader in some paladecks last time.
If you're looking for old unplayed wild cards that will suddenly warp the meta in a signficant way and outshine the current top-tier wild cards, then probably not, it happens once in a while though.
If you're looking for old unplayed wild cards that become more viable or interesting cards due to new synergy being introduced then yes, it happens all the time, every expansion in fact. It's the very reason why wild exists in the first place, with so many cards there is an ever growing critical mass of synergy and you can't balance it properly.
In Wild there is the meta, and there are all the other thousand decks that are worse than the meta but still viable, because card quality and synergy is so high that you can win any game assuming it's not an unwinnable matchup (meme combo deck vs face aggro)
In standard you have the meta and that's it.
There's no way around the meta, but Wild gives you a chance not to joint it, even if you can't beat it.

Flesh Giant made Cheaty Anklebiter playable.
Secret Passage made Sinister Strike playable in aggro.
Cutting Class and some other cards made Kingsbane pretty good again.
Potion of Illusion made Tortollan Pilgrim and Meteorologist quite playable.
Guardian Animals made Witchwood Grizzly playable again.

The devs said that the new gamemode will include wlid cards. It's totally possible that "trash" cards might find a place there.
when they release tournament mode, we probably gonna get an option for wild tournaments
