I am both a standard and a wild player. When standard mode irritates me to a certain point I often just switch to Wild and play my own build decks (Wild mode is like a casual mode for me). So yeah I understand that I can always craft these cards back but in mine case what would you do? I am eager to combine new cards from the rise of the shadows in wild as well and I am pretty pretty pretty x10 sure that both Baku and Genn will remain a big factor in the wild.
I already opened normal genn and baku when ww released. I do play wild occasionally, so I spent 3200 dust crafting each of them golden (6400 total). when HoF hits, ill get back the crafting costs of the golden ones (6400), then ill DE the golden ones for 3200 total. meaning ill still have playable versions of the cards but ive effectively gained 3200 dust from the rotation of those cards. ive also done the same with the other HoF cards

You would've received 1600 each for Baku and Genn for a total of 3200 dust had you simply done nothing. Obviously you're not out anything at this point and you do get the value of playing with them as gold versions until you dust. You also give yourself the option of keeping the golds and dusting the regulars, thereby gaining golden versions at a reduced opportunity cost.
Just wanted to point this out to others who may already have a normal version that crafting a gold to eventually dust the gold, results in the gold gains being net neutral and not necessary.

Don't dust it. You'll get full refund for your versions and only 25% afterwards. Odd and even will always be highly competitive in wild.
I crafted my Genn and Baku in gold for wild.
