Yesterday I was playing my arena game as a Warlock and encountered a strange situation.
Turn 3: I play Timeline Witness Turn 5: I play Timeway Wanderer with Timeline Witness still on board and put a 0 cost spell on the top of my deck. Turn 6: I discover a card in my deck from Timeline Witness and use my hero power but to my surprise the spell was not top deck.
What happens to the card line-up of my deck when you use Discover?
Well, Timeline Witness causes you to now draw a card but rather discover 3 random cards in your deck, so as long as Timeline Witness is on the board you won't draw any cards in the start of the turn. My guess would be that you draw the spell after Timeline Witness dies or if you use a draw spell. However, I am not sure of this.

That card was on top but when you picked one of 3 cards you have discovered, other 2 shuffles back in deck and deck is shuffled so it isnt on top anymore. I think it is working like that...every time you put something back in deck it automaticaly shuffle it.
My guess would be that Timeway wanderer shuffle your deck as part of its effect. It kinda makes sense, because out of the 3 cards that got took out of your deck to discover, 2 of them are put back into the deck, and since they are not put "on top", they must be shuffled into the deck.

If your deck is automatically shuffled after some cards are put back, then my case is rested. Can anybody confirm this is the case? It would be new information to me.

If i remember right ben brode said (after they put mechanic that put cards in your deck) deck is reshuffled every time when you add new card in deck. But yes you draw top card of the deck like they said long time ago on one forum
This seems to be a recurring question :) Basically the interaction is a bit weird, cause when a deck is shuffled, the card that Timeway Wanderer puts on the top of your deck will no longer be there since Timeline Witness' ability is treated as if it shuffles the deck, cause it puts (shuffles) the two cards you didnt pick back into the deck.
Similar thing would be with say Possibility Seeker, when you play Timeway Wanderer and Possibility Seeker in this order in the same turn, the card you draw next turn will not be the discounted spell (can be, if ur lucky, but is no longer guaranteed).
One thing I would be curious about is if the "top of the deck" is properly implemented, if you play 2 timeway wanderer in the same turn.
Since the wanderer put the new card ON TOP, there are no reason to shuffle the deck. Thus, playing 2 during the same turn should guarantee that next turn you draw the second spell, and the turn after that you draw the first spell.
Has anyone managed to have this situation happen ?

To be honest, i could have done this (i had two of those cards in my hand on T10+ multiple times), but it was hardly ever a correct play to make it, so i didnt end up doing it once :D But i would assume it would work as you say.
It was told long time ago. Each not-drawing change (shuffle, recruit etc.) reshuffles deck.
And I can tell u why it works that way. Spaghetti code. Each card in deck gets a number on the start of game, lets say "1" for top, "30" for bottom card. Normally you draw card "1", then "2", then "3" etc. But if u shuffle card into deck, which number will it get? "24" for example. But there is already card "24", so what to do? In HS, RNG gives your cards in deck new numbers.
Timeless Wanderer puts in your deck card with number "1" and reshuffles the rest. Then Timeless Witness discovers card and again reshuffles your deck, including number "1" card.

I can confirm. In same turn I put a lethal-giving spell on top of my deck then played infinite murloc for kicks. Next turn I drew some random crap. I would have won the game with that spell. Unnecessarily playing out the murloc reshuffled the deck and was the difference between 6 and 7 wins.

Anger is the punishment we give ourselves for someone else's mistake.
By the way, this is how physical card games work too. If you put something into your deck you MUST shuffle. If you tutor (aka recruit or draw a specific card) you MUST shuffle.

Hi Hearthstonians,

Would love your input!

Discover is not like tracking: It doesn't look at the top three topdecks. It gives 3 random options from anywhere in the deck.
That I understand but I used my hero power. Isn't that supposed to give me the card that was put on top by Timeway Wanderer?

Oh I missed the fact that you were a warlock. Yes, that is weird...

Drawing a card draws a card RANDOMLY from your deck. It doesn't draw the top card like most games.

Now that comment wasn't too smart, lol.

How so?
That's also how Eternal works. Drawing a card from your deck takes it from somewhere within your deck.
this occured to me aswell, annoying when you need to draw that 2 cost flamestrike.
