Damn, i hate to play against this deck. It is so degenerate... I know, u can play some OTK combo decks or try to kill them fast with aggro. But what about other decks? Autoconcede after turn 3-4 Barnes? That is really stupid.
It can be countered, but it s stupid shit with barnes. I think. Blizz must nerf mana cheating like this. And Mal Ganis for wild lock too, other - fine.
I hate, hate, HATE this deck. Terrifically unfun to play against, and immensely dumb. Just keep resurrecting big minions until you win.
Nerfing Barnes would be the best course of action. The effect is simply too strong as Barnes -> Ishaarj -> Ishaarj happens more than it should and wins games on its own no matter what deck you use.
If you like Control decks, pick Warrior and his 2-Mana taunt to ruin their resurrect targets. It helps against Taunt druid and Big Priest.
Well, not quite ruin, just make a little worth. And Control Warrior is a very hard deck to pilot (if WR more than 50%). It is more like a chalenge deck than a real competitive one.
I even saw a guy that play Paladin which generate a lot of units for opponent (kobold guy, dragon guy, wolfy guy) and he still suffer from it and win only if he get lucky.
to me the only real problem with that deck is Barnes ; it greatly accelerates what should probably be a slow deck and it creates situations that no class can deal with even when they do draw their transform cards. ever since Barnes was spoiled in the Karazhan reveals we all knew that eventually this card is gonna end up somewhere doing something insanely stupid - it turns out to be the backbone of Big Priest's undeserved winrate. Big Priest is a pretty dumb deck without much thought and strategy to it, it underperforms greatly without the star of the show and it would probably be down several tiers if Barnes cost more than 4 mana. (which it should)
having a deck that is like "did I mulligan into my +30% winrate card or not" reminds me a lot of Call to Arms, Patches the Pirate and Naga Sea Witch, all cards that had less winrate boost but same problem and were looked at. it works out, I (usually) win. then it gets to an extreme if Barnes rolls a Y'shaarj, you've almost certainly lost even with a Hex or Polymorph in your hand, there's just too much to deal with on turn 3-4. if Y'shaarj rolls a Y'shaarj, you might as well just scoop, it's just unthinkable. a smart Priest player will also know to even kill his own guys off sometimes to avoid these hexes and polymorphs. fun gameplay, isn't it?
to me it's just stupid and bad game design. the deck would be a lot more manageable if Barnes was finally looked at. it's a dumb luck card that has basically no drawback (it's still a 4/5 for 4 even if it flops) and in some decks it just wins the game with a good roll. I'm okay with a card like Barnes existing (look at my Malygos Shaman for proof) but I wouldn't mind Barnes costing 5 mana for example and forcing people to be more intelligent and creative with their deckbuilding.
it's not so simple as alienating classes and decks by saying "play this obsolete/underperforming counter or that". it's also tier 1 for a reason, it's NOT AS EASY TO DEAL WITH just like that. they can highroll any matchup! mind you that worse performing decks and cards were nerfed for being unfun to play against, which is another argument.
Puts Doomsayer in their spellstone pool to potentially automatically clear their board unless they can SWP or Silence the Doomsayer on the same turn. Clears a full spellstone board by giving them Doomsayer for only 5 mana. Slightly filters out their choices for their rez discover pool.
Reno Mage also does VERY well against them if you tech for the match-up and go greedy with your Kazakus potions.
I run Polymorph and Polymorph Boar. I also always make sure I get at least two Kazakus potions with Brann + Kazakus. Although, if I'm not desperate and being pressured enough I make sure I squeeze out more value with Brann + Kazakus + Zola. I've had more than one Reno Mage vs Big Priest game that went to fatigue and where I used 5-6 10 mana potions (with 3-4 of them being mass sheep).
Kingsbane mill decks are fun against these. If you Sap the card back into the deck and kill Barnes it sorta messes with them. Usually if Kingsbane gets big enough with lifesteal then you can just kill everything outright and control runaway boards with Vanish

Mal ganis really? For the potential turn 4 mal? off Voidcaller. I agree with the deck can be countered and feels DAMN good to beat big priest but i loathe when barnes off on turn 4 and get an old god or rag.
Yes, the deck is ridiculous. I'm playing even shaman and am struggling to rank up because it's big priest after big priest. I know even shaman could be considered broken in its own way, but at least it doesn't resurrect 20 worth of mana by turn 6. Even shaman is doing well as it was untouched, but big priest was untouched too, and if it keeps going untouched and if blizz keeps being dumb enough to give priest ways to resurrect minions, it will become an oppressive deck.
Most of the biggest issues in Hearthstone for the past while have been cheating big things out.
UI, Barnes and Possessed Lackey all crested huge problems not by what they could do but that they could get late game cards out before the counters could come online. Ysharrj isn’t an issue (and is generally not that good) because even if you could pull something absurd, by turn ten they can probably deal with it.
Even Barnes is fine without Yasharrj and resurrection. Many other 1/1 minions are quite powerful, but a 10/10 on turn three, before most hard removal is available (plus a 1/1 that can generate huge tempo and value if not destroyed), and even if it is removed you can get another 10/10 on turn four, and five, and six, and still have more 10/10s incoming.
Now maybe it isn’t an OP deck, but it is a disgusting deck and I think it should be changed.
Please dont, that deck carry me to rank 5 in the past 6 months, so I crafted a golden big priest deck. I only need 3 hours to reach rank 5 with big priest. I only use it in rank match and never play it in casual match because it's boring
Barnes is clearly a problem, but the real one here I think is the obsidian statue : the combination of lifesteal + taunt + kill a minion makes it impossible to win against if it get summoned before t9 with most classes (ie if you can't polymorph it) :
even if you silenced it, a 4/8 that can attack (and thus be suicided then resurrected) is not something you can survive...
I've won a few game against big priest with a t4 Barnes ragnaros (it's hard but possible if you spam them board), but now, if you Barnes pulls statue, I will just concede. So much fun blizzard thank you...

Barnes was always a troublemaker. Should definitely be nerfed.

Turn 3 summon Ragnaros deal 8 damage to face. Rinse and repeat while getting Lich king etc as well

Do or do not. There is no try.
He is fine. Cubelock after nerfs became less popular and i am happy about it.

even otk decks can't beat big priest if they manage to resurrect tons of ragnaros
