No, I don't hate it because I lose a lot, in fact, I do LOSE A LOT just like the average player.
What I hate about it is that over 25% of the players try to take the entire turn deciding on what card to play, starting from TURN freaking ONE. I mean, this is absolutely ridiculous because sometimes you might think they are afk for awhile (maybe taking a piss, eating or texting, etc.) but on turn two it's still the goddamn SAME thing. Against every guy that I've played who tends to delay a lot, it's always "set a card down, wait 60 seconds, attack my minion, wait 15 more seconds, play spell, wait 15 seconds again, end turn." Rest is basically rinse and repeat until someone loses or I finally decide to concede if it's still turn five FIFTEEN minutes IN.
I don't understand why would someone waste others' time just to anger them or make them surrender. This is just poor sportsmanship and a rage-inducing way to make someone quit the game. If you happen to be the guy who do this, unfortunately I have nothing to say to you except conceding to you when I play against you. Time is way more valuable than losing a round of arena, especially when I could've cleaned my whole house instead of spending 30+ minutes sitting there doing nothing while waiting for the other person to take their sweet "little" turn.
As long as no feature that punishes people for playing slowly intentionally is added (and I don't think one ever will), you'll have to learn to deal with it. And I don't mean it's easy, no... no. I find it very difficult to tolerate players with bad behavior, but there isn't much I can do besides trying my best to beat them and doing the same they're doing to me.
Maybe you should only play arena when you literally have too much free time in your hands? haha :/
Its a effective tactic, and people like yourself make it so. Go get a book to read. or get a audio book. or Alt+tab in to something. One of my most amusing games was when someone started roping me so I grabbed a book and proceeded to read through his roping. I played at a standard pace. turn 6 he conceded because every time he hit end turn I'd use the 'thankyou' emote.
They're not wasting your time, intentionally, sometimes. More experienced players often do calculations that less experienced players miss so the players are not merely dawdling between "should I shouldn't I".
For example, I'm merely an average player; but, sometimes, it can take me the entire turn to calculate how many net stat points on the board that I could gain (by either playing creatures or removing my opponent's). Some cards like Spectral Spiders make the calculations more difficult and it's also important to consider how my opponent would trade if they intend to do so and how that would affect my board presence.
OP needs to learn patience; that's how you become better at this game. Most of us get annoyed by slow players, but it serves no purpose to get so salty.
I do agree that it is important to take the time you need when options present themselves in order to maximize your value. This is especially true if you are playing a constructed deck involving combos, face decks, not so much. However, the OP is talking about arena where the need to plan out combos is nearly irrelevant. Salt thread? Maybe. The thing I do agree with though is a point that he makes when talking about the first two turns. The need to rope on the first turn is pretty much never needed. With arena, where tempo matters, you either have something or you don't on the first turn. The same goes with the second turn, you want to gain the advantage.
On another note, with the question about why someone would want to waste someone else's time? That's exactly what they are doing in most cases, they want to win, so they try to drag it out in an agonizing matter so your will concede instead of finishing the game.
Ok doofus. Am I talking about pro players here? Did you actually read my post instead of blabbering some bs here and there. Your advice is rubbish and I'm sure that's an advice 10 year olds could give. I only referred to the players that are taking 90 seconds every turn, do you classify that as skilled?
And how is watching pro players roping often going to help me sitting through a baddie that takes up the whole turn wanking off to my Golden eleven archer? Do pros take 90 seconds on turn one with nothing to play? Just watch any players that are good, Kripp and Reckful almost never take that long even on turn six. Why? It's because they want to climb faster and playing slow makes them look like a childish noob in front of 20000 audiences, duh.
If you enjoy games with abysmal long turns, please do us a favor and play chess instead. Gosh, I didn't know elementary school arithmetics can be so challenging.
"It's turn one and you don't have the coin, this decision can't be that fucking hard"
I find that arena can be quite a drag at times. But I purely play it because the reward potential is just better even if you net 0-3 wins. And you know the more you play the better you get
I average around 6 wins in arena, in last month I got 12 wins 7 times (out of total 84 arenas I played). Bad runs can happen, but when I play seriously, I usually take long time to plan my move before doing anything rash. But it is true that some players are just BM and do their play then end up not ending their turn, just for sake of frustrating opponent. You just have to learn to deal with those kind of players, I for example have 2nd monitor, and when I notice jerk bag, I do the same. Do my turn, then look and surf on the other monitor until rope ends my turn ;)
But when it comes to the actual game I tend to not emote/bm my opponent, because I know the feeling of being BM'ed. Friendly tip: Music is your best friend, it helps you relax and think trough ;)
Telling people to go play call of duty when they have a real issues that have persisted in Hearthstone for ages is not the way to go.
Sorry.
This is not an issue of Hearthstone. It's ignorance and or impatience of an amateur player. Watch some games of pro players and show me one that doesn't rope often. They think, they calculate which may be the reason for their results. You should work on your attitude too because telling people to 'man the **** up' in your own whiny and bitchy thread is just borderline funny.
Streamers and youtubers have a reason to be playing slowly. They are entertainers, thats how they earn money, right? If they would simply play the games they wouldn't get many views. Their slow turns are filled with chat - either talking about the possible plays, the general aim of the game, or hearthstone in general. If they would just silently play cards, the games would go much quicker.
A normal player having a choice of "coin Zap-o-Matic" or "play Worgen Infiltrator" won't spend enough time for the rope to appear. Maybe on later turns, where you need to make difficult choices, but not turn 1. The players simply do that because they are either half-afking or purposely annoying the opponent.
This is me. I squelch people so I don't have to listen to them emoting during my turn that I'm taking too long.
I paid my gold, I'm going to take as much time as I need to think slowly and max out my returns. Farm rank 20 if you want brainless fast games.
I took you seriously until you said this. How is it better to just concede, then play the game out and beat them. If they need to take their time, then let them take there time and go do something else while waiting. It is not being a man to just concede when you get bored, it is the opposite in my opinion. Besides if you just concede, they will want to keep doing this so they won't stop taking long turns
To me, conceding is a form of good sportsmanship. If you're at one hp, have no minions on board and an useless card in hand, just concede for the sake of getting on to the next match for both of us. I just can't understand the mentality of some people that just won't accept defeat even if they're doing nothing to outplay me. Even if they're winning by a long stretch, they still take their entire turn to read every card in their entire hand, use hero power, wank off to some casual hentai before hitting my face in the last 5 seconds.
If you purposefully waste other people's time, that is unsportsmanlike behaviour. There's absolutely no need to take the entire turn BM'ing me with your stupid emote when you could've just finished me off with lethal. For now, I think I'll just concede ty.

I'm pretty sure, there is a correlation between time taking for a turn and wins.
As you can see in the last tournament EU Qualifier in Prague the player who played his turns fast, made some terrible mistakes, while if you sit down and calculate all your options, you make better plays.
Often times i find myself making a play and seconds after that i see a better play. You should take your time making your plays if you take your results more seriously. It will make your results better.
I appreciate your comment but that has absolutely nothing to do with turn one and turn two arena plays where there is often only one easy choice to make. That said, I have never intentionally BM'ed anyone by roping and I just find it to be incredibly childish.

I spent way too long looking at that gif haha

Can't deny that it's true though. : /

Maybe you should just man the fuck up instead and take it up as a loss?
However, if you're on turn 6-10+ then it's perfectly fine with me.
No, I surrender when they rope me 4+ times and I know that I'm losing/they have lethal.
