Big Priest is not even meta-oppressing (although ridiculously high tier) but it is simply polarising and frustrating to play against, since it essentially plays on highroll.
Barnes should be increased to at least (5), or even (6), which would buy enough turns to the opponent to react properly against cheating revive mechanics.
But more in general, i find easy 1/1 copies a problematic feature of the game, as they make redundant effects that are only balanced when coming in limited occurrencies...
It's not even that the deck is that powerful. I have a good win rate against it with a few decks. It's just that it's such a stupid and mindless concept that should never have existed in the first place. Pure gambling bullshit. A meme deck (lets be honest, that's exactly what it is) should never have anything approaching a 50% winrate. Checking my stats here I faced big priest in 30% of games from 5-legend. That's just disgusting.
Just cause you think a deck is stupid doesn't mean it shouldn't exist. I think mill decks are for degenerates but oh well, they're not going anywhere. Also, a lot of "meme decks" have a good winrate, not sure if you're aware of that. That Togwaggle Druid deck is in my opinion stupid, has a dumb win condition and is completely unfun to play against, and it does way better than Big Priest against most decks, but I honestly couldn't care, it's just another deck.
Please dont, that deck carry me to rank 5 in the past 6 months, so I crafted a golden big priest deck. I only need 3 hours to reach rank 5 with big priest. I only use it in rank match and never play it in casual match because it's boring
That sounds like : "this deck is OP, please don't change it cause I would be sad not to climb ridiculously fast the ladder anymore !" :D
As a player who got into Legend for the first time with it about 10 days ago, most of you have no idea what you're talking, which is probably because most of you haven't played it. 70% of the time you wont even draw Barnes, so you rely on removal and hoping to highroll Y'Shaarj with Shadow Essence. Aggro destroys you at least half of the time because of crap drawing, especially Tempo Mage, Kingsbane destroys you, combo decks destroy you, Highlander Mage/Warlock/Priest can mess you up with Polymorph/Kazakus really easily, Genn Shaman was every second matchup for me between rank 1 and 3 and I had about 60% winrate against them (not bad, but far from overpowered) generally my winrate was around 55% and it took me a long time to hit Legend. You guys either play really bad, or play midrange/control decks that absolutely suck against Big Priest. Of course sometime Barnes is going to pull out Y'Shaarj and you instantly lose, opponents did that to me in mirror matches but I wasn't salty because I got unlucky a few times. Unlike Naga giant decks, most of the time with Big Priest you won't be able to do anything game crushing at least until turn 5-6, which in my opinion gives the opponent enough time to think about his plays.
In fact, you have pointed out the problem. People, do not want to lose because of the RNG. I don't want concede because you have Barnes on turn 4. When I am playing Hearthstone I want fair games and I don't want to see a card that forced me to concede. So, let's nerf it.
You wish to play a CCG, but without RNG?
Alright then.
he can collect spanish cards you know the traditional cards with clovers and hearts and thos pikey blakc things tha tlook delicious....wait what i'm talking about? ahh yeah he can collect...no wait that also has rng, maybe he'd better off playing TMGs (trading miniature games) both hell and heaven know that if i had the money and motivated friends i'd play a lot of Krosmaster
The deck itself is fine, but Barnes should really be changed. Playing against Big Priest with most decks has an almost interesting inevitability to it, trying to apply enough pressure to keep them on their toes, baiting out the removal, and all that jazz, but Barnes on turn 4/turn 3 w coin is so early that is completely warps the entire game around that single card being played, now you have to answer the Barnes and tiny The Lich King or even worse Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound, and then they resurrect it 17 times and you pray they run out of gas even though you know that it's Big Priest and the game was already decided several turns ago by a single card.
I'm completely fine with priest doing broken shit in the later turns, but turn 4 is way too early for the show to start.
Ok, not playing so much than in june but 1 of every two decks is Big Priest (the other one being Kingsbane mill rogue...).
Big priest doesn't even need Barnes. I burned it with Gnomeferatu. The Priest player didn't play a single card before turn 8 (may be one shadow vision and a non-killing spirit lash, well, he just healed), when he hardcasted Lich king. From then he just shadow essence / ressurect / diamond. It's stupid to a point... Ok, you gonna "play aggro". Sure. Fine. Anyway, my pocket meta is so twisted with this deck it seems really really boring.
Here's an opinion from someone who contributed to these threads before. While I have changed my opinion on the deck a bit (I think it's horribly boring and I have disenchanted it a few days ago), I still think you guys are complaining about nothing. I have played 6 games against Big Priest with Reno Mage and I have won 4, 2 of my opponents had Barnes on turn 4, and I have played about 4 games with Even Shaman and beat them all. I still have absolutely no problem playing against the deck and I still think nerfing Barnes is useless because if you can't answer the Barnes you most likely won't answer the Shadow Essence either, but I can't imagine how easy it is to beat the deck with Reno Warlock when looking back at those matches now. I still do hate people that play that shit in casual though, fuck them all.

