I had my first arena run in roughly 9 months as I got tired of Standard. Picked Priest and went on with a decent controlish version against Paladin. We played back and forth and as soon as turn 8 hit, he wielded his Silver Sword. From there on everything went down the drain. Eventually I lost and went on to the next game. Second game, second Paladin: Had the game under control with Radiant Elemental into Lifeleech / +2/+2 buff until his Silver Sword appeared -> 0/2. Next two games were against Druid and Warlock which were easily beaten. 5th game, 3rd Paladin: History repeats itself: T8 Silver Sword, his board gets wiped with Holy Nova, he plays Onyxia -> 2/3.
Why is such a card allowed in Arena? I mean this card LITERALLY beat me by itself. I didn't know how impactful it was as I didn't play Arena for quite some time but that made me a little frustrated which will result in me refraining from playing Arena again anytime soon.
Only reason why it's so strong is because it appears very frequently in a bad bucket so it's an auto pick when you see it. It boasts one of the best win rates and played win rates of any card for Paladin as well.
If it was in the same bucket as steed and vinecleaver, we might not see less silver swords but we'd see less of the other premium cards which would make the class weaker as a whole. Right now no other class has a completely busted card in one of the worst buckets. This should be fixed eventually, but until then just have to live with it.
Silver sword needs to be in the top-top bucket. It snowballs so stupidly, and does bonkers things. And I'd argue that if it being in the top bucket would mean that we'd see less of the top bucket things and the same amount of silver swords, then that means that the buckets only make it even more unbalanced, and aren't what make it OP in the first place. I think it's a card that sailed straight over Blizz' heads as well with power levels.
Yes, I agree. It should probably be a near auto pick even ahead of Vinecleaver and Spikeridged Steed. Win rate wise, it's the best out of the 3. A reduced # of premium cards besides Silver Sword should bring overaell Pally win rates down a bit, which is fine, but losing to Silver Sword still sucks, but that goes for a lot of cards that win tons of games on the spot.

I see. Well it felt quite unfair to me even though I was able to clear a bunch of his buffed dudes. I had no weapon removal offered in the draft too (which I usually pick anyway as I knew Paladin/Rogue were strong in the past already). Thanks for clearing that up folks!
