As stated in every other thread of this very same topic, it's a deck that wins. It requires a bit of high rolling, but it wins and people want to win games. It has been one of, if not the most powerful deck in WIld for a long time now.
That said, it's actually fallen down the tier list lately from what I last saw, but that doesn't mean it's not a good deck. I don't play Wild often, but have been lately. I was having the same issue and thought I'd play the deck myself to see what it's struggles are, as many people often predict. It took me from rank 13 to 7 or 6 before I lost a freaking game! And that was even with really horrible draw RNG in some of those wins, having to play out big minions without mana cheats.
So yeah, it wins games. After reaching rank 5 I've been playing around with ideas for an Odd Warrior that uses Grim Patron to build a wide board. I'm wondering if I should focus on also using the new Underbelly Ooze or not...
It's a high roll snowball deck and it's nearly impossible to tech against. The only possible counters are either transforming the first big minion dropped by barnes or whatever with things like hex or polymorph or putting tokens on their side of the board and killing those.
Even then you can still rez good creatures by either luck or cards like Eternal Servitude.
The reason many are asking for a nerf against this deck is due to the lack of interactivity when playing against it.
because Eternal Servitude is broken, even without Barnes, even by intentionally withholding Barnes and deciding not to play it a second time while using a really janky minion core, you can pull shit like this and consistently win, this was a deck where i got rid of Rag, tlk, and most high end legendaries in favor for 1x ysharasj 2 x obsidian statues, 2 x blood of the ancient ones and 1x ysharaaj and ended up ranking up with.....you need to do broken shit to have a competitive deck, well ES is up there in the brokeback ally...so yeah, that's why, Eternal Servitude exists in its current state
edit: i know the game from the image was in casual but that was when i was playtesting the deck
I'm pretty sure server-side there isn't even pool of dead minions, it just performs search in game log searching for "minion dies" "owner = player" and does crude roll through it.
They even reuse this mechanic for other cards like Shudderwock, Zul'jin and Tess - they just use different search query.

each game generates a dead.cache file for minions that die, i don't remember the specifics though.
After getting to ranks 3 and below there is significantly less priests at least in my experience, because of so many agro decks, and they are not that big of problem considering the strength of the deck because it is not broken ( it is one of the strongest but still not broken) it’s just that just a few decks interect with it, and that is boring. But what i can say from experience when i am playing something like reno mage my favorite match up is big priest and not because i win against them( i quite often lose, when I don’t draw cards like Polymorph and Kazakus) but because it is so fun to mess up their ress pool.
Match for match I think the new mech hunter is way harder to win than big priest, the sinergy in that deck is insane from turn 1 to 6 (the game don't reach turn 7), the deck is way cheaper than Big Priest and don't see many of them, odd paladin with MFB is pretty strong too.
That is why I can't understand so many games vs this single deck, looks like exists better and cheaper alternatives, or maybe have some controls can easily beat aggro decks and people play Big Priest to counter them but I don't play vs any of them with my Reno quest mage.

The issue I have with Mech Hunter is that it's very all in. If they get a good hand but you can keep them back, they are just stuck with no hand and top decking essentially worthless mechs. While it is able to close out games a lot faster, it's also a lot weaker to board clears while on the other hand, big priest is only weak to transformation effects or things that summon stuff for the opponent. It is also a lot more established deck in wild seeing as how it's been a thing since KFT and KnC, along with sites that report on the meta such as Tempostorm calling it a tier 3 deck. I don't really agree with that but for people who are netdecking, that number is a bit offsetting.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I don't have something witty about this deck, I just like it because Malygos is fun.
Big priest is the most hated deck in wild, so I guess many players came to the conclusion that it has to be the best. In my opinion its not even tier 1.
On the other hand my quest murloc shaman has a 100% winrate against big priest so I cant complain about its popularity, I just farm them.
Play Exodia Mage with a Polymorph instead of a second Arcane Artificer or 2 polymorphs but that makes it pretty heavy. I have a really good win rate against big priest with the deck, they are almost farmable with exodia.
And Exodia Mage is the most hated deck in wild, i get a lot of backlash for playing it and people tend to be ropers when they see it.

