So now instead of getting sniped by Wild decks, Kripp will get sniped by Death Knight decks!
Out of curiosity, I checked hsreplay.net for stats on hero cards in arena. Average win rates for decks containing hero cards are over 50%, as are average win rates "when played" for all except Valeera the Hollow. What's really crazy, though, are the "when played" win rates for Frost Lich Jaina and Bloodreaver Gul'dan, which are both over 68%.
This is probably a good change for arena. This also means I only have 4 days to finally draft a death knight...

Arent those results for Jaina and Guldan skewed, cause they were in statistically more games due to being included in the synergy cards pool and since they r so powerful, more games were won?
I hadn't even thought of that haha. Let's prepare for a new wave of salt! :3

Anyway, good news idd.
Stats are from last 14 days, so they're not skewed from synergy, but that does include a healthy portion of dual-class. Still, any card with a win rate close to 70% when played is nuts.

Honestly, they're overdoing it. It would be better for current arena balance to remove only Jaina and Gul'dan while keeping other DKs for now. Classes like warrior and shaman need all the help they can get and removing their DKs makes their life even harder.

While i agree that some classes could use the extra help, removing just some of them would be kinda inconsistent, im fine with them all goin away.

No. Anduin and Rexxar are a big issue as well.
edit: Hell every hero is a goddamn issue of varying degree. It's a fantastic change.
(side note: which from now on I'm just going to ignore news posts. If any moderator is listening, here's a bit of a problem with the way that posts in forums (like this post) can't be downvoted, but news posts can. It creates an inconsistent behavioral approach to different opinions. I wasn't rude, or abrasive, I just made a contradictory opinion to what most people were reacting to, having a different opinion about something doesn't mean it's downvote worthy.)
Back on topic: As I mentioned in the news post: I think DK's were powerful, but don't see why they were removed. I see this as a problem because it means Blizzard is relinquishing to a volatile, emotional playerbase. A DK is no different than drafting a powerful legendary card like Deathwing. Is blizzard going to remove Deathwing from the arena too? If not, why not? I fail to see the difference in either since they are both effectively similar in what they do.
I'd love to hear moderator feedback on both parts of my question (why we have downvoting in news posts and what this action by Blizzard means for the future of HS nerfs/buffs.)

Not even remotely comparable. You can remove Deathwing and your opponent will be at a huge disadvantage. There is no chance of coming back against Jana, unless you have won already anyway. DKs have no counter.

I cant speak for why it is possible to downvote news posts and not forums posts, but i can speak for why they downvoted u. Its internet man ... ppl r safely hidden behind anonymity and its easier to just click that dislike button, when your views differ from theirs, and be negative than it is to have a constructive discussion or acknowledge the different view of the other person. Dont take it too personally.
I read your news post as well and i agree to an extent, that it sets a bad precedent as to how much "power" the community can have, if they whine enough. Tho to be honest, the feedback from the community should be a big part of any change in a game. Developers part is to decide, how relevant the feedback is and to what extent it is warranted.
About DKs specifically: they were too powerful for the format. You cannot compare Deathwing to Frost Lich Jaina for example. If u play DW, u pay a heavy price in discarding your hand and your opponent might just hard remove it and thats that. If u play Jaina, only thing u pay is a bit of tempo loss and that is also dependant on the state of the board/game ur in. You cannot remove a DK. It is in play for the rest of the game and the power of the card carries forever and accumulates more and more over time until it is too much for the opponent and he loses. You can overcome said value, it is not easy, but it can be done ... but thats where the decision to ban or not to ban DKs from arena comes in. You have to make a decision, how healthy such insanely powerful cards r for the format.
Arena is affected by RNG on many levels and being lucky enough to draft a card, that can single-handedly carry a game, any game, from almost every situation, is a big factor. Its not like u need a board to play DK to have an impact, like with an OP card like Bonemare. Most of the time its enough to not be in a position, where you would lose in your next turn or two and the DK will swing the game hard for you. If u are in a winning position, it basically wins u the game on a spot. Thats not completely true even for Bonemare.

I can't really give you a definitive answer as to why downvoting is allowed on news posts and not in forums, but it's probably a better question for Site Feedback & Support. Personally, I think it's important for people to gauge opinion on major announcements for news posts, both good and bad, but no one wants to feel like they're being judged in every corner of the website.
As far as banning Deathwing goes, it is nowhere near as big an issue as the Death Knight cards.
When the Death Knight cards get played they have a very high win rate. See the stats below:
I am happy about this :)

Woooohoooooo! Good news everyone!
I hope that they'll remove Bonemare as well, but this is very good
