Just a notice for all the kiddies around here: Don't play the arena right now - you'll need that gold to buy grand tournament packs, much more than you'll need it for that extra gvg pack!
Why do most of the 7+ arena players think that 7+ wins are so common? Guys, you are an exception. Be happy with about that, but don't pretend it is so easy to get there and that it is normal. It is not easy and it can't be normal due to the nature of Arena.
I for myself stopped playing Arena for now. Haven't figured out yet what the best strategy is to deal with Blizzards stupid idea of random pack rewards.
Or: Blow your gold on packs now, because you are going to end up doing the pre-order deal, anyway. C'mon, you know it already. It's only fifty bucks, and you get the card back, too. No one will judge you. Just spend the 105 gold in your account on another classic pack now, and worry about the future later.
If you enjoy playing arena, play arena! If you lose to frequently take a break.
However hording gold to buy as meany packs for the new expansion as you can, is not that good of an idea. In the first month of GvG everyone was trying new things, after that the old decks simply incorporated the few good cards. The rest of the cards emerged every so often when someone tried to not use a meta deck.
gee and i thought mech mage was invented after gvg, but i guess i was wrong this whole time......

Arena is easy to get 7 wins, and if you can't just go for the 5 or 6 win's you already win. Because a pack cost 100 gold and arena cost 150. If you get 5 or 6 win's you can get close to 100 gold so you already win 50 gold.
And get to 7 win's is easy, just play mage everytime.
Dynamis is right. The way arena is structured, 3 wins has to be the average, or close to it. So saying that 7 wins is "easy" is misleading. It's true, that a dedicated players should expect to achieve a higher average than 3 with a little hard work. However, pushing towards a 7 win average is significantly above average. Consider this post on Reddit with a detailed analysis of how "easy" it is to each tier of wins in arena here.
Other than that, I agree with others who say that you should play arena if you find it fun or are confident in your ability to average the number of wins you want.

Sorry, i wasn't specific enough. I didn't mean easy to get 7+ wins in a single run, i meant 7+ on average. Because otherwise you don't gain money from arena on average. You still get the cost reduction as you say, but now i get an old pack with a dust value of <150 for me. If i safe the gold i might get less packs, but new packs with a much higher dust value. So therefore the advice of the OP makes sense for most of the arena players, which mainly play to grind.
pfft, I don't play constructed barely at all, why would I want to subject myself to the same tired decks. I agree with people, the meta sucks, I don't play games to not enjoy myself. (though honestly the game is probably just old and stale and some people are trying to force the same excitement they can't possibly still have at this point)
I'll have all the new cards unlocked immediately, since I only play arena, the new pool of minions will be there, and I'll only unlock all the cards because it's unavoidable if you do well in arena.
I'm a 7-8 win average arena player and I definitely didn't get to this point overnight. But the quickest way to learn is to jump from the different servers (NA, Europe, Asia) until you reach a point where you don't need to anymore. That's not what I did at first, I just did the stray arena run like I'm sure most new players do, which is a much slower process.

This has been a PSA from Captain Obvious.
Check out my Custom Undead Expansion!
...Or my Custom Elemental Expansion!
Well, I need classic, gvg, and tgt packs. I think I'm fine farming arena for packs.
Arena is actually a great way to farm gold if you're a player who goes 7+ wins frequently.
Or play arena, earn more gold than doing nothing AND earn dust to craft new cards right away.

Well, after exhausting the Tavern Brawl for its loot with miracle rogue I'm at the 100 gold limit, had 3 runs after that getting me even more :'D

Why should I not play arena to save gold for TGT if I can play arena to farm gold and dust for TGT?
You can't play mage everytime -.-
Just do what you wish. Useless thread.
