I faced between rank 20 and 8 exactly 3 secret paladins. Yeah. Secret Paladin is the reason!
Of course you did, but 20-8 is irrelevant. Real game and the meta starts at 5+ and that's where Wild becomes a mess (it's a mess even before that but from that point on it's a nightmare). And it's not even how "diverse" is meta but how imbalanced matchups are. Priest will win 85-90% times vs Zoo, Patron will win 85-90% times vs Zoo, Zoo will win 80-85% times vs Secret Pala etc. Complete, absolute matchup dependence with literally 0 skill involved. If Standard is 0 skill Wild is -1 skill. It's all about what you face and who draws 1st Boom and company, far worse than Standard mode.
Well, could you please remind me of Demonlock's Standard win rate? 50/50 is it?
I don't know why there are so many bliss ninnies railing on Toymachine. He's right, and he is providing sources to back it up! Come on, guys. Anyway, wild is interesting for sure, but as some have said, it will take a couple of rotations before we see something interesting going on. The card pool needs more broken cards before we see more variety. In eternal formats in card games, you usually see the best of the best of the best combos competing to be the top. Right now, there are ~3. And they are carbon copies of pre-WotG net decks (I personally haven't seen any new cards included. WotG is on the power curve, but the standard pool just doesn't have the same defensive cards as Naxx produced. So we get aggro everywhere). I think the biggest upside is that there truly isn't anything to lose when you play there. Go try some janky decks, re-invent the wheel, or whatever. I sure did have fun with some Violet Illusionist control Rogue stylings, since there are ample heals in that format. I think Valeera will take some time before she is given a true finisher and a good board clear before we can explore that style further.
Teal Deer; great place for theory crafters low rank, high rank is full of old ghosts.

NA golden heroes: Hunter, and Rogue! Let's try for Paladin next!
It's not competitive at all cos it's basically which matchup will you face and not how you play, so even if it can seem "refreshing" and fun, once you get to higher ranks (5+) you realize what's going on
It's also more draw dependent than Standard. Who draws 1st Boom, Scientist etc. have very good chance to win, and even tho there are some "broken" cards in Standard it's still an absolute joke comparing to real OP cards that exist in Wild
The balance thing is arguable, if everything is super strong, nothing is. But for this 2 are just complete lies. If anything is a lot more competitive, you really need to know what the hell you're doing, there is no remorse for placing wrong a minion or casting the wrong spell, everything is more taxing on your skills because so many cards can turn the game around. So Wild takes a lot more skill than standard.
And the second part is even a bigger lie, standard IS more dependant on what you draw, between wild and standard, standard is the format where I have to pray for seeing "that card" to keep me alive, while in wild I tend to have 1 or 2 options already in my hand to react to my opponent's actions.