Well, I'd like to see your list of renomage, and have an explanation for "how easy it is to beat Big priest with renolock". Cause Treachery is just a dead card in every other mu or when you don't have your Doomsayer. And about Brann + Kazakus = double polymorph potions, well it happens more than often you don't draw both cards before it's too late, and sometimes (often), RNG doesn't want you to brew a polymorph component...
So please enlighten me, I really want to understand and improve my gameplay ! :D
Big Priest can be fun to play against if your deck can somehow outlast or out-maneuver them in Wild Mode. I don't think it's a huge problem other than its popularity right now.
In the past, I've been a fan of playing Meme decks like Dinosaur Priest or Ancient One Priest that requires the Big Priest "shell" to stay intact. Barnes can be useful in other decks and has a unique effect that shouldn't be changed.
You can opt to fight fire with fire and just destroy them with Kingsbane. There is pretty much nothing the Priest can do. The most satisfying win in HS for me.
For me the problem with BIg Priest is how polarizing the matchups are. It's ass against aggro and really really strong against control. The real offendor in Big Priest is Barnes. If you don't have him early the game actually becomes pretty fair in the midgame but having him on 4 pretty much guarentees a victory. I think Barnes is the 1 card that needs to be nerfed. Make the 1/1 he summons a copy of a minion that counts as a 1/1 when it dies. This way you don't get to ressurect a crazy minion but you still get benefited from having strong minions in your deck.

If I remember correctly you were already enlightened in similar threads by users like me or Lyra, yet you didn't answer them). So why you are asking another person to enlighten your game knowledge when your request had already been done a couple of times?
Barnes is russian roulette. The possibility of Playing barnes around turns 3-5 is really low, where he is relevant (Also it isn't that busted if he doesn't pull y'shaarj). Stop complaining about him and oakheart. If something is really strong 30%.... It isn't that strong as you think.
About the topic. I have nothing to say about it, all what I wanted to say is on 2nd page of this thread and in a few other threads dedicated to this deck. Big Priest is a target for salt because it might be powerfull and polarizing. We already discussed this issue in a ton of threads. I still don't understand how I can be in a minority which just doesn't suggest nerfing the deck that it hate to play against. If i would act like a majority there, I would spam all the Hearthpwn and Reddit with the Aluneth and Kingsbane hate/salt posts, yet I'm not doing it because I know how Eternal formats are working and I know that Blizzard will print tech cards against anything at some point.
Nearly 20% playing warlock right now. I would say something there needs a nerf. Big priest is only in wild now and its hardly the worst thing you can face
If I remember correctly you were already enlightened in similar threads by users like me or Lyra, yet you didn't answer them). So why you are asking another person to enlighten your game knowledge when your request had already been done a couple of times?
Take a wild guess (pun intended) ? Because I don't think any of the tech mentionned before actually works on a solid basis. Treachery / Doomsayer is a two combo card (why not) with a dead card in any other mu (unless you consider it as a bizarre combo AOE you don't need that much when facing aggro decks). Kazakus is more than often too late for the famous Barnes / Resurrect chain or RNG-relevant. I had my lot of double 5 or 10 potions without sheep choice amongst the 12 choices - you'd say s**t happens, well yes, but I think that prooves my point : waiting for turn 6 with coin to produce something you might use if lucky on turn 7 is crying for high roll, don't you think ? By T7, most of the time, the festival has already begun on the priest side.
And even then, when I Treachery'd a Doomsayer, it was one of a three-choice to resurrect (I'll pick... Doomsayer. No, seriously, come back, LK). And a lone sheep came back to diamond spell stone, along with Rag and LK. Jeez, I even had a game where Gnomeferatu burned Barnes, my opponent didn't play anything but a Shadow vision and a spirit lash, HP'ed now and then, and won anyway. Not enough pressure, I know, well, Renolock is a control deck, right ?
So once again : even after applying the tricks you and Lyra said, I guess I'm still missing something and asking for what it is. Is that too much to ask ?

^ Just plan ahead. That is all you are asked for. Reno decks are so vertisalle they can beat anything if piloted right (even Kinsbane Rogue with extreme luck). I thought you know this if you have reached a legend with Renolock.
I haven't yet reach legend. So let's see your answer :
Warlock: Brann+Kazakus+Zola, Brann+Gnomeferatu+Zola, N'Zoth, Guldan, Sylvannas+Shadowflame, Twisting Neither, you can put Baleful Banker somewhere there too. Guldan's Hero Power is pretty good, Removal is not so bad.
As I said earlier : I play all these but Banker, and when you don't draw said cards, even with aggressive mulligan, you're toast. So your answer basically reads as : "get some talent and luck, N00B". Thanks.
I second the Barnes hatetrain.

togwaggle or mill rogue wrecks the deck. You can do it!
Renounce Darkness
