I've noticed since the recent rotation that wild is starting to diversify a lot more from standard than previously. Sure, Naxx and GVG had some cards that saw a lot of play (belcher, healbot) in wild, but to me, the format didn't seem too different from standard pre-rotation.
Of course, I always have been a wild player (standard is too temporary for a large resource investment for me, and I enjoy higher power decks), but I laddered in standard last month and noticed quite the gap between wild and standard.
It made me think of how the meta in wild will digress more and more from standard, and how gradually, standard sets will have less and less impact on the wild meta. What are your thoughts on the wild meta? How different is it from standard right now?
I think there is a pretty big difference, but I wish there was still more variety. 80% of warlocks are reno, the majority of mages are reno as well. priest has a little more variety, but all of them can be a pain to play against. Paladin has like 6-7 viable decks which is nice, though at rank 5ish its mostly secret/control anyfin/aggro murloc. druid is mostly egg which can be a pain if they draw their buffs early.
Overall, I like it, I just wish that each class had at least 3 viable decks, because it does get stale at times.
