First of all, I want to gload that I just got my first 12 - 0 ever, :D. My average is 4 wins so this doesn't happen to me a lot or at all.
So because of that, I have a chance to make some friends at high wins, totally out of curious to see how their decks will fare continue on. And one thing I noticed that all of them that accept to be friend with me ( on this run ) are at rank 20 and below! Even my 11 and 12 wins opponents are rank 21 and 20 respectively.
I myself only rank 21 at the moment so I can relate to that, I almost don't play constructed, only play to clear daily quest and to get to rank 20 to get the card back.
So is that true? Are you guys who play arena a lot on the same boat as me?
I don't know, I have gotten 12 wins a few times and I play plenty of constructed. To be honest, it depends on the state of the game. I mostly play arena a few weeks after the new expansion launches, after I have already experimented with new cards and I want to have some fun with arena. I have fun with arena for a week or two and then I start playing ranked again and saving gold for next expansion.
I guess it depends on each individual, i personally dont play much of constructed, that is true. Usually end up around rank 20.
That probably stems from the fact, that if you do well in arena, you spend a lot of time there by default, since a 12 run can take even a few hours. And when your average is decent, that means your every other run takes at least an hour or so. So you spend your time playing the game mode you like - or mby i should say prefer - and there isnt much time to grind ladder.
I generally play arena if I have lots of time available, and constructed/casual if I don't. I get to rank 5 every month, which usually takes a few days, and then either do arena or fun decks.
Congrats to 12 wins, 12-0 is very rare even for veteran arena players.
I play around 3-4 hours of constructed every month to get to rank 5, usually right at the end of a season. For arena I play 20-40 runs in a month, which is around 30-50 hours for me.
I have high average of arena wins mostly. Most of my arena runs dont usually go below 6 wins. And thats not counting any 12-11 or so win i make often.
The thing is i only play arena in the start of an expansion to get every possible card out of that set or the cards i need. I spend all my remaining time afterwards grinding constructed. Because arena feels boring to me even though im good at it after all these years. I just use it as a means to grind myself some tier 1 decks without paying any real money into the game. Except some pre orders.

Thanks man, I'm surprised myself as well on the 12 - 0, I know the deck was good but my skill might not be up to par to carry it all the way.
I guess at your rank 5 level, it would be the same rank 20 level for me to grind a few hours to jump from 4 levels down to what you want. It makes sense, that why you will still be high ranked level while can spend a lot of time in Arena.
I have to point out that you don't have to hit rank 20 in order to get the card back. You only need to win 5 games.
That's true, this is one of the thing I lost touch off with constructed play. I guess I will still make my goal to get to rank 20 anyway to get the golden card.

I think you mean when the expansion launches, you play ranked first to experimented the new cards, then you play Arena for fun right.
But then after like a month and a half when the novelty of the new expansion wears off, to save gold and with your skill, you should play Arena right?

Yeah, this is how I feel too since I don't have a lot of time so I mostly play Arena. My other reasons would be:
- I don't have many legendary or epic cards to make a Tier 1 deck to compete effectively ranked.
- The ladder just seems so boring with so many decks you faced again and again and you know how the game played out. I feel like conceding the moment I see Baku opening with Paladin and Rogue.

How can you even say that.. you're rank 20. At ranks 20-8 the aggro decks are far less common and the players are bad
So I'm the only one who do that then? And to be fair, having an alt does not necessary means I'm an noob, no. It's just a personal preference (a weird one, I know). On my alt I use all my gold on arena and craft thief rogue for shits and giggles. Heck, I call it my alt and yet I probably have spent more time on it now. And I don't care about rewards, at least right now.
Then...as you can see, I've refer to myself a dozens times in the 3 lines above already...so that basically proves nothing I guess.

Grats on the 12 win.
Just bias of personal experience. It can go either way regarding what someone plays and when.

Some people have a main account for constructed and an alt account for practicing arena, so I guess that's why.
From my experience, most people who I add in arena are rank 5 to Legend

Why is this? Seems like you would want to play arena on an account where the rewards actually help you.
Makes no sense to have an alt unless you are really bad at the game.
Thanks man, yeah my sample is small, but with 0% of high rank players makes you question.

Best convoluted thread in some time! Personally, £ play arena chonstantly. It's the way I act. It's the way I don't get out of my reshponshibilitiesh!
I enjoy.
Okay, that sounds like i have to much money but maybe there‘s someone like me:
Arena only player
5 games every season in ranked for the cardback
still purchasing every expansion preorder and play ranked for like a week until i get bored and head back to my beloved arena
i have to say HS is the only game i play and mostly on mobile. So thats like a new game every couple of months when i buy a expension.
