Its more like 20-25%. What is still a huge amount. Also i agree that its a very strong and rather cheap deck, which doesnt require the biggest amount of skill to win.
But its also a direct answer to all this unbelievable greedy decks flooding wild most of the complainers play by themselves.
Know the meta and adapt. Also teching a Eater of Secrets or Kezan isnt adapting. Those Cards just hurt your other matchups more than it helps against secret mages.
If there is such a high amount of secret mages, just play a deck that counters them or live with the consequences.
I play a deck that triggers the secrets very quickly...a dinomancer warlock. So I find that they cannot build a Christmas tree of secrets against me. Besides, stealing counterspell is as good as taking two secrets away...and iceblock has obvious benefits. Besides a 4/3 body is better when when it has to be used against non-secret classes. This is just what I have found.
9 out of 10 decks I just played were secret mage. I don't even care about the decks power level. I have beaten it and lost to it. It's just F-ing boring to play the same deck over and over again...
Instead of complaining, add in two Eaters of Secrets. That's what I did with my Even Warlock deck. I went from losing every match against Secret Mage to winning 80%. If your opponent is a Mage, you have to mulligan hard for an Eater.
Secret Mage is crippled by one Eater of Secrets, and a second Eater basically guarantees you the game. As Aggro Paladin is also a popular deck, there is some crossover usage.
Hmm.. funny. I used secret mage as well to get to rank 4. Didn't bother to get any further, the game became repetitive and I saw a lot of counters against secret mage (yes a lot of frustration for Eater of Secrets and kezan). Also I had to play a lot against other secret mages. So much, that even as a secret mage myself, I included kezan for countering the mirror matches.
But I don't think the deck is a problem on its own. It is really strong yes, but so are other aggro decks like mech hunter and odd paladin. And there are easy ways to counter the deck, which is happening a lot right now. So I don't think there is a actual problem.
FYI, I currently only play Reno Lock as I don't have lot of other class card
The whole part of hearthstone is to play different classes and different archtypes. It wouldn't be a healthy game if you always win with the same type of deck.
Roping is a legit strategy in a game where u cant interact on opponent turn ;)
Litterally 80% of wild is Secret Mage, Im tired of playing vs that, even at rank 4 (my current rank), all they fucking do is target face, they completly ignore the board. It is as frustrating as Big Priest :(
I even had to create a Secret/Anti-secret Hunter deck to 100% counter them. Now when I face a secret mage, i usually rope them.
What's your feeling of this deck?
FYI, I currently only play Reno Locku as I don't have lot of other class card
rope them all you want i just quit playing fuck hearthstone/ the most boring meta in the history of the game. you think secret mage is bad.try sitting through the super-geniuses playing battlecry shaman where every game is play 28 one cost bullshit lackey cards. the game has gotten to the point of why even play. A game of hearthstone shouldnt take more than 5-6 minutes. The game mechanics dont even warrant a game taking longer than that...they need to implement fast mode where people who can do 1st grade math can play and get the quest done and log while they take a shit.
Good thing the only deck that Wild players care about is big priest though, right?
Sooo what do you use instead of Aluneth :D?
Ethereal Arcanist, take a look at this decklist. Winrate is almost the same compared to the decks with Aluneth.

Good riddance, I'd rather face 70 secret mages than quest mage and big priest
they should remove counterspell and nerf explosive runes.
and medivhs vallet and cloud prince should target minions only.

play reno hunter with kezan mystique and flare
It's just a shame that Flare gets countered by Counterspell
Just for interest, could you post your personal decklist please? I found this after a fast search:

At least greedy decks don't ignore the board. 100% of the secret mage could be played by bots. In fact it remind me Pirate Warrior era...
I too beat secret mage like 30% of the time (without tech card), but it's just frustrating to play vs people just auto playing their deck.

So you have a deck that wins 100% of the time against 80% of your opponents and you complain why?!
yea too many players playing it but its counterable tho

The worst is today’s new tavern brawl with ice block. Spending an hour in a game.
Why don't you quit and start a new game? One hour would be too much for me for a pack.
here u go man just made this