Play the Vargoth - Greater Arcane Missiles quest mage deck, it's so much fun! Feels easier to get the combo off than Exodia too. Big Priest is only really a problem if they get Rag off of Barnes/Shadow Essence.
Because it is a relatively inexpensive Priest deck & archetype and the cards that hard counter it are very niche and not oft used in that ladder bracket.
I can’t play a normal control or tempo decks in wild because of the existence of mill rouge/ big priest/ exo mage, so I turned to token Druid with tons of 0 cost 1 att minions now.
But most important of all, i think the overpopulation of Big Priests is because you can literally sh1t in your opponent's face and their strategy: if you lose, it just feels like bad RNG (not your fault), if you win, your opponent is miserable. It's win-win, independently of the outcome (which is good in average anyway).
> The broken synergies in BP make it feel *ABUSIVE* to play (with and against).
And that's EXACTLY why people like it. And that's why it is a toxic deck.
The devs just see it is popular while not t1 (or maybe it is now with Archmage Vargoth?), so they think it must be fun, and call it a day.
They don't even realize how stupidly toxic this kind of brokenness is...
The real question is not "Why is it so popular?" (pretty easy to answer if you ask me), but rather "How do you win against it without using a super-boring aggro deck?"
I tried Control Shaman. I had two Hexes before turn 6. Barnes Rangnaros. I hexed Ragnaros and killed Barnes. 6 Mana summon 5/5 copy of Valgoth, and Vargoth summoned 5/5 Statue. Hexed the Vargoth. Turn 7 resurrection of One Frog and Barnes. Turn 8 he played Catrina. I hagata shemed the board. Then spellstone. Second Hagatha sheme. Then discover minion that died this game and its Catrina. Couldnt keep up. He resurrected about 7 frogs but they all count as one minion for spellstone (resurrects only different minions).
I tried control Warlock with Hungry Dragons, Gravelsnouth Knights and Saronite Taskmasters. Couldnt beat the Priest and i weakened my deck against aggro.
Maybe Treachery + Doomsayer or Felhound will work ?
You can tech against anything else. Dirty Rat against Combo. Ooze against weapon heavy and aggro. Skulking Geist against Jade Druid, Inner Fire Priest etc. Hell my Control Shaman runs Spelleater to steal the DKs hero powers.

Potion of Madness is very good vs Barnes tokens, Entomb and Psychic Scream are just good in the matchup, Shadow Visions can help to get more of them. And the Weasels. They are making Shadow Essence a joke, and later your opponents will be forced to play them if they draw nothing else, so it will make their rez pool miserable.
Its a meme deck, but it has a shot against everything, because the quest reward is quite helpful vs aggro and messing with your opponents deck is generally good vs combo decks. I have beaten real aggro decks and even stuff like exodia mage with it. There are 2 win conditions:

Any answer is welcome.
the only control deck that i managed to win vs big priest consistently was a mecathun warlock with teched in 2x treacheary and 2x doomsayer
trachery-doomsayer combo totaly lock big priest to use spellstone/mass res/ressurect
but there is always a game they barnes into y'shaarj on curve and u dont have your combo and u lose
I reach rank 10 in Wild and 3 games in each 5 is vs Big Priest.
WHY???
Have so many good decks in Wild why so many play this boring BS?
Mech hunter, even shaman, odd paladin, Reno decks, token druid and much, much more, all very good and can win vs big priest.
There something I missing? Big Priest counter something very popular to be so used? I returned to Wild after a long time only playing Standard.

It's exploiting primitive "graveyard" mechanic.

Piloted Shredder, Knife Juggler, Mad Scientist, Dr. Boom
Need to be removed from this game

Sheep. People blindly follow trends. That’s all. And a first-time HS player could pilot it to 10 or even 5.
