I have been thinking about the pool of Arena players.
- Good players will obviously want to play more, usually average 5 wins+
- Bad players will get discouraged and will play less to not play at all, usually average < 3 wins
So if only good players keep winning and bad players keep losing then we will end up with a very limited pool of only good Arena players. That obviously is not healthy to promote the PlayMode from Blizzard's standpoint. So what would they do? Here are some theories:
- Some say Blizzard use bots to play at low wins rate to help players achive at least 1 - 2 wins so ppl have some hope. I can see this happen.
- My theory is Blizzard draft fix and match making fix to balance out good and bad players. For bad players, which Blizz could identify through Arena win rate record, for example, player A has just come back of a 1-3 and has a lifetime win rate of 2.3 wins. Blizz can then up the draft picks to help this player has higher chance to get more good cards in the next run. And during the match making, Blizz can also match him with player not only have similar wins up to the point on that run but also ppl with similar lifetime win rate as well.
The opposite can be applied to Good Players, which I have seen some posts rant about this: a case where after a 12 wins run, they immediately suffer some bad 2 3 wins runs. This from my theory is the way Blizz can identify this player B has a lifetime win rate of 5.8 wins and just got a good run, let balance him out so player A above can have some joy too by giving player B the next draft of low quality buckets and match him with good players like him.
This way both player A and players B will still be somewhat happy and will continue to play on and thus enlarging the player pool. What do you think?
