so youre saying you want rag to be buffed for paladins. Stupid.
...what?
@OP: That's just dodging the problem, which is quite clearly Barnes. Just because Barnes is a stupid, broken card doesn't mean other cards like Ragnaros the Firelord should suffer...

If Barnes were a 5 mana minion, the considerable tempo loss would give some lower-power decks some sort of chance. Think of how much the Spiteful Summoner nerf hit those decks.

Paladin is the major buff class so that would just make ragnaros better in paladin decks. Conversely pal always has attack nerfs to make rag only do 1 damage. Super silly change to an already strong card that was HoF for very good reason. (only to be reinserted into mage. Awesome dev team)

Ah yes the tier 0 deck known as buff paladin, which has been plaguing wild for decades.
Also to the guy who said a Barnes nerf won't do much, it'll do a whole lot more than what they're doing now. Which is absolutely nothing.
I dont think it would change the card much, it would still be about as viable and played as it is now. But it would disrupt the flavor and all the other "rag" cards that rock the 8/8 8 dmg/heal thing.
I think the best option would have been to make his attack value a battlecry. No more resistance to silence and nowhere near as difficult to deal with from Barnes/Resurrection. Still a super swingy RNG card though and I'm not sure how you can get around that. At least you could leave it silenced and alive.
was hoping for this change for very long time. yesterday i played a game against priest as otk boar hunter. he highrolled rag on 4 (barnes) and i didnt wanted to remove it bcs i knew he would get it back. i had to remove it in the end and he summoned 2. the change is needed.
to nerf ress priest they have to make his pool of ressurects include enemy minions.
Maybe they could invent a new "Hall of Shame". Cards that are autoinclude in wild and limit the design space of new deck archetypes get moved here. You can still see them in the collections but they can only be used in the new play mode called "Wilder"...
Hearthstone is a game about rng, and all the mechanics that create cards from nothing (like Discover, Ressurect, copying smth) drive that rng impact above any skill. Expecting something in hs is a luxury, and barnes is a great card in that sense (however, i think it would be better if he would Recruit a 1/1 minion instead of making a copy).
IMO, resurrect priest can't be balanced well using current game mechanics, the game doesn't have any graveyard-like zone (so the other player has no way to interact with your dead minions, except from adding garbage to your side, like Mad Summoner)
E.g. the most stupid thing about res priest is that you can summon a COPY of Ragnaros the Firelord from Barnes on t4, then resurrect two of them on t5, two more on t6 (Resurrect, Eternal Servitude, also you can make free copies of res with Shadow Visions), and you still have that original rag in deck, and have never played it (and it have never died, obviously).
The thing i hate the most about hearthstone is the possibility to create Sunkeeper Tarim from Stonehill Defender without even having tarim in your deck (or in your collection at all). That just ruins all the thought process behind deckbuilding, the more value you can generate out of thin air - the better (time to remember bs value generators like Babbling Book, Spiteful Summoner, Free From Amber, Omega Assembly, Unstable Portal and so on and so forth)
sry for the wall of text here. it's a tribute to the wall priest.
In my opinion statue is problem, deathrattle destroy minion lifesteal and taunt after reseruction is really hard to beat big priests. Rag is the smallest problem or no problem because yoy can flood the board and its just rng
If Barnes is the problem change him so that he creates a fixed 1/1 Barnes Token that copies the abilities of the minion chosen from the deck. You can rez that, but it'll always be a 1/1 Barnes Token.
I always wondered this question myself, fairly simple question I hope.
EG: Rag from Barnes only does 1 damage
A 12/12 Rag that is buffed deal 12 random damage to a target.
Or would this destroy the card's usefulness and identity?
Don't, touch, Rag.
A thousand times it has been said that the Big Priest problem is the resurrections.
so youre saying you want rag to be buffed for paladins. Stupid.

Calm your tits guys, all he said “Would rag be more balanced?” Not that they should change him. You guys really need to read before being rude.

Edit: I should add - make his base stats 0/8

Not more balanced, because you would unlock situations where he could do more, as you pointed out yourself.
In average, its power would be the same.
If it was a means to fix Big Priest, then the cards that need nerf are others.

If they Nerf Barnes they'll have to refund 20$ because he's the main reason people bought the adventure

You can rez that, but it'll always be a 1/1 Barnes Token.
That's the most reasonable suggestion I've heard and stated without any exaggerated negativity.
