Lightbomb is IMO a really strong card. Priest usually runs low attack high hp minions whereas other decks run minions with statlines that are more round and equal. But yeah Lord Godfrey definitely takes the n1 spot.
I like the fact that OP asked for removals and people gave AoE cards :P
As for me:
Vilespine Slayer - pretty much hardest removal currently in the game, as it bypasess "cannot be targeted".
Hex and Polymorph - arguably the best card card removal in the game, as those don't trigger deathrattle effects and don't count the minion as destroyed for other cards that would use it. Second spot only because it's a soft removal and leaves some value on board.
Shadow Words that Priest used - all of them target different minions, but still strong and extremally cheap for their effect.
Execute - one of the greatest removals, but needs a setup.
Siphon Soul - pretty cheap for it's effect (Assasinate is 5 mana) and a strong, single target removal.
I didn't include board wipes - they are still removals, but different in their usage. Also AoE's (although they might result in removal) are still bursts and not removals.

Single Target: Entomb is just brokeback.and it beats the Sap by miles if you have the mana to spare, contender for best Single-Target removal in the game.
Top 5 removals in this game? Wild included ofc.
It depends on the meta, but in general my opinion is:
1.Lord Godfrey
2. Vilespine Slayer
3.Duskbreaker
4. Hex, Polymorph
5. Defile
Barnabsx
i still think Entomb is really strong, hex and polymorph aswell obviously.
Entomb, sap and vanish, hex and polymorph
Defile
Shield Slam
Death's Bite
Vilespine Slayer
Imp-losion
Tier 0: Lord Godfrey, Defile, Brawl
Tier1: Vilespine Slayer, Meteor, Psychic Scream(combo)
Tier2: Polymorph, Hex, Blizzard
Tier3: Duskbreaker, Psychic Scream(control), Twisting Nether, Shadowflame, Volcano
Bloodreaver Gul'dan because it removes any fun that the opponent was having.

That's Incredible!
1) Devolve
2) Defile
3) Lord Godfrey
4) Entomb
5) Duskbreaker
Honorable mentions: Hex/Polymorph, Shield Slam, Dragonfire Potion, Vilespine Slayer and Jasper Spellstone.
I'm taking into account only AoE.
vs aggro: Defile, Hellfire, Excavated Evil, Volcano, Duskbreaker, Blood Razor
vs everything Psychic Scream, Kazakus, Brawl, Devolve
Well maybe not considered "removals" by your definition, but I think cards that remove something from your opponent, and adds it too you, are immensely powerful. This includes cards like Mind Control, Cabal Shadow Priest, Entomb, Mind Control Tech, Kezan Mystic, etc. Powerful AoEs that get more then a 1 for 1 are also good value, like Flamestrike, Twisting Nether etc. Put this on a minion (Duskbreaker, Ravaging Ghoul, ...) makes it arguably better. Transform effects are also very strong, ruining gameplans etc, cards like Hex, Polymorph, Tinkmaster Overspark and Demonic Project for example.

I've no clue what I'm doing...
I meant AOE too. :-)
Sap, Vanish, and Psychic Scream, Godfrey, and Twisting Nether, hands down
Oh :( Lord Godfrey then :P
I've no clue what I'm doing...
Honestly anyone who doesn't mention Sap is basically wrong.

Abyssal Enforcer. Hey, arena players.
Naturalize 1 mana destroy a minion, mill your opponent for 2 cards :-)
You all forgot about Wand of Disintegration.
For AoE removals : Malchezaar's Imp + Cataclysm, with Volcano as the most brokeback AoE you can have.
Single Target: Entomb is just brokeback.and it beats the Sap by miles if you have the mana to spare, contender for best Single-Target removal in the game.