There is nothing left if you can not has the right to bear your arms - werebear 2016-eternity campaign
I think the reason is, that newer players cant afford it and have no possibility to obtain the cards needed, to play in Wild. It will be a retro-Modus for veteran hearthstone players only.
I myself disenchanted all wild cards to get some good standard cards and will continue to do so, because i am a f2p Player and so have a limited amount of gold and dust
Oh, I play on EU, so maybe Wild on EU is less cancer than NA? Secret Paladins get rekt by Priests easily, so yeah. If I play 15 games on wild and run into 3 Secret Paladins thats fine. Playing 15 games on Standard and running into 8-10 Shamans is just awfull. I changed my own shaman list big time (well, 8 cards are different from what everyone else is playing), just so I wouldn't be bored in a mirror match, racing to play the same shit.
I think people just get mad when they can't win a game playing their own deck, so they have to play someone else's deck to climb the ladder. Wild ofcourse is the bigger challenge, so if your deck building skills suck, or you don't have certain cards to play, sure, you become an advocate for Standard.
Wow that's kind of ironic that you're complaining about 8/10 games being against the same shaman but you also played that same shaman until you changed 25% of the cards. I bet you didn't change the openers so everyone you beat by turn 6 or 7 probably just says "oh great same old shaman". Wild is pretty fun until you get to around rank 10 then it is the same as standard. Shaman and Hunter is replaced with Secret Pally and Hunter and those 2 decks will make up 70% of all your games.
What I dont understand it why everyone is complaing about secret pally in wild when you have 4/6 cards that can neuter that shit immediately. Eater of Secrets, Kezan Mystic and (if you play hunter) Flare are awesome against it (even if Kezan Mystic is more appropriate against Mage and Hunter secrets). For you people who play against 60% Secret Paladin, it sounds like obvious choices.
Personally I (almost) only play wild because thats were the fun combos are.
Everyone plays in standard because everyone thinks everyone else is playing in standard. Wild is a lot of fun, but there are lots of WTF moments (which I personally find enjoyable but might not be for everyone).
Unsurprisingly there are a lot of hyperbolic accusations and assumptions about the Wild format from a lot of people who probably don't play it that much (besides their brief stint in which they got to legend once so now they are an expert).
The simple reason people don't play a lot of wild right now is that it's just too similar to Standard. It certainly feels like a different format, but more like Standard on steroids. Once you fully delve into the format it also has it's imbalances, but the "top-dog" deck in Secret Paladin is in a more oppressive state than something like Midrange Shaman.
That all being said, can Wild be a fun format? Freaking absolutely. Secret Paladin will not be 80% of the meta and you will not just auto-win or auto-lose games based on OP cards. At the end of the day people will complain about literally everything in this game and so continue trying out the format!
In my case from the beggining i decided to only play standard ,i dont really care about collecting virtual cards so this allows me to disenchant the rotating ones and craft the new ones since i dont put much money in this game.... also this keeps the game fresh for me. Who knows how many expansions blizzard will release but i intend to play all of them and enjoy every new meta , instead sticking to old things. Some ppl like to keep their cards and do crazy stuff on wild and thats fine too. I think at the end it all comes down to whether you are a f2p or kinda f2p and want to stay competitive or a collectionist/nostalgic and can afford it
Right now it's not all that different from standard. It only has 1 additional expansion and adventure. When standard was introduced it became the new refreshing thing making wild seem a bit dull by comparison.
Give it a couple years though and wild will be a supremely entertaining mode for many players. It just needs more expansions to differentiate itself from standard.
lol i wonder are the same people who are defending wild here the priests that play 6 boardclears there? and then BM you as they are surely much more skillful than you playing boardclear after boardclear . or the secret paladins that spam well met?
and secret paladin is everywhere in wild if you dont see them youre propably rank 20 or something. wild is secret paladin, deathrattle hunter and priest. and all these decks are incredibly unbalanced. sure if you are rank 15 in a dead mode you will see fun decks and you will think wild is a fun place but trust me if it became more popular somehow you would return to standard and never look back. wild is a place to play 1-2 games when you feel nostalgia about your old cards but thats it. if you try to actually climb you will eventually say "fuck booms scientists etc im playing standard only"

Or maybe some people have different taste / opinion than you ? You know, not all people enjoy the same stuff. I personnaly like Wild, and I've been legend twice there and rank 4 or less the other seasons.
Secret pally is less then 15% of the decks I face, that's less then shaman or secret hunter in standard right know. And at least you can play all the different classes in Wild.

I used to be a control player like you, then I took a quick shot to the knee.
One of the reasons that no one os mentioning os that in order to obtain the cards you have to craft them ... And if you don't have the op cards you are screwd ...
And Blizzard decided it was a good idea not to discount them. Seriously they should just give Naxxramas to people who want to buy it.
Blizzard didn't put any effort into fixing broken cards like Boom and Challenger. So most of the meta in wild is built around who can best draw and exploit those broken cards.
I like playing it at the lower ranks, since it allows me to preserve my Standard rank while clearing quests, and the matches are easier than casual.
Wild format is more rock-paper-scissors. Matchups have a higher tendency to become lopsided and become complete blowouts. If you know how to read your current meta, you will dominate. But this is easier said than done because it's much harder to predict what the next deck will be.
Also, there's no hard counter to solid deathrattles and N'Zoth. You will run out of removal.
All things considered, I still prefer Wild over Standard. I like being able to build decks with my full collection.
People complaining about Dr.7. I havent seen him a few months on wild ladder xDDD
You must be at a pretty low rank then...Between rank 12-3 I have seen almost exclusively secret Pally, "midrange" hunter, Spirit claw aggro/ midrange shaman and tempo mage. All these decks run Dr. Boom in wild except sometimes tempo mage. In the last 2 weeks or so I have seen 0 priests, maybe 5 rogues and a few Patron warriors but some of those run Dr. Boom as well. At like rank 25-15 though there are lots of homebrew decks so if you just wanna have some fun wild is the place to go.

For me wild is painfully boring and only provides the illusion of being more diverse. Same old bs I've dealt with forever and ever again.
I'll still never understand how people don't see secret paladins everywhere. At least 40% of my games are against secret paladin.

Mill Rogue can use Dancing Swords, Clockwork Giant, Antique Healbot and Deathlord
N'zoth Decks have Undertaker, Nerubian Egg, Kel'Thuzad, Baron Rivendare, Sneed's Old Shredder...
and how else do you build the best 30(35) Legendary Deck?
Check out my OTK chargfury shaman deck.

Good players adapt.
