30% of all my games were against big mage / giants quest / flamewaker quest or whatever that deck is called. Why is this a problem? well, basically because, unlike standard, wild has a lot of variety in decks; been playing wild the last 2 months and I can assure this. And, in a varied meta, a commonly found deck means an unusual level of effectiveness (win rate).
I'm not complaining about Archmage Vargoth, Ray of Frost or even the never-nerfed Flamewaker - I'm striking the core of the problem: Elemental Evocation and Mana Cyclone. This overpowered combo is what allows the almost infinite cycle of spells; the quickness they finish the quest AND the cost reduction for Arcane Giants.
My suggestion to fix this? simple: nerf Elemental Evocation.
"The next Elemental you play this turn costs (2) less, but not less than 1."
This way you will not completely kill the combo but your opponent will have to calculate a bit to (ab)use the spell cycle... at least in early game.
Yeah play aggro. The decks struggles against a good aggro curve. It's not a problem deck to be honest. It's a difficult deck to pilot well and can win against most decks, but lose to a lot if played badly
Misleading data. The graph is not accounting for non-Quest Mage decks, and probably only considers games played in legend. According to VS data report, the most played deck across all ranks outside of legend is Big Priest. Only at exactly legend is it the most played deck at 12.62%.
My info is from rank 10 to 3. I only remember one tempo secret mage match among all of those, the rest were ALL quest mage decks. Some were exodia (antonidas), double turn vargoth and flamewaker aggro, but quest mage anyways.
The problem is that I don't play aggro :/ that's why I'm struggling against quest mages. I'm not saying I've lost all those games; I'm just saying there are way too many of them and it's getting annoying.
Depending on what you play, Skulking Geist is an option. It hits 1/3rd of the cards in their deck. Dirty Rat can hit Mana Cyclone or let you deal with a Giant or Flamewaker before the time warp turn. In any case, an Elemental Evocation nerf probably wouldn't help slow decks win against Quest Mage. It can beat them with or without it.
I have been beating them with a dumb midrange res priest deck. I actually lost to an old school tempo mage deck for rank 5 last month, but usually beat this new quest mage deck.

Do you have a better suggestion?

this is like a none issue, the meta is changing in just a few days
