Barnes is, quite frankly, ruining the game for me. I have been playing less and less as the months go on, because of big priest. It's not fun to run into a turn 3, 4, or 5 Barnes which just wins them the game. It wasn't this big of a problem in standard because you only had access to eternal servitude, but in wild you have access to a host of other effects to ressurect. Another problem with Barnes is that there is zero counterplay. If you kill the 1/1 they get the full version next turn. If you silence the 1/1 they get the full version if you devolve the 1/1 they get a random 7+ drop. I would suggest changing Barnes to where he summons a "mini" version of the minion, which is just a 1/1 version of the minion. An actual 1/1 If it's silenced it's a 1/1, killed and ressumoned as a 1/1 etc. This keeps the card as how I belive Blizz intended, with powerful synergy with deathrattles and end of turn effects, but without allowing the broken synergy with big priest. This leaves big priest intact, but it no longer would have the chance to outright win so early in the game. Big priest is a deck which punishes slower decks with large waves of large minions, but with Barnes is can also punish faster decks with no chance for counterplay.

Well they keep printing more and more cards to support big priest and nobody from Blizzard even bats an eye on Barnes, so I am quite sure this sentence is wrong.
Play exodia mage, it's almost a 100% win rate for you. Only way they win is if they rip out Rag early or TLK death grips a combo piece. Other than that, i rarely lose to them.
As a Barnesless Big Priest player (currently rank 1, hoping for legend) I can tell you are knowledgeable about what a Barnes nerf would mean for the deck. I have noticed my winrate against aggressive decks is FAR lower than what a normal big priest's would be. I've tried teching cards like 1 or 2 Power Word: Glorys and second Greater Healing Potion, but nothing improves the aggro matchup better than Barnes.
So yes, I fully agree with you and your reasoning. Big Priest needs a weakness, and that should be aggro. The Barnesless version is a consistent control deck that is weak in the early game, whereas the Barnes version is a highroll deck that wants to end the game on turn 4, which is silly.

I get it that its frustrating to play against Barnes, but there is a lot of counterplay in wild.
The fact that a card has some sort of counterplay doesn't necessarily make it balanced.... I know they're different games (I'm using Yu-Gi-Oh as an example here but the concept is the same) but Solemn Warning/Judgment/Strike/Veiler etc existing doesn't make pre erratum Chaos Emperor Dragon any less broken.... No card should read "If you draw this and your opponent doesn't have an answer win the game" but that's exactly what an early Barnes does.... It doesn't even matter if you're playing a slow or fast Deck if they hit that card on curve and you don't have one of the like 6 cards in the entire game that can somehow counter it you lose.... That's plain stupid imo.... I wholeheartedly agree with the OP Big Priest,Mill Rogue (and Aviana/Kun and Warlock DK to some extent) are huge problems in Wild and I really hope they get addressed as soon as possible....
I’ve been playing a version of big priest with Barnes, two the ancient ones, and one mirage caller as the only minions. I feel less of a dick that way as there are more counters against it, but still fun to play. That being said, I’d agree with just 1/1 versions once they are revived. Could still have some great decks but not OP like now.
I have played wild and standard with Barnes. The truth is I really don’t care it was broken in standard and now it’s broken in wild which no one plays apparently
Im ok with nerfing Barnes as long as you also nerf Voidcaller, Kingsbane, Loatheb, Ultimate Infestation and ramp in general, Warlock/Mage/Hunter/Priest Hero card, Vicious Fledgling, Gnomeferatu, Shielded Minbot,Righteous Protector,Gang Up,Mountain Giant, Poisnous Seeds, Doomsayer,Aluneth,Thing from Below,Dead Mans Hand and all other cards which have strong powerlevel in certain decks and classes. The only thing that I see positive about your post is the fact, that you admit it is rant. Stop suggesting the nerfs, and learn how to counterplay. I'm frustrated af to play against Kingsbane and Aluneth Mages in topdeck mode, yet you've seen 0 threads from me where I demand nerfing them. Stop suggesting nerfs for Priest class in general. It is barely hanging right now on Wild competitive level with only 3 decks being viable. He suffered enough. Shadowboxxer is already nerfed, while Druid and Rogue cards that are printed will have insane impact on the meta. After seeing more cards I think even Glinda+Mechwarper+Zillax combo is a late and not broken combo at all.

The problem is in what you just listed. Less than half the classes in the game have a reliable counter to it.
I play Renolock and I've even tried Tinkmaster myself just for this match up, but it is too difficult to get it just right to reliably work as you got to clear your board AND Barnes. Let alone weakening your deck against everyone else.
It doesn't matter though, Druid will rule wild now with the new cards coming out.

But you need those cards for removal, stopping the 1/1 isn't good enough considering that BP has three move waves pf giant minions. The only true counter is potion of madness, which is in priest, making the point moot.
I agree, I think Barnes is a horrible card. Every priest I play has it turn 3 or 4. If you're playing RenoLock, try running Muck Hunter . I put one in my RenoLock with great success.

What rank did you manage with ancient one?
I went legend today with barnesless big priest.. way more consistent this way

Add Loatheb in turn 5

Well ur first mistake was playing wild
If you're saying that without having ever tried it, I recommend you try it. You might be surprised.
Blizzard would avoid a complicated nerf that could lead to inconsistent interactions. They'd simply make it 5 mana, or 6 if they wanted to kill it.
I think a 6 mana 4/6 would make the card consistent with other "cheat out" cards such as gather your party and shadow essence.
Barnes is easy to nerf while preserving its use as a combo card. It's as simple as raising its mana cost [and optionally increasing its stats].
