I am sure I cant be the only one who has noticed that everyone seems to be auto-picking Mage in Arena at the moment?
And I think the problem lies mostly with Cavern Dreamer. Now dont get me wrong: I actually love to see these one shot OP cards in Arena. They shake the game up and make it a lot of fun; sinilar to a Tavern Brawl.
But I think the problem might lie not in how good CD is, but the frequency of it appearing in draft. I tried out a Mage myself recently to give it a go and I kid ye not, I had 5 (yes, 5!) dreamers in my deck. Whether that was a good idea or not is inconsequential. (I had 3 in play at once which was rather hilarious). But I do think that the rarity pool for this card beeds adjusting. It is waaaay too common at the moment.
Cavern Dreamer is supposed to be broken, just like the other event cards (whether or not they are actually broken). If you are bored of arena, then wait till the event ends, I guess?

I think you appear to have misread my post. I dont have a problem with CD being broken. In fact, I even said I liked that fact.
My suggestion was that it appears far too regularly in draft. Not only did I pick up 5 of then in one draft, but I literally just saw a video on Youtube about what happens when you get 4 in a draft.
I think Blizzard may have underestimated the pot rarity when drafting in comparison to its power level.
The fact is that cavern dreamer shits out so much random crap that it makes playing around anything hell. And you’re gonna draft like 3 of these dudes so the chances of getting this guy on turn 1/2 is really high. If you don’t have a answer for this guy, in 2-3 turns the value generated is stupidly hard to come back from.
But its ok, its arena. Just gotta sit it out for a while.
But thats the exact point. You said it right there! You’re going to draft 3 or more of these dudes. Knowing how powerful the card is proves the logic that it is much too frequently available to pick in a draft.
Once again (for the broken record), this isnt about whether the card is ‘broken’ or OP or anything like that. Yes, the card is super powerful. Thats fine. But it appears too often in the drafting process meaning you get a lot of them - and this is partly why so many people are choosing mage.
This is basically the same issue that has been there since Blizzard introduced the new drafting system, they simply werent capable of adjusting the appearance rates or assigning (some) cards into proper buckets or making the buckets wide enough. Still working progress, nothing much to say rly.
I will say that they did at least something right, almost every time when i was offered Cavern Dreamer, it was alongside Blizzard, which is a small consolation price, that you have to pick one of those, but it is not a rule, just most of the time it was like that.

I have a pretty good run going now where I was offered the Dreamer/Blizzard package 4 times (and I took 2 of each).

I had 3 Dreamers and 4 Blizzards in my last mage run, 5 dreamers before that :D It rly is over the top sometimes (a lot of times).
In three mage runs, I've actually only been offered CD once. I took him, obviously. That run only went 4-3, and he really only carried one win. In the other games, I only drew him twice. Once he was killed right away, the other time he survived a few turns but didn't give me any useful spells in a game I ended up narrowly losing.
That said, even though I haven't seen him in my other drafts, I did end up with three Blizzards and five Steam Surgers in a draft that's currently 6-1, so I'm not complaining.
CD can also give ppl tunnel vision, when they try to protect it by any means necessary and spend way too many resources on it. Even if it gives you just one spell, it already did its job, anything more is just a bonus, dont go too crazy on it ppl :)
Eh, you gotta make the temporary cards frequent picks. People are playing with the intention of playing the new cards, and if they aren't offered much, they'll feel scammed. If it means arena is kinda jacked for a few weeks, that's fine IMO.

Ur not wrong, but too much is too much. They went kinda in the other extreme, the first time they did this ppl were gettin like 0-1 of the arena exclusive card(s) per draft, granted there was only a single card for each class, but still.
Its difficult to enjoy the new cards when they're (a) offered so infrequently or (b) they're just tossed at you on almost every pick.
I've drafted decks with 7 event class cards and skipped on others. And then I don't see another event class card in my next draft.
My latest draft probably had to be my worst as far as card quality. I didn't see a single Fireball, Frostbolt, event class card, Flamestrike, Explosive Rune, Meteor, Pyroblast. I wasn't offered anything costing more than 6 (Blizzard). I was offered only 4 cards with more than 3 attack (Timeway Wanderer x2, Leyline x2). 2x Shimmering tempest along with 2x Temporal Anomaly tried to be my removal (Glacial Mysteries showed up twice in 3 games, Anomaly in my opening hand twice after mulligan). Its very difficult to win a single game when you can't kill your opponents minions.
Arena is simply too RNG-based in its draft.

When is everything is broken, nothing is, right?

As someone else who doesn't play arena often...is it always so curve-centric? I know it used to be a few years ago, I just thought that had changed.
It's kind of, not my thing. Which isn't to say that it can't be other people's thing. These new cards are super fun to play though.
everyone is, welcome to the club.
