I have no 1 drops, very few 2's and 7/18 cards cost above 5 mana. I dont see this deck running low on cards, assuming I didnt draft only 1 and 2 drops the rest of the way. This will be milling me on the 2nd turn after being played. I also checked out the stats on this card after posting and was kind of surprised, thought it was almost always terrible, but apparently decks that played it win 57% of their games. Still think its horrible in this case.
This is the last time Im using it, been having doubts for a while, this is the last straw lol
I would agree that in your deck specifically, Aluneth is basically suicide. I actually think its a pretty bad card given how most mage drafts go, you dont draft ranked tempo mage where you just vomit your hand and from T4 you're in topdeck mode, no ... most cards you get as a mage generate another card and/or you have costly aoes/removals. Obviously it is draft dependant in the end and you do end up in a topdeck mode sometimes, but on average, the card is horrible.
Ohhh I thought that you were upset for Cho, poor guy with a -8. He has feelings you know
TO compare I had a Kingsbane choice that came up as a low teen score (though it was at the end of my draft and I had 2 weapons already of course.
Kingsbane is VERY different from Aluneth. Aluneth's impact is immediate, Kingsbane on the other hand you have to draw over and over and even keep/draw combo pieces for it if you want to milk its worth. Not to mention that if you didnt manage to buff it or you dont actually have a way to buff it, you basically hurting yourself by putting a useless 1/3 weapon (that you can basically get from your hero power) into your deck and denying yourself draws. Arena is generally not about pulling off sweet combos, not reliably anyway. So no surprise there that Kingsbane had a very low score.
I would think otherwise. Cho is useless. Patches is only gonna be a ping which you already have as a hero power. In this meta, priest and warlock are very popular. These control classes can often outvalue mages and run you out of cards. if you have the advantage, you can just hold Aluneth. But it will be the best answer to those classes, as you can just drop minions and draw your fireballs to finish them quickly.
Results? A substantially lower score is what I expected.
If you dont like it.. pick patches? You're 18 cards in the draft and a 1/1 with charge doesnt mean that much, while the weapon gives you lots of tempo.
The problem with Aluneth is also that you put yourself on a clock and if you dont win in next couple turns, you automatically lose. I am yet to lose vs a person who played Aluneth vs me in arena.
i could have made an record in wins in arena as a priest cause i discovered aluneth but it killed me in fatigue so i am never picking aluneth in arena again.....without aluneth propably i would win
I'd pick Patches here, Aluneth is a terrible choice unless you have an extremely aggressive curve which is not the case here. Might work out in a few games with 2x Fireball though.
Easy Patches. Maybe you'll draft a Pirate and then it's pretty decent. And even if you don't, it's just a crappy 1-drop. Cho and Aluneth are garbage and will sit in your hand with no opportunity to play them.
You have no pirates, so you have to choose between a dead card, a stonetusk boar (extremely low value), and a card that is dead half the time and great if you have it in a topdeck battle. I would pick aluneth here. Its not like you are forced to play it when you draw her, you can keep it for when you are desperate for answers. Still much better than a stonetusk boar imo
*facepalm* Aluneth is not used to play for tempo in arena, it's to play for value. Many games go down into topdeck mode where you have 0-2 cards in your hand and is basically useless. Instead of an inevitable death to your opponent topdecking his bog creeper; you put yourself on a 3-4 turn clock where you drop all of your class (or as many as you can), rush face, and make super value trades if necessary. THAT'S how you use Aluneth. You don't just tempo it out on turn 6 and hope to win the game like how some or you are suggesting. -.- Drawing two 4 drops and a 5 drop *IN TOPDECK MODE* is actually insane more times than not and I can't believe that most of you are skipping this very value oriented turns and actually like you're going to fatigue to deck at the start of your next turn. Top deck mode usually occurs when you have drawn between 1/2 - 2/3's of your deck (leaving you with ~12 cards left) and giving you another 4 turns to finish off the game. Not to mention that your deck has 2 fireballs, explosive runes, and firelands portal; your deck should do that with ease in most cases. You're guaranteed to draw those 2 fireballs before you take a significant amount of fatigue damage meaning that your burst comes before his (your fatigue). I would definitely have taken Aluneth here, and modified your deck for more early-midrange cards if possible. Only cards I say is trash synergy is your flamestrike, primalist, and seer. Even then, they are board clears for when you DON'T draw Aluneth in your game and try to go the distance. Overall, I believe you should take a step back from the constructed decks and take a look at possible Strats and synergies before bashing an app that gives you a score based on statistical data. :L
Just saw this. I have over 6k arena wins, you dont need to to explain what running out of cards means, thanks though :) Ill take your advice into consideration next time Im offered that nonsense. I just didn't envision that deck ever running low on cards, even on turn 16, if you have 6 cards in hand, would you play this? Considering that you can maybe get rid of 2 cards per turn at best?
Im not bashing the app based on this alone. I loved heartharena when i first started playing, it was definitely a huge help, my win avg went up by about 1.3 after downloading it. However after some expansion was released I noticed a substantial drop off in my win avg, until i decided to try drafting on my own, and it went back to where it was. My logic, and please do correct me if Im missing something, is that HA uses data from matches in its algorithm. When cards are first released, there is little to no data, and with people still learning, the data will be unreliable. Even old cards need to be re-evaluated, with new synergies, etc. After a few weeks, their system tends to adjust and be more reliable.
However, I still find that i tend to do better when I draft with HA off. Perhaps because it doesn't account for your play style? Im sure some cards have a very specific niche and way to play them(Aluneth? :D), but theres more than 1 way to play the game. Even using it as a guide, doesnt work for me. I often like to put run my deck through their system after the draft to see what theyd score it and I find that tier score doesnt seem to translate into wins as frequently as youd think. I know this is circumstantial evidence, but this is my current arena deck.

Not sure I see the problem here.

It’s the best pick easy, the other 2 are just bad.

I'd pick Cho. Play to be ahead on board and pick up a copy of whatever spell my opponent is trying to clear with. Kthnx!

i think i would pick Cho or patcher
If you are in your first year of playing please read this post.
Dust does not burn a hole in the jar. Be careful what you craft, especially before and right after a rotation.

Patches. You can still find a pirate in the rest of the draft too. Has synergies with your 2x Dark Irons as well.
Aluneth gives zero tempo the turn it's played (whoever said it gave tempo is wrong) and your deck is full of expensive cards already.
