I got a card back from Sonya's effect(a paladin creature) and tried to reduce the mana cost with Ethereal Peddler. Turns out the card didn't reduce at all in cost. does anyone know if this is intended or if it's bugged?
Although Ethereal Peddler's card text says "non-Rogue class cards", what it actually does is discount cards from a different class than your hero. So if you stole and used Uther of the Ebon Blade earlier, that makes your hero a Paladin and therefore Paladin cards are no longer discounted, but Rogue cards are. Other than that very specific situation, I can't think of a reason why you wouldn't get a discount.

Actually I was still Valeera.
I tried it again against the innkeeper and it seems like Sonya cards will stay at 1 mana even if you play Ethereal Peddler. I don't know if it's intended, however Emperor Thaurissan has a similar text and it does reduce the cost. My best guess is that Sonya puts a "Rogue" tag on the creature she returns to your hand and therefore Ethereal Peddler doesn't reduce the cost.

I am not certain on how it works, but it doesn't put "Rogue" tag on a minion. I tested it out with Tess Greymane, applying the logic "if the copied minion is not replayed twice, then it must've been given the Rogue tag".
Video: (I know that it's not clearly presented, but you have to believe me on this: I got Radiant Elemental out of Blink Fox (which I got out of Thistle Tea, hence additional copies in hand) then played it, copied it and played it again, killed both of them and finally played Tess Greymane)
That's why I am willing to counclude it's the "trigger" that is causing the problem. Remember Naga Sea Witch? Before trigger patch it changed the cost of every card to 5, meaning all giants cost 5. Simple, right? However, the patch changed this interaction, meaning the cost reduction from giants apply after the cost change from Naga Sea Witch. That's why when Naga Sea Witch is on the board, giants can cost less than 5.
I believe the same happens in our situation. Shadowcaster and Sonya Shadowdancer apply their cost reduction "last", meaning other cost reductions don't work (apart from, like you said yourself, Emperor Thaurissan, which applies its effect before, if it makes any sense), like with pre-patch Naga Sea Witch. Keep in mind - this is only a speculation and I could be wrong.
While it could be unrelated I am willing to wager that the April 16th hotfix, and subsequent bugs, could be at play here.
The fix to address the dumb WW worgen cards bugging out caused many of these fun-killing side effects, and even killed an earlier version of the deck in my sig.
I actually have a bug report on the official forums right now to see if it can get any attention as to whether or not these altered interaction are actually correct or not, but so far it doesn't look super promising. Yay for open communication with players!

I tested it out with Shadowcaster and the result was exactly the same as with Sonya Shadowdancer.

That's interesting. Imo they need to change it so all these cards work the same way.
