Hey so I thoroughly enjoy this mode of the game but I have never really done well with it. Today I spent the 63 Canadian to get WW pre order because I figure 90 cents a pack is pretty great. I had 800 gold and 3400 dust already saved for the expansion so I decided now that I have the preorder I can play around with my gold a bit before the next xpac launches. I started my run 0-2 and have since gone 5-0 with my last game ending on turn 6 against another paladin after my gibberer wreaked havoc on turns 1-5 with various buffs. My question is, is this a decent deck or am I getting lucky, and what is the worst aspect of this deck? Dig into me as I don't judge my self worth on a fun game so however badly this draft is let me have it. I want to get better at this mode because I really do enjoy it. Thanks for any and all feedback! Even the salt.:)

**Double edit: My first 2 losses were to a mage and hunter. I got the mage to 9 hp but couldn't close it out and the hunter I could have won had I drawn like I did for the mage.:P My next 5 wins were: Priest, Rogue, Druid (got me to 1 hp!) Warlock, Paladin. My deck is still active at 5-2 but I am nervous to try again as like I previously stated this is my best run ever.
Deck feels pretty average or poor. The 2x Desperate stands really don't fit into this deck and there are lots of weak minions through your entire mana curve. The good thing going for this deck is your top end feels good with the steed, Bog and Wurm. The weapons are good for catching up and probably are big reasons for your success so far. The lack of card draw hurts your chances in longer games since most of your minions do not trade well.
5+ wins with this pretty solid already so keep it up.
I ended up losing my next game and ended my run 5-3. Thank you so much for your response, I will definitely keep trying the format as it is a nice break from the grind of the ladder. So is it better to look at stats or effects when building your curve with minions? I realized right after posting that I had no card draw and only a couple cards that had even a card/ minion generation effect to them which probably isn't ideal. I think my biggest issues when building decks are figuring out how important having x number of 3 cost cards or whatever it may be is and also just choosing between minions. As I said, are stats best, is a good charge card ideal, what should I look for first and then consider afterwards?

Wow, ok this would make for a much larger discussion, also (but not only) cause of the changes in the meta lately, so sometimes you want to go for a good curve and sometimes you want to go for more greedy draft, but generally you want like:
around 4-5 decent 2-drops (ideally 3/2 or 2/3, 2/2 only if you're rly hurtin for them and you know you need em)
3-5 average 3-drops
4-5 decent 4-drops
There is no hard rule for the amount and it can vary depending on the class, for example paladin has some good 1-drops, so you might not need as many 2-drops and you can also use your hero power to get on the board, or rogue is fine just using hero power on T2, so its more important to have enough quality 3-drops.
And yes, you look at stats first (most of the time) and bonus abilities later. Generally just try to pick cards that r good on their own, dont go looking for specific synergies like resurrectin deathrattle minions etc.
I think your deck looks decent. Only card that seem bad (dont know what the other choices were so prob could be the best option) are the 2x Desperate Stand, Humility and maybe Feral Gibber and Blackguard depends on the situation.
Good job on the 5 wins!
If you want to make sure you draft a decent deck every time, you should use the HearthArena Overwolf app. Just search HearthArena and its the first link and just download. What this app does is it helps you in your drafts. The data is from other users. It tells how good of cards are by themselves and then adds extra score if theres synergy. For example Shatter is lets say 10 point card but you have a Frost Nova in deck so the score goes up to 18 since you have synergy. (bad example I know please dont ever pick Shatter in arena) And you should always pick cards that have over 100 score. Examples to this are Spikeridged Steed or Primordial Drake.
But eventually you will disagree with the apps choices when you get more experienced with arena. But I still use the app all the time since it helps me see some synergy that I may not notice or my curve or how many weapons/spells/minions/same card I have in the deck.
I will definitely check that app out! I was so happy after my 5 wins that I tried a few more drafts but I was drunk or just dumb and I got to 3 wins at most. I looked up class tiers and the best I could find was every class but warrior is okay atm. Thank you so much for giving me the benefit of the doubt as I am fairly sure I don't deserve it.:P
So one thing that always trips me up is I see I don't have enough 5+ cards and think my end game is too bad so I will never close out games. Is it more important to drop a strong late game threat (say Lich King) or a good 5-6 drop like White Eyes or Tarim?

First of all, forget about legendaries. While recent changes brought them up a lot and even after the hotfix you can still draft them relatively often, they r not important in the large scheme of things. Obviously if you get things like Tarim, LK or DW (and you get to actually play them), those cards will have a huge impact on your games, but those are what-if scenarios, you need to draft your deck that will be half decent at any point, or should strive for that.
Generally it is more important to have a good enough play on each turn rather than having one big badabum later on. Again, this depends on how the meta looks like mostly, if most played classes r like paladin or mage, you will want a tempo deck, where you can curve out early. If most played classes r like priest or WL, where neither of those classes care about early game, you can draft more late game oriented deck, since most games will go there and you will need value to have a chance.
All of this is very hard to explain and more so to give you like exact tips on what to do, its rly fluent, especially last couple weeks/months since blizzard seem to have finally taken interest in arena and changes r being made. What you can do is to watch some arena streamers like hafu, kripp, shadybunny etc. and watch them play, or just play yourself. The experience is rly the most important thing, we can tell you what to do, but if you dont get some games under your belt, it will not help you much in the end. I know arena is quite expensive, both from money/gold and time standpoint, but it is also very rewarding in a long term, if you do enjoy this game mode.
To answer your question, If you are not top heavy, always pick the highest impact card on their own which is Lich King here. But yeah don't worry about legendaries that much.

Sinti has good points. Firstly the early game is the part that wins you the games. If your opponen plays a 1 and a 2 drop and you play a 3 drop you are donezo unless your deck has lots of high impact value cards. but.... You CAN go to high wins with no 2 drops if you have a lot of 3 drops and some HUGE late game value. Mostly I end up in a situation like "hmm well that is a 2 drop but that other card is the best late game card there is" It just means your mulligans have to be different and need to play out differently.
Wow, everything is making more sense to me now. I am embarrassed to admit that I hadn't even taken my class identity into consideration when building my decks which in hindsight seems like pretty much a no brainer.:P I really like the idea of watching some streams and I'll be sure to set some time aside this week to do just that. Thank you both so much for your participation in this thread and your help with my struggles.:)
