ehm im not sure whats wrong but arena is weirding me out right now. I used to be an infinite arena player and get legend in standard whenever i feel like it (thus i kinda know what im doing) but arena right now feels like the biggest rng fest. I lose to the worst drafts which somehow got an answer of some kind to mine. And rngfactor went up by a lot.
is it just me having a bad streak or did arena really get screwed over compared to latest WW arena?
I had a similar feeling. When I focussed on arena and drafted well I usually hit 12 wins within 5 attempts. Now the runs seem more random with the big arena changes this year. I went 2-3 with a deck that looked insanely strong and then 8-3 with probably the worst deck I ever got.
Maybe somebody can prove it with a higher drop rate of highly game changing cards? Or it is just a gut feeling and is actually not true at all :D
They did make some changes to the bucket system recently, but overall it's still the same. Just because you aren't going 12-0 doesn't mean arena is screwed.
So you now just can't draw 3x Blizzards or Steeds or Silverswords+Vinecleavers to faceroll over the games straightforward?)
Arena moved to more minion heavy and thats cool. This is more skillbased for proper and balanced drafting, instead of simply searching for overpowered spells with overpowered classes.

What is good and bad in arena has been evolving over the past few months. Blizzard wanted to get away from the "vanilla bodies" approach, and more towards class identity, synergies and thoughtful drafts.
Perhaps your idea of "worst drafts" needs to evolve as well? Personally, I've been averaging 5-6 wins in arena this expansion (best was only 11 so far), and am looking for synergies. I'm loving the new arena, because it's not the vanilla-body slugfest of old, or the stupid OP Silver Sword + aggro + Spikeridged Steed of 6 months ago.
There has definitely been a heavy swing but I'm still trying to work out where its happening. It seems to be the magnetic effect bumping a lot of decks higher than they could/should be from my experience.

Magnetic has turned arena on its head. A good mech/mag hunter/warrior draft seems to be guaranteed 10+ wins in my experience so far. And ele shaman is as powerful as ever especially with the overlood/spark synergy.
There is also more RNG power potential from cards like Weaponized Pinata, so matches feel alot more swingy since BD release.
Just finished 3 straight 12 win runs in the same day. All with different classes. Game seems fine lol jk
It's not the same meta as before where you can fall back on your comeback cards and win games off the strength of you cards. Now you need a solid curve, play for the board and balance your draft so that you have the best chance in different situations.
You're going to run into more crappy cards and situations where you can't win from, this stresses the importance of utility minions as well as minions that can help you win the board. You cant rely on spells anymore.
Magnetic has had limited impact from what I've seen. Most mechs rarely get magnetized from my 150 game experience so far.
My main issue so far is that there seems to be very little deck diversity.
Every deck seems to have the same powerhouse cards. Everyone has the Bonemare, Fungalmancer, Cobalt scalebane, etc.
I’ve been doing ok since Boomsday. A few 10 wins, probably averaging 4-5 wins, but it’s just been like the movie Groundhog Day with every deck being almost the same power level with the same cards. Snoozefest
With the 12.0 patch, new decks should be at a much lower power level compared to decks created before the changes. You're going to be offered less class cards, less spells and less weapons. You should be drafting much worse decks than before, but so should your opponents. Although, I think it might be the case you're facing people with pre-patched decks
I just did 9 runs and didn't have the option of warlock once (and only one rogue option). What are the actual odds?
I also didn't get one draft above 70. What is the average now? Just did a warrior draft that had one weapon and not one spell. Last opponent had Alexstrasza, Lich King and at least 2 mind control techs in his base deck.

Each run, you choose between 3 classes among 9, which means you have 2/3 chances to NOT have warlock.
In 9 runs, you have (2/3)^9 = 2.6% chance to not see warlock. If 1000 players are each doing the same thing of playing 9 arena runs in a row, hoping to get warlock, 26 of them (including you apparently) will not get any warlock choice. Not THAT unlikely actually, given there are thousands of regular arena players.
Im not a good arena player, I always played for board control and got punished for that a lot... now with the new changes it seems like playing for board control is a lot better and gets my average wins up... Im happy with this new arena method... gets me some free packs :)

Well, I think you are right. Due to the fact that more and more people tend to use third party tools, which helps them to create a decent deck - it surely has an impact on the increasing deck strength in general (especially for "less skilled" players).
The algorithms for these tools become even better and better. Hearthstone in general shares a lot with online poker right now - where nearly everyone uses these tools. I'm not a big fan of this to be honest - but that's how it is.
Also the matchmaking generator seems to pick almost always equally good players, no matter what your present standings are.
It's sometimes really frustrating... Ludicrous RNG is just the cherry on the cake.
Not sure this is accurate. The deck building algorithms are not as good as they appear nor do they adapt easily to new expansions. I use tools as a second opinion (mainly for keeping track of my drafts), but can differ in opinion about 10 out of 30 picks sometimes.
Tools are great but I feel their overall impact on win rate plateaus early.

The main thing is that Paladin is bad now and Warlock is good.

Yes, you have not adapted to the changes and is playing poorly.

Warlock in arena:
1. Possessed lackey turn 6
2. Trade him at turn 7 and get void lord
3. Eat void lord with cube
I was really shocked and instantly retire from this random clownery and keep grinding ladder.
This is arena we are talking about not ladder.

2nd: Warlock: 9-3
3rd: Mage 6-3
4th: Shaman 4-3
5th: Warlock 3-3
6th: Warlock 1-3
