My first arena went horrible, like 2-3. I forgot what I actually chose. I won't blame it on "horrible cards". Rather, I didn't yet have a feeling for how to balance between picking a good card and picking a card that fits the mana curve. My next run was with Shaman and went 6-3. Incidentally, 6 is also the highest I have gotten so far since I still do too many misplays (I find it really hard to mulligan correctly) and also still need more experience to judge what cards are better picks.
The most CRAZY arena I ever had was an aggro-mage deck with Antonidas for the late game.
My first arena was also horrible, i think was 2-3 or worse. Second one slighty better, third no so much, forth again poor result. After that finally i scored a 7-3, and a couple arena after finally my first 9. Now i am performing very well overall (grandmaster), so experience matters for me. But of course you need a good draft to reach 7-9 wins.
my first Arena was as a warlock. i went 4-3! i've had very limited experience playing magic the gathering (got into it like, two months ago, have a fun theros minotaur deck, you can tell im super casual). I remember i had a lot of flame imps and blood imps, and some other low mana good cards that took me those games. i think i went in with quite an advantage because i'd spent hours and hours watching trump because as a poor art student (whos always wanted to do some artwork for magic the gathering or maybe hearthstone one day, that'd be so cool) i dont really want to spend money, and i got quite fearful that i was going to tank 0-3 in the arena many times
i think watching that stream helped my drafting a whole lot, and i managed to get that 4-3 and i was quite proud of it. my next attempt would take me 8-3 as a rogue, almost a 9-2 but a critical mistake killed me, though that game was very close and well played by my opponent. After that a 5-3 warlock (more flame imps), but then i sank into a heap of bad games, 1-3 warrior, 2-3 rogue, 3-3 priest, it wasnt good haha.
I think my next Arena run, was as a 5-3 rogue (i ahve these written down) and that was really fun because i got to slam down Illidan Stormrage (Favourite character, want him as a gold card... or normal will do too...) twice. I felt very scared playing him the first time, against a priest with 10 mana. (MIND CONTROL NOOOOOOOOOOOOO) but it turned out fine. that YOU AAAARE NOOOOOT PREEEEEPAAAAAARED gets me every time, so cool.
i then 9-2'd my next one :D it was all because i drafted Leeroy Jenkins
done arena 4 times now never won. go 0-3 every single time. i can hardly do any damage to the enemy. i'll take advice if anyone has any. At this point i just feel like im wasting my money
Before you do any more arenas, watch a player such as Trump (www.twitch.tv/trumpsc) from 11 am PST. Read the FAQ on his channel and try to understand why he does what he does. There are many cards that he'd call a "new player trap". Cards that sound amazing to new players yet are a waste of space if you think carefully about them (Like the 3 mana restore 6 health paladin card or the 0 mana 1/1 wisp)
My first arena draft ever I got 8-3 and thought I was a genius. Before getting a beta key, I watched tons of streamers like Trump so I did have a reasonable idea of what I was doing. But after that run, I started doing pretty terribly. I think I've finally figured some things out to mostly get 5-7 wins, but I'm not quite the genius I thought I was :).
My first arena I went 5-3 with a Mage. 5 straight wins, 3 straight losses :(

First run, I went 2-3 (all loses to priests), as a Mage.
Next I went 5-3 ( 2 priests and a Mage), as a warrior.
My third run, I went priest.
I got 9/3 in my first arena with mage... every arena I've done since then I've not got further than 4 wins -.-
9/3 is not possible :D
i did 9/2 first arena, after that i didnt get past 5 wins anymore
