Hi guys, with the upcoming Hall of Fame, my boyfriend accumulated enough dust to craft one of these legendaries. My question is, which one is better in the wild format as he’d like to keep that card and play some relatively cheap, but also relatively strong decks? His collection is rather small and he’s a very casual player.
I know that Odd paladin and Even shaman are both cheap and strong decks, but evaluating the power level and possible future use, which one would you craft, if you could craft only one?
If I had to make a choice, I'd go with Even Shaman, because it beats the crap out of Odd Paladin in Wild. Jokes aside, both decks are very strong and it's tough to predict which one will be better in a year from now (if any of them survives) but I personally think that Even Shaman has the stronger core, has more access to tech cards and is thus better in dealing with different meta-games.
These rotations are a great way to get some access to Wild mode, when you don't have many resources. And then, you have what you have. Maybe Odd Druid isn't playable for the next 4 years, but you can always go back and try it out. That's what Wild is there for, and the more cards you have, the more it has in store for you.
I solely play wild and I see more classes using Baku, whereas not as many (that I see) using Genn. However I do think that the even decks are stronger currently, but who knows when the new cards hit.
I think he'd prob have fun with either tbh, but I'd probably craft Baku if it was me, just because of it's versatility.
Another way to see it is that if you aren't totally strapped for dust after the rotation, you craft either now, and when you get your refund, you craft the other one with that dust!
But similar to other's suggestions, I'd craft Baku first.
Don't forget he'd need to craft at least some busted wild-only cards to play the decks mentioned above. So if he will only have dust for Baku or Genn, I'd look at the decks he's most interested in and see what he can afford. For example, I can't see an even Warlock without the DK or an odd rogue without Vilespine.
But my gut tells me Baku will be better over the long haul in wild.

Standard Legend - July '16 (Rank 56), June '17, Dec. '18, Apr. '19
Wild Legend - Mar. '18 (Rank 30), Apr. '18, Aug. '19
Twelve Arena Wins - Shaman, Warlock, Mage x2, Rogue, Priest (12-0), Druid, Hallow's End x2, Hunter, Taverns of Time x3 (Pa,D,WL), Paladin
I went 80% win-rate from rank 25-5 with Even Oil Rogue. Since Tempo/Aggro are staples of a lot of wild even decks I would suggest Genn if he is stuck only making one. Now that being said no one knows for sure what the meta is going to be yet, so if he has dust for both thats two free legendaries for wild moving forward at least.
The most powerful decks on wild ladder atm are even.
I think it's safe to say the odd's odds of being even with even decks aren't even worth mentioning, as Even's core is more powerful. (Srsly though, atm I'd take Genn over Baku for sure).
Even shaman is great but Baku odd pally is slightly better at this moment. Considering that in a new expantion will be cool secrets for 1 mana I would say it will be even stronger. If choice is narrowed to only one I would go with Baku
however in that deck there are quite a few epic cards

I would strongly recommend craftinf both, dusting every golden card and bad epic to get there as you will get the dust back when the rotation hits.
Odd: Paladin, Mage, Rogue, possibly Warrior.
Even: Shaman, Warlock.
It is a close call, and they are both strong, but Genn is performing slightly better atm. if there is no other way.

He cant go wrong either the way

That being said, I'd do whatever is possible to craft both Genn and Baku and possibly 2x Glitter Moth, 2x Gloom Stag, 2x Black Cat and 2x Murkspark Eel.

I would also add Odd rogue to your list.

Firstly, carefully consider if you want to wade into Wild. It is a very different setting and playstyle from Standard.
That step done, Genn is good for Shaman and Warlock. Baku is good for Mage and Paladin.

Both are really powerful. Try to craft both, you will get the dust back next week.
