Hello fellow arena players. Since the release of Ashes of Outland I've played 25 arena runs but there is a twist... I completely avoided picking Demon Hunter. From those 25 runs my win rate is 5,12. I usually average slightly above 6 wins. Here are my stats since the release of Ashes of Outland:
As you can see, Demon Hunter is by far the most common class i had to play against. My experience: the only class that can reliably deal with Demon Hunter seems to be Priest. You need lots and lots of survivability and board clears. Facing Demon Hunter feels like playing against regular face Hunter with insane amount of card draw. Hunter has a weakness that he often runs out of cards, but Demon Hunter is an aggro class that just never runs out of steam. Often times, by the end of the game, my Demon Hunter opponent would have 10 cards less in his deck than me, all because class cards with card draw. And to make things even weirder, Blizzard just recently decided to remove all card draw from Priest. In the past, it seems there was a general philosophy that each class should have a few card draw options, but at some point this went out of the window. I expected more from Shaman and Druid this season but both of these classes get crushed by Demon Hunter, against other classes they do well. Warrior seems OK because his natural survivability which is important against Demon Hunter, but it was only one run so I would not judge yet. Besides, Warrior is generally bad. Mage and Paladin are OK otherwise, but facing Demon Hunter is still an uphill battle. For illustration here is my last run (as Druid):
Notice something unusual?
As someone who used to be very active in the fan creation community I must say that new classes and cards people used to create on this forum had much higher quality standards than what Blizzard did with Demon Hunter. Many of his class cards are so obviously overpowered, if you would submit them as fan creations, people would ridicule you for not understanding balance. Not to mention the amount of power creep in the last expansion. And lastly, if the team at Grinning Goat can craft an algorithm that can relatively well predict the power level of each card, how is Blizzard with all their resources unable to do the same?
Conclusion: Don't be like me, just pick Demon Hunter.
thanks man, i dont play arena since witchwood and i was going to play one right now, but after reading this i dont want to be crushed by some demon hunter overpowered cards, and knowing my luck i will not be able to pick dh

If you only have a 5 average after 30+ runs a lot of your losses was due too misplays.
